The "new" campaign in which you play Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, is that you get to play the flashback to the mansion that ends in Jill and Wesker falling to their "Deaths", supposedly.
Nothing too exciting, I'll probably get it anyway. Hell, I own RE4 for the GC, PS2, and Wii. I'm more excited for the Operation Javier section of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and it isn't too long of a wait for that. |

That seems the obvious setting for the new campaign, but since they're calling it a campaign rather than a "chapter", I'm hoping it'll be at least a little more substantial than that.
I'm not very excited at all about The Darkside Chronicles at the moment because I don't own a Wii. However, now that Sony is releasing the Motion Controller, and given Capcom's track record with porting Nintendo "exclusives" to a Sony system, I'm crossing my fingers that they'll port The Umbrella Chronicles and The Darkside Chronicles over to the PS3. Hell, they could fit them both on a single Blu-ray disc. ADDED:

According to Famitsu, the game will feature both Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, and the scenario will last approximately 2 hours.
Jun Takeuchi: - The extra element was planned from the beginning of the game production - The size is too big to be a DLC - Co-op - Jun Takeuchi's 1st gameplay was about 1 hr 40 minutes. - New game mode is scheduled (unsure what it means) - For 360 it will be prepared in a different form - There will be new costumes and outfits |

And if it was planned form the beginning, why didn't they just delay the game by a couple of months and be done with it? (Of course the answer is simple: they'd much rather try and sell it twice.) ADDED: Quote:

I'm with Jeans on the horseshit call. The first DLC for Fallout 3 easily lasted me two and a half hours, and it's an extremely linear mission with very little side tracking. Takeuchi is full of shit in this case.

I know this is a business and they're out to make money, but this shit is getting stupid. It's obvious the only reason they're not offering this as DLC is because they want people to go out and buy the entire game again, shelling out another $60 bucks in the process (and that doesn't even include the cost of the Motion Controller and PlayStation Eye, both of which people will have to buy if they want to play the game with the new control settings. At least Capcom have the good sense to keep the traditional control setup in the game, too.)
I told a friend of mine about this today, and he said, "There's no way I'm going out and buying the game again. I spent $90 goddamn dollars on the Collector's Edition, I'm not about to dump another sixty." He then told me he'd buy the campaign if they offer it for download, but he refuses to double dip. I'm not sure I'm so strong. I'll probably end up selling off my original copy and putting the money toward the new one, or I might wait until the price drops to $20. Whatever I do, I'm really not happy about the situation. I wouldn't be surprised if the new campaign is put up for download six or eight months after the disc version is released.

The voting is done and Capcom have decided how to bring Resident Evil 5's Director's Cut content to the States and Europe. Both the PS3 and 360 will get the additional content as DLC come spring 2010.

Thank you, Capcom. You've just earned about 500 cool points.

Resident Evil 2 was released on the PSN this week for $5.99. I wonder if we will ever see a remake of the game?

I imagine we will, as Shinji Mikami seems to find the idea intriguing.
As far as buying it over PSN, I own the GameCube version so there's no reason to. Not that I would anyway, as the PS3s with software emulation have proven themselves pretty unreliable at playing PS1 games.

Excellent. That's going to make a couple of my friends very happy. They're quite keen on Barry Burton.
I wonder if these characters will be playable in Versus?

Are these DLC packs kind of like the one's for Assassins Creed 2 where they take place like before the last stage? The AC2 DLC stages are chapters/sequence 12 and 13 and the reg game goes from 11 to 14 and they said that the extra chapters don't really effect the ending but I think they do, at least with 12 it had stuff that pretained to the story as I have held off on beating the game so I can play it in its full order so after 12 I've just been looking for feathers and waiting for 13 which comes out this week I believe?
But is that how these pack for RE5 will work or are they ment for after you beat the game? I did finally pick up RE5 but haven't really played it. I think I'm barely at the 2nd maybe 3rd chapter in it and was kind of holding off on playing it because of hearing this. I picked it up used for like twenty sum bucks and figured it would be better to get that and then just DL the content as opposed to paying $50-60 for the alt edition to have it all in one... |

I know the new content definitely takes place during the game for sure. At least the Jill one does, because all the sudden she shows up at the end and it covers how she got there. The other stuff, not sure entirely, but I would imagine. Otherwise it'd be just a random short game, no?

The first bit of DLC is not integrated into the game -- it takes place three years prior to the game, and is accessed from the game's main menu. However, if you've played through the main game, then you're familiar with where the DLC takes place (in the Spencer mansion, where Chris and Jill confront Wesker).
The second DLC stage is set during chapter 6, and follows how Jill and Josh escape while Sheva and Chris are hunting and fighting Wesker. Whether that will also be accessed from the main menu or incorporated directly into the campaign somehow remains to be seen, but I imagine both scenarios will be incorporated the same way Ava's Separate Ways campaign is incorporated into Resident Evil 4: as its own miniature campaign.

Does anyone know what time this content will become available? Do they do it in the morning or at the stroke of midnight?

I have now purchased the RE5 DLC. It is currently downloading. I picked up Lost in Nightmares, as well as Costume Pack 01 (Sheva is hawt in the Fiarytale getup).
I fucking cannot wait to play Barry Burton in The Mercenaries. There ended up not being an option for either/or on the Barry/Rebecca front, I think they just decided to bundle each character with each DLC pack. This is the first game that I've purchased all the DLC for as soon as it landed. This is my DLC game.
