Son of Jason Films Presents SAM HELL

Quote:
The movie was directed by Michael Bayouth, who was also one of the producers and gives the company its name: He’s the offspring of Ted White, who played masked maniac Voorhees in FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE FINAL CHAPTER.

“In SAM HELL, a young man who runs a Halloween spooky house finds what he believes to be an old movie prop at a yard sale, and decides to work it into his chilling attraction,” Bayouth tells Fango. “The grotesque decayed head in a cage turns out to be the real remains of a deranged mass murderer who begins to possess Sean, making him continue his bloody killing spree. When Sean’s girlfriend Jill realizes what’s happening, she enlists a pair of paranormal ass-kickers to send Sam back to hell.”

Filmed in October 2005, SAM HELL was inspired by its shooting locales: a pair of working Los Angeles haunted houses, where Bayouth and company were able to take advantage of the present casts, atmosphere FX and over $200,000 worth of real movie props. “Working bass-ackwards,” the director says, “we crafted the film around the sets we had to work with instead of building to satisfy a script. I gotta admit, it was really fun figuring it all out with screenwriter Robert Clotworthy, and the movie took on a personality all its own because of it. This all, of course, stemmed from the fact that we had almost zero cash to work with. ‘Turn your negatives into your positives’ was the name of the game. If it worked as a set, it became a scene to support our story.

“The script was written in two weeks and cast the next day; the day after that, we began shooting nights,” he continues; the actors include Osa (LIVE EVIL) Wallender, Brian Graves and Keith Lewis. “Bugs in the script were worked out by the cast members and myself as we shot. Thank God someone read the script more than once.” When it came to postproduction, “Telepathy plays a big part in SAM HELL, and sound designer Mark Hailstrone masterfully created a sick audio track and a signature sound for the titular maniac.”

SAM HELL is currently available for distribution and is being shopped at the American Film Market in LA, along with a a couple of other Son of Jason projects.
There are supposed to be clips at that link, but they're not showing up for me.

Trailer, with a shot that's a nice homage to the Madman and Slaughterhouse posters -
