I guess this should get its own thread since it will probably see the light of day before RTSC. I like the idea of Michael Simpson returning to the helm...after the failed Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor.
Anyways, sounds good and is apprently unlike any SC film...

Yeah, I actually think of Pamela Springsteen as Angela before i think of Felissa Rose, lol.

Because it never really showed Felissa kill anyone, well maybe except for the last scene but that still was offscreen. When it showed the killer in Part 1 it was Jonathan Tiersten, not Felissa.

It showed the back of his head as well.
But yeah, it does go along well with that notion. I believe in the commentary they mention it was to make people think it was Ricky.
yeah that is why they did it.. it showed his head in the lake under the canoe right?

Oh fuck no! SC 2 and 3 sucked donkey balls. How the hell can those hacks go on and make another one? Arenīt the rights back at the original director?
Well, although I think that the first film was a stand alone classic, I will say that Springsteen did a wonderful performance and that both films that proceeded 1 were chock full of creative death sequences.

I took more of the liking to 2 & 3. I honestly don't want RTSC to be released because it disregards Michael Simpson's films. I also think the storyboards for Berserk look awesome.

When I mentioned RTSC disregarding MAS's sequels to Felissa she got mad and said that's absurd anyone would think that. But, isn't that what Hiltzik has said- that the movie won't even mention the sequels and it'd be as if they never happened or perhaps it was a copycat killer?
Only reason I want to see RTSC is because it looked to be a good old fashioned camp slasher movie.

I wonder if this would catch on. Making sequels with different canons. I wonder if they'll the same with Halloween or Friday the 13th.
I think Zombie's Halloween will most definitley follow in the foosteps of the TCM remake and spawn atleast one sequel.

It's true Tally. Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 are not boring! They are very fun. They're almost as unboring as the original. :) And what is so wrong about "guy-on-guy" action? :p:D Hehe,
I can't wait for Berserk. Hopefully it will be seen by everyone within the next two years. Unlike another film I won't mention. >.>

I understand what you're saying, but it did fit well into the context of the story as far as blurring the line between gender roles.

I've always thought that impossible due to the fact only a VHS master of the workprint exists, and that the workprint was pre-soundtrack, but seeing some absolutely kickass editing of Phantasm & its deleted scenes by a friend has renewed my interest in seeing an uncut SC3 chopped together in a decent fashion. At the very least I may upload a LQ version of the complete workprint to the website for viewing, or the deleted scenes that weren't shown on the DVD as they weren't gore orientated.

I definately want to see Berserk more than Return, as with Berserk, it can probably live up to the hype. With Return, it'd be very hard to match the original. Berserk is much easier. Just bring out the laughs and mindless gore!
Seeing Felissa Rose return to the role of Angela would be a plus though..

In Berserk I'd love Pam Springsteen, but that's not happening. As for Felissa's Angela, well... now it's apparent that Sleepaway Camp and Return To... are a separate universe than the Michael Simpson sequels.

There were rumors that RTSAC was going to make Angela in 2 and 3 a "copycat" and not the real deal. I wonder how true that is.
Whatever happened to Pamela Springsteen? Last I can recall is that she became a photographer...and that's about it. I'd love to see her back as her Angela from part 2 had such a charisma about her.

Like I said before I am boycotting RTSAC, lol. I will buy it but used only o no money goes towards it. It's bullshit... I remember the big word was we'd see it this Winter, but I'd give up one of my nuts if we actually do. I think the movie is just a piece of shit and Hiltzik is ashamed of it... reshooting, trying to re-edit or whatever.
We've heard every excuse... re-shoots, re-edits, CGI, blah, blah, blah. It's going to be even more of an insult if they "shop it around" and we have to wait even longer.
I hope this one happens because I prefer Michael Simpson's Sleepaway Camp sequels to the first one.
Robert Hiltzik created these characters, so I feel that he is entitled to delivering closure to this campfire tale.

I hear a lot a of talk about the CGI being added. I hope it doesn't turn into Bee Movie or something like that. I hate CGI in most cases & especially when it's in horror movies.
I want to see RTSC but this waiting shit is ridiculous. It's been over 4 years since it's been done. Maybe Rob is just saying all that shit to hype up the movie. If that's the case, it just makes me less interested in it.
And the SCF.com chat that went down a few months ago with Michael Simpson & Benji Wilhoite definitely made me more excited for Berserk.

