It's up and running on the web, and there's a smartphone app in testing right now only available by invite...

But is anyone else using this yet? Seems alright, but not too many people have it yet so I don't have too many "friends" or "followers" (or whatever they call them) yet. So I'm a searching people out. Anyone here using it?

I got an invite from a guy at work and I've been looking around in it. Seems pretty dead, though. Google might wanna open it up to more people if they want it to survive.

Technically all of us who got invites are supposed to be testing this shit, but I agree they should open up more invites. Once all the testing is done they'll open it to the general public.

Looked at it for five minutes after my friend emailed me. Not impressed. That's likely to change.

I did a survey on facebook during class in 2005 and I wrote in big bold letters "Myspace is better..." and handed it back to the statistics guy.

Larry and I have it.

Yeah, kinda hard to test something that no one is using...

It basically seems like Facebook crossed with Twitter, kind of cool, I guess. I'll admit I got a kick out of the email that said "Todd Farmer has added you on Google Plus."

I may have a go when it's up and running (on the other hand I only got a Twitter a few weeks ago and that was only so I could follow some wrestlers ) but I doubt it will kill Facebook like some are predicting

If you guys wanna shoot me a PM with your emails I'll add you. The more people we have the easier it will be to test...

I like the concept of Circles, where you can post things in certain groups. This way I can talk horror with horror fans, religion with my church buds, politics with my political buff friends, and science and comics with my band of geeks.

I highly doubt this will overthrow Facebook or Twitter, but I still want to experiment with it and see how it is.

I guess this will reveal how out of the loop I am, but I don't even really know what it is. I've seen a few people talking about it on Facebook and Tumblr, but I had never heard of it. Judging from this thread it's apparently Google's attempt at "social networking"?

Pretty much Lanceman. For some reason, Google's only allowing it to be invite only at the moment... its pretty boring at first if you don't have many followers or you're not following me, but once you get some followers then its pretty cool.

Have be honest, even now that I'm on it, I don't have a damn clue what's going on.

Seems like the only people who are really excited about + are the more techie types. I don't think it's different enough to get anyone else excited. FB has the beauty of simplicity going for it. "Like" is much more accessible to the average joe than "+1". As someone else said, when I see +1, I think of getting an extra life on Mario or something. And you wouldn't say in real life "Oh, man I +1'd that movie so much!" But you would say "I liked it." I don't think Google quite grasps it yet.

Two other arguments I've heard people make for +... "No ads!" and "No games!" If it becomes popular enough, you'll see both in no time, believe me. And to Facebook's credit, they've toned the ads and games stuff way, way down. I don't even notice ads anymore, and whenever I get a game invite, all I have to do is block the app. Doesn't exactly ruin my day, but I guess for some people that's apparently a pretty large hassle.

I checked out the online demo. Seems interesting, but I will pass on it for now. I dont need to update 2 social network pages.

Some of the things I like on Google+ though:

Circles- you can share specific things with specific people. Like I could share a military discount or weapon on sale with my military circle, or a picture of a hot girl with my guy friends circle.

Sparks- Has potential

In general I like that this has more of a 'network' feel rather than the 'wall' feel of FB. But still sticking with FB for now.

ok this crap is annoying me. Everytime I send a photo message to one of my friends' cell phones, the dang thing uploads to my google account. DO NOT LIKE!

You can change that in your settings.

No that FB and twitter have integrated it seems like G+ is kinda irrelevant now, plus if it's gonna be like everything else google makes it's going to seriously rely on you abandoning everything else you use in favor of the Google collective
