Now this is untrue. While I largely prefer Compton's version, Jamie Lee Curtis is the definitive Laurie Strode for the simple fact her performance is what truly started the "virgin girl surviving against the killer" trend that is used so much in horror movies. I disagree that she was horrible in any of the movies.
Let's look at it this way: In the original, she's the All American girl that's nice, does great in school, and isn't distracted by boys like Annie & Lynda appear to be. For someone to have given their first performance, Curtis did great, and there was a bond with her & the children that I haven't truly seen replicated in any later movies, and I love that she actually cared about the kids and what not. That really makes the original that much more enjoyable. In H2, she's more damaged, and I don't think she's seen enough in the film for her to have had terrible acting. What she did do was great, imo, and she was effective in her scenes. Just as in the original, I felt genuinely sorry for her, and was rooting for her by the end of the movie. By the time H20 comes around, her character is somewhat bitchy, alcoholic, and it's implied she may be a pill popper, in which case, the latter may be something that was drawn from Jamie Lee's real life addiction to pills in which case she of course recovered. Even with the bitchy, paranoid aspects tacked on, Curtis delivers something just as good as H1 & H2, especially since by that point she had matured greatly as an actress. Lastly, in HR, she's completely damaged, seems somewhat insane, and is waiting for Michael to come after her. While I think that they made her character a bit idiotic by having her think an innocent man could be behind the mask when he was chasing her nonstop and had no time to switch with someone else, Curtis remains as one of the only good things about HR. For the reasons above, Curtis will never be forgotten whenever this franchie is brought up. She was a mainplayer for three movies, with her saga finally being concluded in part eight. Just as the lovable little Jamie Lloyd who was portrayed beautifully by Danielle Harris won't be forgotten, neither will Jamie Lee Curtis be forgotten as Laurie Strode, who we saw many sides of. First we saw her as a teenager, then a traumatized victim, then a mother, and then as a very damaged, withered, & beaten down human being at the end of her rope, so to speak. ADDED: Quote:

Maybe the Ice Cream man will come around, too!
Let's hope we get Clint Howard this time.
