Not sure if there's a thread already, quick search said there wasn't. Post and discuss your home theater setups here. Audio and video. Whatcha runnin?

I started out with a simple Vizio soundbar that was way better than my 55" Hitachi DLP Tv's speakers.. Now I've got the itch to go full on 5.1 with receiver. Gotta have surround sound. To me great audio is more important than some shiny new flat screen with the blackest blacks,3D, and whatnot.

Toshiba Regza 42in LCD
Pioneer 5.1digital/ 7.1 analog receiver, I think 550W.
2 JL audio tower speakers, and JBL center, and 2 JBL rear speakers. Sony 12 sub.
Pioneer 3D BluRay.

Samsung HDDVD/Blu Ray player (it died).

Nice. I'm building a surround sound system up piece by piece. Probably going to only do 5.1.

Wow, just one response. Everyone else just post your TVs if that's all you're running.

Sharp Aquos 42" LCD Display
PS3/Blu-Ray
Klipsch HD Dream Theater 500 5.1 Surround Speakers
Onkyo TX-SR 707 THX Audio/Video Processor (running @ 5.1)

...and I love it.

One of the things I am looking forward to at the end of my deployment is getting a kick ass home system when I get back. I dont usually spend a lot of money on stuff, but since I am saving a lot of money up being over here for a year this is one time where I will go all out.

I am going to get a minimum of a 55" 3D LED and some really nice surround sound speakers. Its about 9 months out so no point in looking now, because new things will be out by then, and prices will have dropped.

Sony Bravia 46" 1080p
Sony Sound Studio EX 5.1 surround sound system
Xbox 360 Valhalla model with HD-DVD attachment
Playstation 3
Nintendo Wii.

I have never owned a dedicated DVD or Blu-Ray player. I've never seen the point given that I run with hardware that does that and more.

Also, it's a fucking wire nightmare behind there! Cables every which way. Last time I went back there I was forced to eat my sherpa.

True. The PS3 also use to be the king of blu ray players, but the stand alones have bridged the gap at about half the price. Some offer apps that the PS3 doesn't. Still for price, quality, and gaming as a bonus the PS3 is a great deal.

Also, please keep in mind who I am. Video games are my medium, so in my home Blu-ray is the bonus and video games are the primary function. I love a good movie, but I love a good game more.

I hear ya. I've always been an Xbox guy, if I owned a PS3 I wouldn't bother with a stand alone either. But my gaming days are becoming fewer and far between.

I own everything because I don't want to deny myself a good game base don platform. I spend most of my time on my Xbox 360, but having options is great.
