What I mean by this is, what's the average or how many times do you play a game you bought brand new for say $50-$70? I started to think about this when I went to look how many times I've played Smackdown vs Raw 07 and saw it was only 12 days. I believe I bought it within the first few days or week of release as I got the last LE version at gamestop.

If you have an account set up 360voice.com it shows how many day's you've "played" each game since you've registerd. Also it has to be when your logged in online for it to recgonize. So I've been signed up for a year now and like 5 days. Within the year the game that I've played the most is NBA 2K7 with 57 days. There might be maybe a few days I played it more if my 360 wasn't hooked up online but I don't think so. Then I have Madden 07 with 45 days. Now granted I hated that game online, I still liked the single player and did play that alot for the achievements. Gears of War I have in at 40 days, and then Rainbow 6 at 27 days with GRAW 2 for 26 days. Dead or Alive 4 at 23 days which I know is ALOT more then that because that was one of the first 360 games I bought in March of last year so I played that during those 5 months before I registered for the site with the most playing being recently. I'd probably say it's about in the high 40's or low 50's I've played it.

Then Crackdown for 17 days even though I purchased that expansion pack and some of those days are for the Halo 3 beta.

Then the rest is as follows -

Of course that's just "roughly" as I've had some of those games before I signed up for the site and or I played when my internet was out so I didn't sign into xbox live.

I would say my average is about 12-17 days depending on the game, how long it takes to beat and how long the multiplayer online keeps me tuned in.

For the one's that I currently own that I plan to start playing again or want to play is GOW, GRAW 2, R6, and of course Madden 08. Then I'll pop in one of the single player only games here and there still trying for 100% completion of achievements like Superman, Spiderman, and arcade games.

I also own pretty much ALL those games except for like maybe 3-4 of them that were just arcade demo's or I rented.

I only buy a game if I know I'm going to play it for a long, long time. Everything else is a rental. That's why I usually only buy sports games because they never really end, you know?

Of course I buy the big event, must-have games like Halo or GTA, but, for the most part, it's got to be something I really, really want. Otherwise, I'll just rent it, beat it, and be done with it.

My average game's lifespan is a few weeks. I tend to play RPGs, so they take a while to get through, but I won't normally replay them. That said, the game I've probably spent the most time on is Soul Calibur III, just because it provided a huge amount of drunk entertainment at uni. Best purchase I ever made, that.

probably a month for me.

I love games that never get old like Tetris...the kind that don't discourage replayability, like sports games. For instance, I could still have a great time (no lie) playing Madden 94 on Sega Genesis.

I also keep all my games. Once in a great while especially when I'm strapped for cash I'll trade some in. I hate to because by the time I get to trading them in they've lost so much value (with the people at gamestop/EB) that I hate getting only $10 or less for them when I paid $50+ for them.

Like for Resistance Fall of Man, I really didn't want to get rid of that game but I never played it because of the downconverting it did to 480p. But I also wanted Ninja Gaiden so bad in which I played that for like 2 weeks straight which was way more then FOM got. Heck that's the most playing time my PS3 got period. I still have a ton of xbox games that I may never play again but I still hang on to them just because the money I've spent on em and when my kids get older they can play them. I still have my Dreamcast and many games for that lol

Now that I made this thread and actually thought about it and how many games I have and how little I've played them just makes me want to play even more lol But I do spend some good hours playing so it's not like play 30 mins or less.

Well, time for some Madden!

Hell yeah, I could still have fun playing Tecmo Bowl on the Nintendo

Typically a couple days, I usually beat it by then or get bored.

It all depends on the game, though. Like Zombie, I keep ALL of my old games (several hundred from Atari 2600 to Wii). I still play Age of Empires regularly, ten years after its' release, and will go back every once in awhile to play Punchout!!!, Earthbound, Starcraft, etc.

If you truly love a game, it's "life span" never ends.

I'll spend a lot of time on certain games.

I've beaten Resident Evil 4 over 40 times (I've owned it since launch day on the Game Cube). I can beat Resident Evil 2 in under two and a half hours, so I play through it from time to time. I still play Raw vs. Smackdown regularly. I've still not finished Final Fantasy XII or Tales from Symphonia, and I've owned both for ages. I play through Metroid: Zero Mission from time to time, and I still play Metroid: Fusion quite often.

If it's a game I like, it's lifespan is pretty much indefinite.

Most games I have, if I don't play them constantly, I'll still pick them up every so often and play them.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon is something that I almost always turn on and have a game of. More storyline based games like Metal Gear Solid 2, I'll go through the whole game every few months.

I put some serious miles on RE 4 to the point that I knew every piece of every level inside and out. Manhunt was the only other game like that for me...and both of those happen to have the most realistic displays of violence IMO. Maybe the realism has something to do with it my addiction to them (yes I realize the enemies themselves aren't realistic but they ways you can kill them is.)

Except that in real life, no matter how good your aim is, a handgun isn't going to pop a guy's head up like an over full water balloon. :p The violence in RE 4 is pretty over the top, I think.

I know RE 4 inside and out as well. I can pretty much tell my friends where to find what, and I never get surprised by a snake in a barrel.

Let's see, back in the old days, I would play my games on a regular basis. I never timed out how many days though. I generally go a few weeks, before rotating to something else. Unless it was something that I really obsessed about or had to beat it again with a different character. Like Castlevania III and Mortal Kombat II. Games like Final Fantasy, I would work on getting the best possible items or trying to figure out certain Game Genie codes. Now, if I got a couple at once, then I would switch back and forth after a time playing one. The longest I've obsessed have been Castlevania III, which with the exception of a few breaks here and there, I spent a year working on beating every level and using every character. Playing it twice so that I could take certain characters to places that they didn't go the first time. And of course, back in the old days, I had friends who would get new games so I would get distracted and play those games when a certain amount of time had passed.

There is just something about the feel of it. Most games feel very fake: GTA, Halo, Splinter cell, Call of Duty...none of those are realistic displays of violence to me. Tee way the character dies feels way too cheap. In RE4 I feel like I'm really killing my opponent, same as in Manhunt.

Just depends on the game really. If I get through it and don't get bored at all I'll play it through again to see if I can beat my own time.

Certain games, like Tony Hawk 2, which is my favorite game ever, I can pull out and waste hours on any time really.

I remember back in the days of PSX and when RE 1 and 2 came out I played those for hours just to get the unlockable's like rocket launchers and different guns, also beating it in under so many hours. That's when there wasn't any "achievement" points and what not to be obsessed over.

I've actually started thinking about the whol achievement's thing and while it's a great idea I think it's become way to abused. Even by me. I was happy when I completed Madden 08 and got all the achievements and of course still playing, but then I know a couple that could care less about the game and just rented it to add an easy 1k points to their already 65k + gamerscore. I've done the same once as well like with NBA 2K6, I have 2K7 but got 2K6 for the easy 1k points (this was during the old spice challenge to get 1500 points for free games, xbl points, etc...) but then I look back at Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PS3 and was so into it that I forgot about points.

Also it ruins games especially on multiplayer when people are just "boosting" others and not really earning them. I sometimes wonder what it would be like without the point system and how I would have or not have played games as? Would I have played longer or shorter?

I usually ALWAYS beat my games I buy, might be within a few days, few weeks, or even month's. Like Far Cry I played that in short periods but eventually beat and not even for the points just to beat it because it costed me $50.

I'm thinking of turning off alerts and just play without knowing if I got an achievement or not and see how I do that way and kind of stay away from the site's that show me my score and compare with others and what not. We'll see what happens.
