Ideas for NFL Picks 2011-12

Well it looks like we're going to have football this season (I think). I know last year we had some discussion on an easier/better way to run the pick em league, rather than count the picks. Some people made some suggestions, but nothing was definite. This thread is for people to voice their ideas on a better way we can do it, and also suggest any changes that we can make.


If we're unable to come up with anything, I'd be more than happy to do the counting again. It's not really that difficult. So fire away with your ideas...

I totally forgot about the picks! The *biggest* issues were people getting them in on time, I found. I figure give everyone a bye week. That way if you "forget" to pick, well that's your free bye week.

Of course on the LAST week there could be problems if you're just a few games off plus some weeks have more games than others so it HAS to be a week that has byes.

I'm man enough to take 0-16 if I forget, but some aren't.

We can play pick 'em on Yahoo. All I have to do is create a private league and all of us can join and the picks will automatically be calculated for us. That way we don't have to type out all of our picks, nobody has to count them, and it eliminates potential scoring errors.

Thoughts on that?

If we still have the option to email the picks to someone in case yahoo is down or whatever, I think it could work.

I don't think it's possible for the leader or another player to enter another player's picks in the Yahoo league. So unless most of us agree that if you don't get your picks in by game time you're S.O.L., the Yahoo league won't be possible.

In my opinion, if you don't think you'll be able to get your picks in on time, you best not play the game. In most cases, you have a full week to get them in, or e-mail them to me or another member. If you think there's a possibility that you won't be able to get them in late in the week after looking at injuries, inactives, and other factors, go ahead and post them early. It's better to have uninformative predictions than none at all.

Anyway, keep posting your thoughts and opinions on this. If you're satisfied with the way we've been doing it, then say so. If we're unable to come up with anything, I'll just plan to continue the thing like we've always done. Again, I don't mind tallying the scores. I have a system in place that makes it easy for me to do, so don't worry about me.

Yeah it would be nice to keep the picks thread to only picks only and discussion for another thread.
