Default Rob Zombie's Halloween II - Part III

[Part 01]
[Part 02]

Visiting the thread so infrequently, I hadn't noticed that it managed to balloon over 1000 posts. New thread time, and thus the madness of my least favorite thread on this forum continues.

Previous ground rules still apply -- don't insult each other, try to show at least a modicum of maturity when dealing with opinions you dislike, and if someone says something you disagree with, think through your reply before you take it upon your wise self to lay a verbal smack down.

ANYWAY....

I was on Joblo.com this morning and saw an interesting ad. At first it was one of those dumb annoying adds with a distracting person dancing away and such, so, it inevitably grabbed my attention. Then...Michael Myers grabs the guy "out of frame" and the ad turns into one for HALLOWEEN II.

Interesting marketing strategy, I suppose.

I recently viewed a bunch of TV spots for HALLOWEEN II , and noticed that they used a few music cues from Alan Howarth's score in HALLOWEEN 5. Nice touch, check them out here.

Pretty much sums up the Internet in general.

The Deprecation thread was an awful idea. Wish I'd never thought of it. Instead of stymieing the childish bickering, it gave people yet another thread in which to treat each other like defectives (people treating each other like crap seems to be the number one pass time on the World Wide Web).

The people who frequent this thread can either co-exist or ignore each other, it matters not a jot to me, but we're done bending over backward to accommodate the shockingly disproportioned reactions that tend to crop up in this thread. Much easier to lay down some simple ground rules than creating splinter threads for each individual Zombie Clique.

That is cool. I wish they would bring Alan back.

I'm so excited. And I just can't hide it.

I am so looking forward to this. Oh my golly Rob Zombie's extreme vision is going to blow me away with its depth & brilliantly written script. I'm already waiting in line to see it. LOL.

I'll have my computer chair available when I download it as soon as it leaks online and check it out. I mean, it can't be worse than the first (as long as Zombie takes the viewers ideas from the test screenings and cuts that white horse nonsense out) and I have very extreme low expectations, so perhaps I may enjoy this bullshit.

So...with very, very extreme low expectations, I figure it won't be that bad.

I plan on seeing this opening day and later in the weekend or possibly the Tuesday after I'll be seeing The Final Destination. Overall it'll be a good week

Right now I have FD3D penciled in for Sat the 29th. I'm kinda unimpressed by the ads though. I did like the first trailer.. but its been downhill since. I'm sure its still fun, but it doesn't seem up to par with the others. I have to see something in 3D though and it might as well be this since I liked the others. I didn't want to was time/money with Bloody Valentine.

I took a half day at work for the 28th. I'll probably grab a bite and go see it. I may even see it twice in the theater like I did with the first film

I finally saw my first TV spot for H2 last night. Seems like there were a few shots set in a gun store or some shit, I dunno. Is Micky Dolenz in this one too?

ADDED:
Nevermind, just saw the same spot. I think what I saw was that Uncle Meat guy or some shit.

Is that the spot where the guy is like "Happy Halloween. I got two bullets fer ya!" If so, Oh...my....golly...that trailer is absolutely brilliant & I'm still speechless after seeing it. I don't think my breath will ever come back to me after seeing it. I was moved by such an intelligent & meaningful quote that I'll never be the same again.

Halloween II and The Final Destination open on my mother's birthday. She wants to see both because she's a big fan of both franchises, but we can only afford to go see one. She asked which one I wanted to see the most, and it turns out that's the one she wants to see the most, too.

I'll leave which one we picked to your imagination.

Point is, I reckon there's gonna be a lot of people making a similar decision -- picking one over the other -- because, after all, we are at the heart of an economical recession just now. New Line and Dimension really need to put these things out on different weekends.

I agree.. I really think its a mistake. No matter who wins, the winner will still be hurt by the other.

If FD could be played in 3D everywhere, it would win no contest. I still think it will win, but it could go the otehr way cause I'm not sure how no 3D shows will sell.

I just noticed Arclight is selling both 3D and 2D auditoriums. for FD. I will be able to check to see if the 2D is selling or not. Granted its only one ciema, but still.. be interesting to see.

The loser could have a smaller drop the next week as the people that want to see both will go to the other the second week.

This year has one of the most stacked falls in recent memory as it comes to horror. If I'm not mistaken, there's a horror flick coming out every week starting the second week in September all the way up to Halloween. Like the producer for TFD said, H2 really should have just moved back one week, where it would have faced Extract, which would have been preferable to going up against another horror movie.

Why do I get the feeling that at least half of this movie is just gonna be a bunch of crazy, weird shit that's going on in Laurie's head?

^A place I'm sure no one wants to go. But for we know there could be perpetual reruns of The Smurfs and My Little Pony running on a continuous loop in that noggin of his.

Well, I've been told "You just didn't understand" about a few movies I didn't like. oh well, I guess it's impossible to understand something and "get it" but still think it's garbage. It's not like I need everything spoon fed to me, I definitely get the point of symbolism and "deeper meaning" in movies, if done right theres absolutely nothing wrong with it. But some symbolism and such can just be plain old silly and, quite frankly, pretty stupid.

But if I in fact don't like this movie one bit, Im sure someone will tell me its because I didn't understand the white horse running around. I read the guys description of the test screening and it just sounds so stupid.

judging from everything read about it, the whole movie just sounds like it will stink. And I would hate for people to tell me I dont understand or "don't get it"...because the movie just sounds silly, the symbolism Zombie is tampering with just sounds silly, and Im pretty sure the whole movie will be silly.

Like I said I might be suprised if I watch this with low expectations. You can only go up from the first stinker...so if this one is actually worse than the first one, I'd be seriously, seriously suprised.

Has anyone seen TV spots for this movie promoting it as "the conclusion" of Zombie's Halloween series? My moms says the TV spots are trying to sell this as a closing chapter, of sorts. I've not seen them.
