I liked the UK version and the international version wasn't bad.

I have my favorites there was Jet and er um I don't remember any other and I stopped watching once she left.

Finally! A reason to regularly use my TiVo! Dude, that obstacle course they did at the end, I can't recollect the name of it, with the tennis balls and stuff, WOW. When I was a kid, that was the epitome of athleticism right there. If you could get duffed out with a tennis ball and still gain enough composure to admit your defeat, my hats off to you.

Cool! I wish I could be part of it & take on those muscleshead, since I'm starting to get into weight lifting more. Thought I don't want to be very massive. Just a little bulk with some toned shape. :box:

The sweet tennis ball event was called "Assault," I believe. The big obstacle course at the end was called "The Eliminator." I always wanted to play "Assault," though, and I seem to remember a bunch of us getting together and making a tennis ball canon for our own recreations. Somebody's dad had an air compressor, and we made that shit work, yo.

Really, it's a miracle that I'm still alive.

Craig Plestis, NBC's executive VP, alternative programming, development and specials: "Hulk Hogan is an American icon. For over twenty years he has been a symbol of strength and toughness in all facets of entertainment. His electrifying personality will no doubt inspire Herculean efforts from our everyday challengers. There is no one more qualified to host this program."

"American Gladiators" executive producer and Reveille Managing Director Howard T. Owens: "Hulk Hogan is going to rock the American viewing public as the host of 'American Gladiators. This is the ultimate television vehicle for the ultimate action television star, The Hulk!"

I can't find a credit link but I've looked around and it appears to be true

Actually the addition of Hogan has diminished my interest.

If Hogan is going to be in it, I hope he will just be a straight forward color comentator, instead of his over caffenated typical television look. Take a cue from the original US series.

Same here.

I used to watch the old show back in the day. I even had some of the action figures. Gemini & Laser!

Totally pumped about this. Who cares who the commentators are? I'm really loving the comeback of athletics based game shows. Although, Ninja Warrior will be tough to top.

I always felt this show's format would lend itself well to an action film.

Oh man I see no way this tops Ninja Warrior. That show is just plain cool.

I love American Gladiators. I used to watch that show religiously. Can't wait for this one. :) I DVR the re-runs on ESPN all the time and watch them.

Hoping not to completely turn this into the Ninja Warrior thread, but got to agree with everyone else, in that it completely overshadows Gladiators. Just started watching it, and even the first stage of the competition makes the "eliminator" look easy. :p

I look at American Gladiator differently now. In the early 90's the big body builder types seemed bad ass. But todays action stars, pro wrestlers, MMA fighters, and athletes are smaller but more crafty, agile, and determined.

I dont see the big muscle heads as being successful against todays athletes.

I'm so looking forward to this, I was an avid AG viewers back in the 90's.

The best thing of all is that the show is in HD, move over crappy SD reality shows!

I'm watching it right now and it's not bad. I still prefer the classic American Gladiators, but this is pretty entertaining. The new one certainly is more challenging.

Or maybe not (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/news/e3id78469d811368539a5d006565a2b93ae)

NBC's "American Gladiators." Gladiators ready? No, gladiators are not ready. This competition-series revival enjoyed terrific ratings for its initial run during the WGA strike early this year. A second season launched in May and saw a sharp drop in viewers, with ratings fading throughout its summer run. Most consider reality shows cheap to produce, but this stunt-heavy arena competition is not. NBC has not mentioned "Gladiators" on the record, but it's considered canceled.

Not surprise it was cancel. It just never live up to the original. Most game show that are update to the original don't last long. Not to mention some of the new games, costumes on the Gladiators, etc. were pretty bland.
