I got the first Panasonic DVD player ever made in 1997 and it cost $750. There were only 2 Panis and 2 Sonys then and that's it... that's why I haven't bothered to go Blu-Ray yet. I can afford it, I just don't want to spend all that money and have it be dead in 10 years, replaced with True - 3D vision players or some shit

Or better yet, have the movie/tv show you want scanned into your brain.

So, great news about The Final Chapter's deleted gore scenes being found. The lack of audio is not that big of a deal, since its just death scenes, you know? I remember many here saying that footage did not exist anymore, so I'm glad it was found.

Its heart-breaking to know that much of the lost footage for the other films was destroyed....I'd like to take a lead pipe to whoever okayed that idea....

Anyway, I'm glad the deleted stuff that was found is being included on these new sets, but do you guys think an eventual release down the road (maybe the blu-ray box set) might include the deleted gore put back into the films?

Yes, I know the sound is lost for TFC footage, but that can easily be put back in with some ambient sound/music (like the MBV unrated footage). A shift in quality would be fine with most fans as well.

So, lets review:

We've got part 1 unrated.

Part 2: footage lost/destroyed

Part 3: footage lost/destroyed

TFC: footage found

ANB: footage lost/destroyed

JL: footage found (and looks to be in good shape, judging by the previous box set)

TNB: footage destroyed (but available in VHS form)

JTM: footage found.

So I suppose it is possible to get some of these unrated in the future. If not an official release, I hope the footage included on the new DVD will be clear of huge writing/logos and all kinds of crap so fans are able to cut the footage back into the films themselves.

Anyway, yes it sucks that much of the footage was destroyed, but its not a total waste.

We've been told for years that NOTHING exists at all, and I for one am happy that something was found.

Well then it's true that Steve Miner's mom trew the F13 3 footage away.

Knowing Miner, he probably denies the existence of the footage at all these days.

Do we really know it's the filmic uncut gore footage that was found for TFC and JTM? Sounds more to me like outtakes filmed on set of tests or something, not particularly the footage that was shot for the film. I could be wrong, but let's not jump the gun.

Here's the exact quote about material from TNB and JTM:

Quote:
we did find several lost scenes from Part 7 that didn't make it on the original box set. They are mostly "character moments" involving Lar Park Lincoln and Kevin Blair, as well as an extended scene with Billy Butler and his date on their way to the "birthday bash." These are definitely included in the new Deluxe Edition.

We also found a few outtakes of Kane rising from the lake and a better-quality version of Melissa's "ax to the head" death scene.

Unfortunately most of the trims from Part 7 were destroyed in 1991. Believe me, we would have killed ourselves to create the ultimate/uncut version of 7. But what we did find will hopefully give fans a chance to see (albeit not the best quality) some of that holy grail material, and we were grateful to John Buechler and Fred Mollin for providing us with the early work tapes that they (thankfully) kept safe all these years. Had it not been for that material, the Part 7 disc would have been sorely lacking. So thanks to John and Fred!

On the upside, Part 8 has pretty much everything that was excised from the film -- lots of outtakes, alternate angles and a few never-before-seen moments. Scott Reeves, Jensen Daggett and Kane Hodder did an amazing commentary track that I know fans are going to love. The best feature (IMHO) is the "gag reel" that Rob Hedden and his team assembled for their cast & crew wrap party. We included it in its entirety -- including a "piece" of Kane's Jason you've never seen before!

Just wanted to fill in some of the gaps and to let everyone know that we put everything that exists on these DVDs. Paramount didn't "hold out" on you this time -- if it existed in their vaults, we put it on these Deluxe Editions.
Sounds like JTM stuff could be gore related as it's "everything that was excised," but it's not exactly clear.

Farrands also commented that one of the JTM finds was an extra moment deleted from the ending that features "Young Jason trying to escape from Big Jason's mouth"...

Oh joy..lol. With the effects quality from that film, I'm not sure I want to see it.

However I did once write a fan fic AFTER JGTH that basicly all of the evil 'undead' stuff lived and thats what was sent to hell in JGTH, and the young boy was in fact real and eventually grew up again, went back to Crystal Lake and became a more old school Jason.

Stupid I know, I was just a fan trying to squeeze it all in..lol

I still want to know why they didn't include Hedden's 2 1/2 hr JTM workprint that he offered Paramount for the box set as an extra disc.

2 and a half hour JTM? I wouldn't mind seeing that.

I heard that he "offered" this for like, $30k. Not much of a steal in anyone's eyes.

I'm one of the few JTM apologists, and even I see no way this movie was stretched into 2 1/2 hours. I think either Hedden doesn't really remember how long the workprint was, or maybe he's stretching the truth a bit to stir up some mystique around JTM, a la The New Blood.

I'm not saying it 'should' be 2 and a half hours, but it would be pretty easy for JTM to be that long in a first pass. The first pass of Rob Zombie's Halloween was like over 3 hours. 2 and a half isn't very long for a first assemble by a director. It's never meant to be that long, but it lets them see what plays and what doesn't, then cut it down.

I think Freddy Vs Jason's first pass was 2 and a half as well. Tall Man would know better but I think Rocky Balboa was also 2 and a half at first pass. . Most 90min to 120min films are almost 3 hours or more first cut. it's pretty standard.

The first rough cut of Titanic was 5 hours 45min, so it was a full 2 hours and 15min longer than the final cut (and hell it could have easily lost another 20min)

Anyway, Hedden isn't making shit up.. 2 and a half hours is more than reasonable. Not saying its GOOD.. lol. But as a length its not that long for a first cut.

Well I'd be happy to see a 2 and a half hour cut of JTM. It was the final "true" Friday film, IMO, and I've always liked it. More blood and guts and character stuff would not hurt the film.

And I don't buy the whole "Hedden will only sell for 30 grand" thing. I'll bet if Paramount asked him for the workprint, he'd gladly hand it over.

My guess (or hope) is that they're waiting for the blu-ray release.

A $30,000 price tag is cheap considering what it is. The Forest (a crappy b grade slasher) had a $35,000 price tag on the negatives when Code Red tried buying it.

It may have been beyond Paramount's budget, but that's not a lot. I don't think Hedden would just hand it over without some sort of payment whether it be a lump sum, or royalties/deferment.

Sort of like how the actors in Seinfeld wouldn't do DVD commentaries because they didn't want to pay for them to do it, so why should they? It's understandable that Hedden should be compensated.

"Rocky Balboa" wasn't at 2 1/2 hours on a first pass. 2 1/2 hours was Sly's cut. MGM just refused to release it at that length and made him cut it to an hour forty five.

So that means the first pass was even longer..lol.

Anyway, more fuel to the fire that a 2 and a half hour JTM is not an impossible or made up thing. While Mr Hedden may embelish by saying it may actually be good, the length seems valid for his cut.
