Carla Gugino has joined the cast of Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films' "Righteous Kill," the Jon Avnet crime drama that reteams Robert De Niro and Al Pacino as New York cops chasing a serial killer.

Gugino has been cast as the female lead, a crime-scene investigator with a dark personal life who enters into a relationship with De Niro's character.

The casting comes on the heels of Gugino joining "Watchmen," Zack Snyder's adaptation of the Alan Moore-Dave Gibbons DC Comics miniseries for Warner Bros. Pictures, in which she will play Sally Jupiter/Silk Spectre.

Producing "Kill" are Avi Lerner, Randall Emmett, Avnet, Boaz Davidson, George Furla and Alexandra Milchan. Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short will serve as exec producers.

Russell Gewirtz wrote the screenplay for the $60 million movie, which goes before cameras at month's end.

I remember when this first was announced (without a title or plot then) that they were making clear that Pacino and De Niro were teaming for an independent movie, which I found funny... Hollywood movies have gotten so bad that Pacino and De Niro teaming up for a movie for the whole thing (which Heat failed to do) could only come from an independent production. Haha

Exile, exactly. I haven't seen his new fantasy movie yet, but most of the time, De Niro makes his living being De Niro. He last great acting job may have been "Men of Honor".

You know, I just saw that TM and thought "that can't be right--Men of Honor is at least five or six years old; surely DeNiro has done something worthwhile since then," but I was wrong. I really haven't enjoyed anything he's been in lately, even though I still haven't seen The Good Shepard or City by the Sea.

"City by the Sea" is very ** shakes hand** meh-y.

I was pretty shocked when I'd came to this realization too.

Well, maybe he'll redeem himself with this and the supposed sequel to the Departed (I have no clue if that's still happening, though).

I'm in, especially if DeNiro and Pacino work as well as they did together in Heat.

i've read alot of negative reviews for this but i just watched it and fully enjoyed it. Deniro and Pacino were both great, best movie and performance i've seen from either of them in quite awhile. the story kept me interested all the way through. is Donnie Wahlberg going to a play a cop in every single movie he's in now? Righteous Kill, Dead Silence, SAW II, III, & IV. he's good as cop in all those roles, but come on. overall it's a solid action/thriller flick. i say if you're a DeNiro & Pacino fan you should check it out.

Yeah, I seen this on Friday. I don't get the bad reviews...if it was anyone than DeNiro and Pacino, it would get praised, because it IS a good mystery/thriller.

I think people were just expecting some epic type shit for DeNiro and Pacino...but it is what it is, a good thriller with terrific performances from DeNiro and Pacino.

I saw this tonight and thought it was pretty good. It's got a little twist at the end and a few comedic moments. I think Pacino and DeNiro work well with each other. I recommend it.

It's got a little twist at the end
did you predict the twist? when they'd show DeNiro on that videotape doing his confessions, i figured someone else was making him say it. for awhile i actually thought it was the female cop, until she got assaulted. after that i figured it was Pacino.

and a few comedic moments.
"you can suck my balls anytime."
"what?"
"i said you can call me anytime"

No I didn't predict it, but I'm never good at predicting the way things turn out in the end anyway :doggy:
