So, it turns out that the guy that runs the University of Colorado's horror movie club graduated, and myself and Erin (the girl with whom I always went to the club), look like we are taking the reigns, partially because we were there more than pretty much anyone, but also because I had one of the more solid knowledges/collections of horror films. I have some ideas, but I think it wouldn't hurt to see what you folks have to say.

As far as this goes, however, most the people there aren't new to the genre. Last year the line-up consisted of such semi-famous and varied movies as The Beyond (I believe we watched 3 Fulci films in all), several Miike films (Ichi the Killer, Visitor Q, one of the 3 Extremes), Somethng Wicked This Way Comes, Slither, Hellraiser II, and even an older ones like The Carnival of Souls. The most well-known movies we watched were probably The Shining or The Exorcist, both of which were probably only in the roster because we saw the 35mm prints the university had.

I have a few ideas, I was thinking Re-Animator, Black Christmas, even stuff like Monster Squad, Troll 2, Maniac, Battle Royale and The Devil's Backbone along with a few others.

And I was wondering if you, my horror compatriots, might have a few ideas? Don't give me your Evil Deads or especially stuff like your Friday the 13ths, they're a little too run-of-the-mill as compared to what I'm looking for.

Help is appreciated!

Something Wicked This Way Comes is a horror film? It was a Disney film... it's hard to think of it as a horror flick.

If you want something unorthodox, go for Kolobos (http://www.amazon.com/Kolobos-Linnea-Quigley/dp/B00000JPHM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-3578695-9773239?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1189078135&sr=8-1). It's a criminally under appreciated gem, and Faceless is on my list of top-ten favorite film killers.

Well, that was an example of how flexible the group tends to be. That was the only sorta kid's movie I saw there last year. Usually it was Suspiria or something like that.

I have a movie called SQUIRM that would be perfect. It's about a small town in GA where downed power lines force meat-eating worms to the surface. It even mixes in slasher elements when one guy gets "infested" with worms and goes on a deadly rampage. The whole thing is done tongue-in-cheek and made all the more hilarious by the fact that it dares to claim it's based on a true story!

I don't think the opening monologue thing was meant to claim it was a true story in any way.

I was referring to the VHS box. Maybe that was the distributors but it says it's from a true story.
