Because it's not the reason that it should've been done in the first place, according to those who complain. Paramount should've done it the first time, rather than wait ten years, forcing people to triple dip for the DVD's. Quadruple dip for those who bought the VHS copies.

And when did the desire to make money become this horrible thing? Its pretty much what our economy is based on. All movies are made to turn a profit.

If this was just an evil scheme cooked up by Paramount to bilk me out of nine paltry dollars then I guess I'm a sucker and I fell for it because so far I've picked up the new SEs for 4, 5, and 7. I bought 1, 2, and 3 when they came out earlier this year. I plan on getting 6 and 8 next week.
Because people don't like it when souless, greedy corporations make a profit while John Q. Public struggles to make ends meet.

Zito has said on several occasions that there IS no director's cut of the film. The theatrical cut is the director's cut. What we got on the DVD were alternate angles, apparently not cut by the MPAA in the first place. If the director doesn't feel like it needs to be done, it probably will not, and does not need to, be done.

In retrospect, I'm happy with the cut material we finally got. Although we only got one "uncut" film from the series, we got to see the goods from 1,4,6,7,8. Not bad.

Of the gore, only 7 impressed. 6 is rumored to have an 'X' cut that we haven't seen yet, but I remain skeptical. Funny how the 'R' material showed up, and the 'X' is nowhere to be found. I get the feeling stories of the 'X' cut were exaggerated to amp up the flick's mystique. Kind of how the "2 1/2 hour workprint" of JTM turned into 12 extra minutes of subpar JTM scenes.

I'm bummed that cut stuff from 2 and 5 never made it out. I've heard 2 had a lot cut, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised that if I did get it I would be underwhelmed similar to 1,4,6,and 8.

So yeah ... happy days for Friday fans.

I agree with all that Bond , but Part 2 only had something like 42 seconds of cut footage Jeff and Sandra impalement scene.

Yep. The rest was just stuff for the television broadcasts. This DVD is pretty much it.

What about the people that have the series on BETA and Laserdisc?! How do you think they feel?

They didn't force you to buy anything. Did they put a gun to your head and make you go to the store and buy them? No. You bought them with your own free will. So if you feel that you wasted your money, then with all due respect you should have bought four copies of each one. So, with all due respect, if you wanted your money, it's nobody's fault but your own so get over it.

I own the box set. Then I purhased the original uncut on Blu-Ray, and the deluxe editions for 3, 4, and 6 on my own free will. Nobody forced me to buy them. I didn't buy any of the others.

Some people just aren't rational. However, I was just saying that studios do not force anyone to buy anything. It is up to the choice of the consumer. Paramount are not doing anything with the Friday the 13th series that Anchor Bay has not been doing with Halloween for years. New Line did it with Lord of the Rings. Lucus did it with Star Wars. Warner did it with Batman and Superman. Every company does it. It is a business. At the end of the say, it is up to the consumer to decide whether they want to buy the same film twice or not. The companies simply produce a product, but it is strictly our own choice as to whether or not we want to buy it or not.

In all honesty I would buy a nice new edition of Jason X if it included that legendary fight scene between Uber-Jason and Brodski at the end before the ship blew up.

Does anyone know of a way to view the mockumnetaries online? I'd really appreciate it.

Maybe we will get 'The Final Chapter' on Blu with the cut gore scenes added back in like 'My Bloody Valentine' (1981) was.

We can only pray. I would also want the "TV scenes" added in. Scenes cut out of the Tcut but replaced into the TV version to accomidate for the time slot and cut gore. Like the scene where Tommy cuts his fingers off, find the mask in the trunk, and Rob's extra equipment. All that... and the alternate ending with your extra gore. That's the only way I would buy the BD after getting the DEDVD.

Default Part III 3D defective?

I recently bought Part III Deluxe Edition with the 3D glasses, and it was quite bad. Constant blurring, ghosts, and it just never worked. Is the 3D defective on all DVDs or are there ways to improve the quality?

I'm not sure about the 3D on part 3 specifically, but the 3D on the DVD version of My Bloody Valentine remake has those problems too.
I think 3D on DVD in general is just really poor.

This.

As long as they can only do the red and blue/green 3D instead of the polarized glasses, the 3D won't work properly. I doubt we'll get quality home 3D for quite some time.

Yeah, it's not your DVD. 3D with the red/blue system just sucks if you try to watch it any sort of reasonable distance. If you can get really close (or just find a way to restrict your peripheral vision altogether), it will work okay, but it still isn't going to be as good as it can be in theaters.

I had a headache 5 minutes in on Part 3. Ended up turning the dang thing off minutes later. I had no problem seeing it in 3D in the theater but the disc just blew.

That happens to me too. I see three of everything on screen. The major 3D gags work okay however.

I'm hoping for the full series on Blu Ray.

Isn't everybody?

I remember during the original DVD release, Paramount released two movies every October until they finished all eight of theirs. I was assuming they'd do something similar with Blu Ray. At least they will if they're smart.

They already did the first three on Blu. All I'm really interested in getting on Blu is The Final Chapter and The New Blood. I have the first three Blus. I own Jason Lives deluxe on DVD and I'm happy with just watching Parts 5 and 8 from the DVD box set.

If they follow what they did with the DVDs, then they should release (I hope) Parts VI and V on BR in October. That's exciting because those are two of my favorites. Can't wait to see Debisue Voorhees' nude scene in HD.

I never bothered watching Part 3 in 3D. Anaglyph 3D sucks, and it always has sucked, that's why 3D trends never lasted, it detracted from the film much more then it added. It's a shame they can't do polarized 3D on BR (without those new 3D TVs it seems), I was disappointed when Coraline and My Bloody Valentine only contained anaglyph.
