After a lackluster season three, I wasn't very thrilled about the upcoming season, especially after reading some of the storylines planned for the season. However, like season two's "Juicy" music video and season three's "Girl, you really got me now" music video, the season four music video, featuring a new song by Jennifer Lopez, has me psyched. I'm really interested in seeing what exactly is Edie's fate.

I can't believe the show doesn't start until September 30, though. It seems late to me. I thought most shows started around early September.

Season 1 - 1 000 000 000/10

Season 2 - 11/10

Season 3 - 7.5/10 :(

Season 4 - Better be damn good /10

I can't wait. And it's really not that long. I mean, the past seasons started in October, right? Yeah, I'm sure of it.

To prepare for the new season, I've been strolling down Wisteria... er, Memory Lane courtesy of YouTube looking for the amazing "Desperate Housewives" season promos. Here they are:

Season One Promo (creepy Que Sera Sera): http://youtube.com/watch?v=bEIO67hBM4M

Season Two Promo (Juicy): http://youtube.com/watch?v=XBRkgnbtb8E

Season Three Promo (Dirty Laundry): http://youtube.com/watch?v=LIptokRpjys

Season Four Promo (Walk a Mile in These Shoes): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Led2aa5383Q

Are they already spoiling us? Edie is in the promo which means she survives? probably someone walks on her, I bet Carlos and saves her

Hehe, I never noticed until now that I did that in my post. (2 above)

LOL, sorry Rama.

Good first episode. I mean, I've never disliked an episode of DH before in the past 3 years, but it's turning out better than Season 3 already. Why? Because it's developing stories, not one-time notices like the shows in Part III. Knew that Edie would live, and think that the new neighbor is a total b****! Haha, but that's okay. Adds flavor.

Hands down the best episode since last season's "Bang!" episode. Season four is off to a great start. I don't know... something seems different now... but whatever it is makes this feel like the "Desperate Housewives" I fell in love with, so I welcome it, whatever it is.

Pretty good season premiere, as I mentioned before I was right on the money about Edie, well almost except that she planned it and almost didn't work! LOL.

I don't know about the new secrests, Lynnete's one is out, Susan I don't think she can hide it much, Gabby will be eventually caught cheating and I don't know if Bree will be caught with the fake belly.

Interesting story though with the new neighbors..

Another good one. Kinda sad though. :(

I love the competition between Bree and the creepy new neighbor lady. (I'll learn her name in time...)

It was a great episode. I hope they can keep this "season one"-esque momentum going. I need more Andrew, though, and not just one-line-a-week-Andrew, but Andrew actually involved in storylines and maybe even a *gasp* relationship.

I cried today. I can't remember the last time I cried at the television, but I did.
When Lynette found out she wasn't sick, and stepped outside for a fresh breath of air, it was uplifting. But there, dead on its side, the possum lay. His life was taken away, no more garden burrowing. He was gone. His soul was gone. And when Lynette uttered those two words, "I'm sorry", I watered up. Not only because the possum's life was over, but because Scavo had killed it, and she felt so horrible.

Anyways, good episode!

The cast and crew just finished filming the 10th episode of the season, and it looks like it'll be the last new episode until the Writer Strike ends. Damn it, and I was really, really, really into this season, too.

only 10 episodes???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Just Jeans
11-08-2007, 10:08 AM
Francesco - you should steel yourself for the fact that most American dramas that are currently in production aren't going to make it past episode 15 or 16 before the strike affects them, and that's if they're very lucky -- Heroes is stuck at 11, DHW seems to be stuck at 10, I reckon Pushing Daisies and House are stuck around the same place, too.

With luck, the strike will get cleared up in a timely manner and all these shows can go back into production... but I wouldn't be shocked if most shows in 2007/2008 season get short changed.

I'm guessing the strike is about money. (Ofcourse. It all comes down to the green)

I notice a lot of the actors are supporting this. Hmm, I wonder if they'll think twice about that after...you know...They're out of jobs!!!

How many DHW's have we had so far? Sept 30, Oct 7, Oct 14, Oct 21, Oct 28, Nov 4, ...6 so far. This Sunday (Nov 11) will be #7. If we keep having one a weekend, that show will end by the beginning of December. Arr! Stupid strikes! You've ruined my Sundays! I'm glad Big Brother doesn't have a script. At least I will only be half paranoid.

That's an oversimplification (studios have been wanting writers to work on 'webisodes' for free, and they've even been pushing to remove writers credit from television programming entirely).

Cody posted this in the strike thread:

oJ55Ir2jCxk

It's informative. I suggest giving it a watch.

That's not going to happen.

In any case, some actors don't have a choice one way or the other, as they moonlight as screenwriters and are card carrying members of WGA.

Joshg
11-11-2007, 03:30 AM
Yeah, like I said, about money (or, lack of...)

Just Jeans
11-11-2007, 09:40 PM
It's about credit as much as money.

But even ignoring that studios want to take the name of writers off their own work, do you honestly think they should work for free? Should anyone -- a writer, a plumber, a construction worker -- be expected to do their job for free (http://www.syfyportal.com/news424409.html) just because their boss reckons they should? If you told a construction worker to go put in a 12 hour shift for absolutely zero money, he'd look at you like your face was missing.