I agree. Although I do really like part one, I prefer the sequels.
There were rumors that RTSAC was going to make Angela in 2 and 3 a "copycat" and not the real deal. I wonder how true that is.
Not true. But I believe SC2/3 can be jammed into RTSC's continuity due to Angela's ahem, gender status in RTSC. Just depends on how much backstory they give Angela in RTSC - if alot, it'll be hard. If they're skim with the details, we can jam 'em in I'm sure. As SC2/3 didn't feature Ricky/Ronnie, at this point it's possible they may not step on each other. Even though Hiltzik designed it as a direct sequel and to disregard sequels he hasn't even fully watched. That may work in our favor.
I'd be highly surprised if RTSC came out in 2008. There's no evidence it will. Of course it's got to come out some day - I assume.
Hopefully there will be movement on BERSERK or one of the other projects.

That is true to some extent, but the way these people have jerked the fans around for the last 4 years makes their credibility fly out the window faster than Jason Voorhees can throw you out. They give every excuse in the world.....this, that.....really, who gives a shit anymore?

That's true, they all can be intertwined into the same timeline... but for some reason I feel that Hiltzik doesn't like what Simpson did with the series and may just ignore them, or worse write (wrote) in that it was a copycat or something.
Anyone ever hear anything of Hiltzik's opinion on 2 and 3?

I highly doubt it. She won;t even sign autographs for the movie, I doubt unless she is paid a big chunk she won't. I'm sure she's making more money now than she could be paid.
Anyone ever hear anything of Hiltzik's opinion on 2 and 3?
He's only watched "bits" apparently but thinks they ripped off his SC2 script. Which is funny because A) he sold that script + the SC rights fair and square, B) the script was unfilmable and only scant ideas were used from it, and C) Robert got a more than fair "story" credit for both SC2&3.
That's how RTSC really came about - the info they don't tell you in all the hype - he rewrote his 80's SC2 script to be 'current' (rap, baggy pants, etc.).

Although I prefer the original Sleepaway Camp over the two sequels, Berserk is one I'm itching to see. I do, however, think that "boycotting" the film is kind of silly. (Sorry scabboy). Yeah, it's stupid that 4 years later, crap is being filled into the film, but not supporting the DVD release kind of sounds just like an an, unneeded stab. Watch the film(if ever released), love it or hate it, buy it new/used, rent it, whatever. Just, don't set out to detroy at all costs. Hehe,
A shame about Pamela Springsteen. It'd be great to see her as Angela again.
Hiltzik doesn't sound like a very likeable man to me at ALL! Urgh, silly guy. Dispite his film being my all time favourite, he receives no brownie point. Poor sportsmanship.
Anyways...whichever comes first (99.9% sure it's Berserk) I can't wait to see. I just hope atst one of them lives up to the hype. Can you imagine if they both sucked? Gaaaahh!

I literally hope Hiltzik has a hard time distributing it, and it bombs. He deserves that shit for his lie after lie after lie. He even had Felissa Rose on her forum LYING. There's no way I'll be paying for a copy. I'll likely snag a review copy anyway. They've already lost heaps of money by not releasing it in a timely fashion. It'll be dated by the time it comes out. I'm sure one of the main reasons RTSC has yet to be released is because Hiltzik knows it sucks and probably regrets even doing it. It was probably one of those impromtu decisions fueled by anger in the heat of the moment. He probably read somewhere on the Internet about how much people like 2 and 3. Doing the commentary for SC1 probably just fueled him even more. There's not a story to tell where he's trying to fit one in at...and he's fucking with continuity so that pisses me off (one thing I hope the new F13 doesn't do [since it's apparently not a reboot]). And Hitlzik probably knows he's gonna get boo'd for this Camp.

The only footage I have seen of "The Survivior".....and what is on the Anchor Bay extras disc.....is some chick running around in a 2-piece bikini and laying around in a 2-piece bikini sunbathing.
Did I miss something? :shifty:
Maybe you guys mean the script was more promising in the fact that it would have tied them all together? I hope so because, if that is all it was going to be was yet another swimsuit contest, then I, too, am glad it got dumped. It appeals to me too...but it doesn't seem like the same Angela that we've seen in the previous films:confused:

That was the first day's footage worth, and in the 2 week intermin before the next round of shooting they did, a test trailer was cut together out of the essentially second unit stuff they shot. That first day's worth was all I could help unearth at the time for the Survival Kit release - thought it would be good for completists. We should all visit a set sometime, and see how boring filming really is. Sleepaway Camp 2 also had a scene of a girl (Renee Estevez) running around the woods - if we were to show the hours of daillies of that single seen to a non-fan, I'm sure they'd jump to conclusions too.

I think I may agree that RTSC probably sucks, and Hiltzik is just overhyping it. He may have done "it" once before, but I doubt he could pull "it" off again. SC may rock, but this sequel...I shouldn't judge until I see the flick. But this prolonging definately seems as if the movie screwed up somewhere.

