View Full Version : The Thread for People who Actually LIKE this Film
I am actually a pretty big fan of this movie. It has so much hatred all over. The thing is, this film was hated by a lot of people for over a year before it was released just do to the fact that it didn't have Robert.
I am a huge fan of the Elm Street film. I have the up most respect for Robert Englund. That doesn't mean I think Jackie did a bad job though. I actually really liked his version of the character.
I thought this was actually a better horror film then some of the sequels such as Elm Street 4 and Freddy's Dead. I still like them all though.
So, leave your hate for other threads, because this is the thread for people who actually ENJOY this film.
I don't love the film, but I liked it.
It had some problems and there was at least one glaring omission, what was the point of Freddy's glove? He wasn't killing anyone that we saw, so his signature weapon had absolutely no reason to be in the movie.
Even if they wanted to focus on the molestation angle they could have at least said there were some child killings at the same time and Freddy was suspected after he was killed, but it was never proven. Then give Freddy some dialogue admitting that he was the murderer as well, but kept those specific kids alive because they were his favourites.
Out side of that I think the movie was pretty good.
I didn't mind the make-up change, I like that they showed his teeth through his cheek.
I like that he was darker, fewer jokes, but that the ones they gave him were dark too.
I was annoyed by the lead who played Nancy, but Kyle Gallner was really good in this. Probably the best actor and best character.
It's too bad Freddy wasn't written a little better, they could have given him more dialogue, it didn't have to be all jokes and one-liners, but a little more to flesh out his character.
Micro-naps were an awesome idea.
All in all, I liked it.
Not enough to buy it, as I'm not a big fan of the original series either.
The original and part 3 were really good. The remake was good too.

For me having Jackie as Freddy isn't why I hated it. I'm open to remakes and new ideas. I loved TCM remake and the prequel. I enjoyed Rob Zombies Halloween and I love the F13 remake or whatever you want to call it. Yes I do hate this film but since this thread is for people who like it then I'll discuss what I did like.
Freddy was more serious and dark again like Nightmare 2 which I REALLY liked and the film had a much more serious tone to it.
The opening credits were really cool and the music was creepy.
I liked how Freddy made the first kid look like he comitted suicide in the diner was really a cool way to start the film.
BUT... I'd have to rate this movie at the very bottom of the Nightmare list for me, even lower than Nightmare 5 and Freddys Dead. I was more than disapointed with this movie I'm sorry to say :-(

Ah. You're right, of course. My bad.
I think they did a great job at capturing what was scary about Freddy in the original two movies, especially the second one. I like it how Freddy took himself serious. I also love that thing Jackie does with the claws where they scrape against eachother going back and forth really fast.

I meant compared to the Nightmare Remake I enjoyed it. It was interesting, definitely one of my lest favorites in the series. My favorite being the original Halloween 2
Now, I like the Elm Street remake a lot more then Rob Zombie's Halloween.

Not me. Rob Zombies Halloween looks like a masterpiece compared to Nightmare remake IMO

When it comes to those two remakes, you have to decide which one you can stomach more: thoroughly realized mediocrity achieved by lazy photocopying, or a half-baked misfire that can't make up its mind on what it wants to be.

I loved the visual style of this movie. The lighting was great and everything had the look of high production values. If I hit the mute button, this is a great movie to *watch*. Um. . . yep! :D

It's not completely horrible. Parts of it I liked. But the Friday remake was the best of the 3 main that were remade.
