I didn't think this subject would be missed in a forum with very opinionated people. I didn't think it would go under any other title than the one I searched for. So if this is a duplicate thread then I guess put it in the right place, if not...
Then post your theories or theories that you've heard of by other people and discuss. I just read this (http://m.io9.com/5659999/nasa-caught-photoshopping-an-image-of-saturns-moons-what-were-they-trying-to-hide?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gizmodo%2Ffull+%28Gizmodo%29) today and found it interesting. NASA photoshopping pictures. Now it might not be strange for them to enhance colors and and sharpen images, but in the picture in the blog this person found they NASA airbrushed over a glow on one of Saturns moons. Any thoughts?

If you read that whole link you posted NASA give a pretty reasonable, in fact downright sensible reason for the 'shopping. I'm pretty sure if there had been any ET life exposed they would have just 'lost' the pic altogether rather than edit it and put it out!

Alien cover up is one the very few conspiracy theories I will give any credit too. Simply based on the numbers- there's been thousands upon thousands of reported UFO sightings and encounters, you'd have to believe at least a few of them are true.
But why do you think the government would cover it up? Prevent mass panic? I could understand an Area-51 cover up. They had alien bodies and technology they wanted to study and didn't want other countries (particularly USSR at the time) to know about it.
As for general sightings and encounters, what would be the primary motivator to hide it?

I never said I believed this.... I just thought it would be a cool subject to discuss... not just this article, but other articles that might come up, or other theories people in here might have.
If no one has any theories they want to share or discuss, I guess this will be a dead thread.

I believe the same. Flashes of lights are normally comets, meteors, etc...
But hovering flying objects that defy the laws of physics I believe are the military test-flying their fighter planes. They're very top secret and are only used very seldom in combat overseas.
I can't back that up, it's just what I believe.
I usually believe the simplest explanation is usually the correct one, but sometimes shit cannot be explain, and quite frankly nothing would surprise me in this world anymore.

Like I said, I don't believe in all of the sightings. But I'd have to think out of the 1000's of sightings, at least a few would have to be legit. Plus its hard to believe in this giant universe we're the only intelligent life form.

Uhhh... I guess this would fall under conspiracy theories. Either that, or they're batshit insane.
Randy & Evi Quaid: We're running for our lives (http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/celebrity.news.gossip/11/01/randy.and.evi.quaid.ppl/index.html?hpt=Sbin)
Randy and Evi Quaid insist they aren't mentally unstable, using drugs or lying about being pursued by a mysterious and deadly group of celebrity-extorting assassins.
The Quaids -- who were arrested last month in Canada and are due in court Tuesday in California after allegedly squatting in and wrecking their former Santa Barbara home -- spoke about their fears Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America."
"I genuinely feel these people are trying to kill us," Evi Quaid said. "We are refugees ... We are Hollywood refugees."
"They follow us, they tail us," Randy Quaid said of the "star whackers" from whom the couple claim to be running. "They tag our cell phone, they hack our computer." He added: "We're not faking it. We're confronting it."
The Oscar-nominated actor, 60, and his wife -- who were also previously accused of skipping out on a hotel bill -- denied that they were on drugs or mentally unstable. They also said other celebrities could be in danger, including Mel Gibson, Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears.
Randy Quaid added that it was "very possible that Heath Ledger could have been murdered" by the group, which he said is seeking to make cash by assassinating celebrities.
"It's possible for people to gain control of every facet of your life," he said.
Added Evi Quaid: "They are businessmen. It's the mafia. It's organized crime."

I don't see how you're so sure of this. We've been to the moon and are trying to get to Mars. If we had the technology we'd have walked on many planets by now. Its not a stretch to think there's other species out there who have achieved that technology and would thus poke around our planet.

Lack of credible evidence. There has never been a recurring incident where identical craft were identified. So many incidents, yet identical craft have never been spotted that wasn't explained or exposed as a hoax by science or just common fucking sense? Physical evidence like "crash sites" have been proven hoaxes time and time again. Photographic evidence has declined greatly since the introduction of higher resolution cameras and video. Practically everyone has a camera on their phones these days, shouldn't sightings be going up?
No credible scientific evidence has popped up since this nonsense started. There are just as many people who claim to have seen the Loch Ness Monster, despite Nessie being ecologically impossible.

I always love it when people try and demonize people like Bill Gates. He was one of the men that made huge advances in technology that have benefited the world over. Yet everyone treats him like a fucking supervillain because he had the audacity to make money using technology.
Meanwhile Michael Jordon is an American hero because he can bounce a goddamn ball really good.
And no, I'm not coming down on Michael Jordon. He's a physically gifted man and from what I hear a really nice guy. I just find the contrast in perception between someone who helped changed the world for the better through technological advancement and someone who plays a game really good laughable.

I wasn't getting defensive toward you. I was reacting to the "Bill Gates is trying to control you" comment, which I was well aware was sarcasm on your end. I had encountered someone who was sincere with that sentiment earlier in the day, and since it's a bogus conspiracy theory I felt this thread was apropos for venting.

My defense of Bill/Sam wasn't geared to you in particular either. I've heard many people (especially on the old board) attack Bill Gates and Walmart like they are evil for having money that they earned. Since the topic was already at hand here, I just thew my comments in.
Yea they both did point?
In general I just think its funny when people try to crucify the rich. I just like to point out that people are rich because they made better choices and worked harder than everyone else. Again, not geared at you Bio, just a collective response to comments I have heard over many years.
The 'twisted' comment was of course directed at you. As long as you keep posting conspiracy/big brother theories, I am going to keep busting your balls.

I believe in theories. Not all but some. A lot of theories are crazy and created by people who get labeled as "disinformationists." Well, by me. Others label them as crazy but also as people who wear foil hats. I think the notion of foil hats is absurd.
I studied a lot of criminological and sociological theories the last three semesters. In my spare time I read a lot and among my reading I studyconspiracy theories. My favourite professor told me that there is "no such thing as an absurd theory" in relation to me bringing up conspiracies in class. I agree with her, but some theories such as "reptilian shapeshifters" seem absurd to me.
The media is something I have noticed to be an effective tool in manipulating the publics view. For example, the public view in Canada is that crime is a growing problem and thus there needs to be harsh retributive measures in order to achieve justice. The media's portrayal of crime is consistently littered with violence however statistics reveal that only 11% of Crime in Canada is violent crime while a whopping 44% (the majority!) is property crime. So why does the media do this?
The media also warps other portrayals and controls how people think. In relation to conspiracy theories the media (especially American media) portrays conspiracy theorists as crazed "suicide warriors" or tin foil hat wearers.
So when conspiracy theories with fact (like anything 9/11 related or anything media/occult symbolism) are talked about they are easily brushed aside by the public.
The American government is known for deceit (Watergate and False Flag attacks - Google it) thus conspiracy theories such as 9/11 being a False Flag attack or inside job don't seem easy pass by especially considering the amount of evidence or fishy information.

Aliens attack to keep the universe (http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2011/aug/18/aliens-destroy-humanity-protect-civilisations) safe from humans because of greenhouse gasses.
It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack, scientists claim.
Watching from afar, extraterrestrial beings might view changes in Earth's atmosphere as symptomatic of a civilisation growing out of control – and take drastic action to keep us from becoming a more serious threat, the researchers explain.
This highly speculative scenario is one of several described by a Nasa-affiliated scientist and colleagues at Pennsylvania State University that, while considered unlikely, they say could play out were humans and alien life to make contact at some point in the future.