It should be no different for the guys in the WGA. They shouldn't be expected to work for free.

"They weren't going to acknowledge anybody who wrote it," Moore said. ... "I mean, my staff writer, who is the lowest man on the totem pole, they want him to do all this work for another media and not pay him for it, and then make money off of his work. Ultimately, that's why we're here, because that's just wrong."

The 5th Golden Girl
12-03-2007, 06:17 AM
Well, that was fun. I hope the writer's strike doesn't go on much longer because "Desperate Housewives" has been very, very good this season. Quite the cliffhanger we're left with, too.

Joshg

Don't forget the final episode, #10, next Sunday!

Joshg
12-24-2007, 07:31 PM
Okay, so there was no "final episode" on the date I said. But there is one in approximately two weeks! Does this means the writer's are cracking? I haven't been keeping up.

The 5th Golden Girl

I believe "Desperate Housewives" is done for the season. I mean, I know they've shown their last episode, but I'm not clear yet as to if a new season begins when the new episodes come or if they will continue calling it season 4.

Anyway, I loved finding out Ida (poor Ida) was a Rockford Peach! That was cool!

I was looking around YouTube, and I came across this promo for the show I've never seen before. Check it out!

The 5th Golden Girl
04-23-2008, 10:49 PM
I did. It wasn't that great. This past Sunday's episode was better, but the writer's strike really took its toll on what was shaping up to be a really great season. There's still four episodes left, I think, so maybe the quality will pick back up.

Oh, my God, I love your avatar. That is one of my favorite movies.

As for the finale, it was okay, but I wasn't really all that into it until the last few minutes. I'm very interested in the time jump they're going to do, though. I was very happy to see Andrew in Bree's flash forward as a lot of people won't be back again. Julie, Danielle, Dylan, and the Scavo kids... they're all gone after last night's finale. I mean, I guess the Scavo kids will be recast, but the characters of Julie, Danielle, and Dylan are gone from the show because the actresses are gone from the show, and James Denton (Mike) may be gone for good, too.

They probably are just going to continue with the year. The only difference is that we'll have the knowledge of the future, like Susan's mishap.
Nice to see that guy from Queer As Folk on for a brief moment. Susan's husband? Wow! Odd twist.

Marc Cherry has said the jump forward is a permanent change for now as has Marcia Cross. So the storyline will continue from where we were in the last five minutes of the finale.

what a fucking mess. this whole leap into the future thing did not work. Gabby is now an old maid with kids she can't control (she turned into Lynette?), Susan is having an affair with some young guy who works on her house (she turned into Gabby?), Edi is married to some mysterious guy (he's the new Victor?). it's like a whole new show with brand new characters, none of which are even remotely as interesting or funny as the old characters.

R.I.P. to a good show.

Joshg

I still love it.

Mind you, the 5 years thing is annoying, a little. But as a correction, Susan isn't having an affair. She and Mike have been done with for a while. She's simply...screwin' around.

Indeed!

Susan -> Gabby
Gabby -> Lynette
Eddie -> Bree

So where's grown Kayla? and Lynette's little girl (she should be around 6 now)

So Mike is confirmed dead? or maybe in a comma again? (ironic)

He's very much alive.

I gotta say I'm loving this season thus far. I love the villain; he's awesome. His little smile to McCluskey after her initial freak-out at the surprise party was top-notch.

I'm glad they jumped five years ahead; it helped freshen things up. Sure, you could say it turned Gaby into Lynette, Susan into Gaby, and Bree into... well, Bree, but that's a sweeping generalization. Lynette's biggest problem about turning into a frumpy stay-at-home Mom was that she was so into her job before having kids whereas Gaby is dealing with being plain and average for the first time in her adult life. Susan's sleeping around with the painter goes deeper than Gaby's affair with the gardener because she's dealing with her divorce, motherhood, and the guilt of the deaths of that mother and child that ran into she and Mike.

I don't know... I'm enjoying it, and "DH" has finally become to show I most look forward to each week. For the past few seasons, shows like "Grey's Anatomy," "Criminal Minds," "Dancing with the Stars," "Brothers and Sisters," "Lost," and "Ugly Betty" have passed "DH" by, but so far I'm enjoying "DH" overall more than those other shows.

forget everything i said in my last post. this was the best season ever and the season finale was probably the best episode ever. i was rooting for psycho Dave, i wanted him to kill that kid so bad, but i knew he wouldn't. Tom and Orson were probably the best characters this season. Edi is dead! i hope Bree and Karl become a couple, she needs a strong man for once, one that won't let her run all over him. who did Mike marry??? it better have been Kathryn, damnit.

For having liked the season so much when it started, I hated it by the time it came to an end. Ugh.

I still have hope for the series, but Lord, a better effort needs to be made next season. I hope they don't try another mystery because the whole Dave thing was just excruciating. There wasn't anything to it. Most people guessed what he was up to in the first few episodes.

Ok, so season 6, in my opinion, is EXCELLENT! Much better than the past 2-3 seasons, which I still immensely enjoyed. The whole Italian family secret thing had me at a hook with the 9/11 reference. The plane crash too. I so want uh...Orson to be dead. The others to live!

Looks like Gabby will be in love with Lynette after rescuing her daughter. Man, I really love this season. Big improvement on Season 5.
