And D, what the FUCK is ANB doing last on your list!? Hahhaa. You big dildo...
It goes both ways IMO.

But in regards to JTM... I used to feel the way you do until last year. Watched JTM and just thought it was really really really dumb. I'll still watch it on rare occasions, like on marathons and what not... but watching it just to watch it, I couldn't do it. You can if you want to, I can't do it.

My order changes from time to time too, so my list isn't set in stone... who knows... in 5 years JTM could climb up 5 slots? Part 5 for me jumped up from 5 to 2... so anything could happen.

Not that I'm questioning it in a bad way, because I absolutely love the film as well, but are there any particular reasons FVJ stand out above the rest for you, TM?

I don't think I would agree with that one. Though I think I put it last on my rankings, I don't think it "sucks donkey balls."

Here are some examples of movies that I think "suck donkey balls":

- The Burning (yup, I said it)
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
- Bog
- An American Werewolf in Paris
- The Howling (yup, I said THAT too)
- The Exorcist sequels

For me, ANY Friday the 13th movie (close your eyes and pick one out of a hat) is better then any of that dog shit that I just listed.

I don't think I understand because previous movies establish the characters you love. Even if it were my favorite it would end up as number three, N1 ad F2 being above it. But it's opinion, and you're entitled to yours. It is a good flick, IMO not absolute best.

I'd watch The Burning before the original Friday the 13th.

Yeah I definitely think the Burning is better than the original Friday the 13th. I can only think of 3 Friday films I like better

The big one-- Freddy and Jason battling. Fucking epic. Looked great opening night. Still love it. Could have been much more terrible, but blew me away. Am I as enamored with it as it was when it came out? No. But a "Friday the 13th" movie with Robert Englund? I'm sorry. Game over there.

Also, an "A Nightmare on Elm Street" movie with Jason? Game over again. Epic wins all around... except for fucking no Kane.

What does establishing characters I love have to do with anything? You got Freddy. You got Jason. You got them kicking the shit out of each other. Sold.

Ah, then I agree with your reasoning, TM, I wish I would've been able to have seen it in theaters or something, I remember being scared of Freddy seven years ago, so I'd just be scared shitless from the sight of any kill, and the one I saw the was the bedroom kill at the beginning.

Okay, I'm going to try my hand at ranking the series. I tried it earlier, but I got frustrated because I had a hard time deciding where to place some of the later entries.

Friday the 13th
Part IV
Part II
Part V
Jason Goes to Hell
Part VI
JTM
The Remake
Part VII
Part 3
Jason X

I rarely watch part VII, 3, and Jason X. The rest of them I enjoy a whole lot. I even enjoy the remake, just not as much as the others.

For the record I love Jason Takes Manhattan. I've got my reasons.

i'd rank them as follows:
1. Friday the 13th
2. Friday the 13th Part 2
3. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
4. Friday the 13th 2009
5. Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives
6. Friday the 13th Part 3
7. Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning
8. Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday
9. Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood
10. Freddy Vs. Jason
11. Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan

JasonX doesnt exist as far as i'm concerned.

note: these are subject to change. this is just how i'd rank them as of right now, 2/09/10 2:36pm est.

Lol, well, just the sight of the dude back then would creep me out. I even had a dream about Freddy when I was about six or seven years old. Not cool, Englund, stay in your own damn dream.

But yeah, for some reason I've never been scared of Jason.

And Justyn, I could've sworn I put part 3 high up on my list? I'm very fond of part 3, I love it to bits.

Part 3 is the only human Jason movie that I didn't like very much. I haven't seen it in ages, though, so a rewatch might amp up my appreciation for it. I know that I really liked the disco theme, and I still have it on my iPod.

Well like I said, it's been awhile since I've seen it, but the last time I did try to watch it, I think I ended up getting bored and started mindlessly surfing on my laptop.

Thinking about it, there were a few things in it that I really liked. The pot smoking hippies who were clearly older than all of their friends were pretty funny, and I remember the stand in for Crazy Ralph brandishing an eyeball at the kids in the beginning being pretty entertaining.

Usually when I consider watching this one, I wind up watching The Final Chapter instead. But now I'm a little curious to check it out and see what I think of it. I might make that my activity for tomorrow during the hours that I have to kill before night class.

I always cheat with my list and say that I treat the first four films as one, big movie, but it's true. I never watch any of the first four without starting with the opening shot of the moon in part one to the end credits with the great music in part four. I just think those four films are perfectly connected and tell an epic story, so...

1. Parts 1-4
2. Part 5
3. Part 7
4. Part 6
5. Part 8
6. The Remake/Reboot/whatever
7. JGTH
8. Freddy vs. Jason
9. Jason X

To tie this all back up to the original movie, I must say after having watched part one three times last year (there were three Friday the 13th dates last year, which was probably one too many for me), I think its a great stand-alone slasher in and of itself. You don't really know who's going to survive until Brenda bites it, the kills we see (Jack and Marcie) are pretty creepy, and the killer is sympathetic but bat-shit crazy enough you can root against her. I like all the characters, the setting, the music... I just love it.

And, of course, its a nice jumping-off point for the rest of the series, especially the first three sequels.

Mine change too, but that's a big change. That's like having JTM (which is always at the bottom of my list) and have it jump to my top 5...

And Steinman is about as entertaining as paint drying on the White House.

if you say so...

ADDED:
so if i move part 3 from 4th to 6th that's like you moving part 8 from 12th to say 4th?
the numbers just don't add up my friend.

i'll put what i want where i want it. not where you think it should be.
