I hate to admit it, but I'll probably wind up seeing it, just to see what they've done and to properly hate on it if need be. But goddam that last remake was painful to sit through.

The announcement made by New Line has been trending on Facebook for almost 24 hours now.

A sign that general audiences are curious?

Definitely, Westin. Genre and will still continue to have their nerd period though.

    There is no reboot, though.

I'll give this a chance if it looks good. Robert Englund will always be number one, but I'll give someone else a chance to play Freddy.

This is not happening. Someone posted a fake synopsis on IMDB and the fake synopsis went viral and many websites started using it as clickbait.

    This is the synopsis:

“When Brenton Higgins begins to appear in other people’s dreams at will, he has no idea that he is the illegitimate son of Freddy Krueger. Recently moving back to Elm Street, Brenton discovers his hidden past and finds himself on a collision cause with Freddy himself. Brenton is also pursued by a mysterious secret government agency, led by Professor Matthew Luk. They want his gift. What they don’t know is that they will get Krueger, with hell to pay.”

The website that The One and Only provided a link to concurs that the IMDB synopsis is fake, but it's still possible that they're working on another reboot, it's just not a top priority right now. I'm sure that things will become more concrete if Blumhouse's Halloween movie does well.

maybe they should finally go the route of covering Freddy's backstory as the Springwood Slasher and all that. i actually came across a rare find on ebay the other day, a 12 pg treatment for a prequel written by John Saxon in 1987, and a 16 pg revised version from 2006. http://www.ebay.com/itm/How-the-Nigh...19.m1438.l2649

Decent premise: Don Thompson covering his first murder case while also dealing with a troubled daughter (not Nancy) from his first marriage. He has her see Kruger, a child therapist.

I would actually be all for a prequel, to tell you the truth.
"Now I'd like two eggs, over hard. I know, don't tell me; it's hard on the arteries, but old habits die hard, just about as hard as I want those eggs. Bacon, super-crispy. Almost burned. Cremated. That's great. And, I'll have the grapefruit juice, just as long as those grapefruits are freshly squeezed."

Can't say that I'm really interested in a prequel. Part of what makes Freddy special is his ability to terrorize people in their dreams. Take that away and he's just a freak with a bladed glove. That's not really as interesting.

After the major success of IT, I could see a lot of these horror reboots finally getting out of limbo. Now if someone would just clear up all the F13 rights. Maybe pay out the money & get it all under one roof.