No, I agree. I am glad that we have THAT footage...any footage at all in the boxset is better than nothing. I understand where you are coming from about the footage. I just meant, judging by that alone....it's probably best it wasn't made at all. But, again, that's just me and my opinion.
And as you said if a non-fan...or someone that wasn't familiar with the series was to see that footage alone, and they were hardcore HORROR fans, it would seem like poop. Nothing in that footage shows any inklng of murder, mayhem, horror, or anything else OTHER than, as I have stated before, other than you average titty flick....which I'm sure most guys on here would find appealing, but when I go to see a HORROR movie, that's what I want. HORROR.

The footage for The Survivor is like 2 scenes, and not even edited together properly, no sound, and so on. Judging by them you can never get a perfect opinion on what the movie could have been.
If the footage I helped unearthed and ended up on a free disc looks like a titty flick, then dammit it's a titty flick! It doesn't matter that they could go to my site, get more info - even read the script treatment - and the details of the gory, over-the-top ending that would have rivaled the first flick's - all that really matters to the layman is the obvious. And I respect that, because as intelligent people we need to be able to form opinions based on little info present. I'm probably biased - after all, ever since '92 folks said A) it was never made, at all and B) it had no Angela. I proved both to be bullshit over the years as I uncovered promo material, people who worked on it, extensive info and indeed, actual footage. From my POV it was the culmination of 10 years research and trudging on in the face of fans calling me "nuts" and "chasing ghosts". From my way of thinking I was glad they were puting all of what we got on that free disc instead of a few shots. For completists. Dave from HorrorDVDs.com "got it". I'm glad it's out there - that the rarest of the rare is now stupdendously easy to get now even if it's taken for granted. Hell, I'm glad folks are even talking about it. I'll spend the next 15 years, too, trying to get it completed/released.
If anyone has any Berserk script questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

I remember defending Dusk back in the day over the footage. People on the F13 forum bitched about it really being nothing. Although partially true, that is beside the point. The fact that true fans can see footage from a film never released/barely shot is what is really the point here. If the same footage would have been part of an unreleased F13 movie, people would have went nuts over it. I doubt Dusk even remembers this but it stands out in my mind for many reasons. The bonus disc is what really turned me onto what the new wave of DVDs of obscure horror films could really accomplish. Between that and the internet, so much could be learned about films that really would have been tough to find without these mediums. Second of all, without the bonus disc, I would not have bought the set and therefore have shut me off to slashers with human killers. At the time, I wouldn't watch slashers if they had human killers, just a thing I had at the time.
I really just couldn't figure out why they'd even bother posting about the "worthlessness" of the footage when they obviously weren't fans and especially when a dude was looking for footage - and got it released, for years and got it out to the people he wanted to get it out to. I remember someone actually said to Dusk "hey man, Criterion does that shit every day". I remember just thinking I wanted to strangle that idiot because that comment was so inane that I lost hope for the world for a brief moment.

As I have mentioned in my previous posts, I am glad we have that disc and footage. All I was stating was my opinion in that it basically shows nothing to my knowledge.
And no, if the exact same footage was "unearthed" for Friday the 13th for a bonus disc, I would say the EXACT same thing...."I am glad we have this disc and footage, but it is basically null and void concerning the story of Jason Voorhees/Pamela Voorhees."
From MY viewpoint. You can still be appeciative of something and still show objectiveness towards it. Not that you...old-boo-radley...were necessarily referring to my comments but, my comments are not directed towards Dusk or anyone else affiliated with "The Survivor" footage. I don't care where the footage came from or if it had been Friday the 13th, Halloween, or Star Wars, I would feel the same way.
If "lost" footage from 'Friday the 13th' had consisted of what the footage of 'The Survivor' consists of, I could take it or leave it because it deals no death blow to the story or franchise in any way.
I am not saying I am not appreciative of Dusk for getting us this material. I am. The footage the filmmakers shot is what i am refering to. Not Dusk's attempt's to acquire this for us. There is a difference. I am not attacking him or his efforts.
Hey SilverShamrock, are you CampNewBlood?

You are right Old. Any die-hard/true fan of Sleepaway Camp would not only be happy with the footage, but fid the footage as a valuable artifact for the franchise.

Hey SilverShamrock, are you CampNewBlood?
I take it you are being sarcastic. Yet another topic of discussion where if you don't agree with everyone else, you are "not a fan".
Oh no, I wasn't being sarcastic...I just actually noticed that it said it in you sig;)

Any new developments concerning Berserk? Would be cool to have Pamela Springsteen return.

So, with Dusk's scoop about Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor being near completion, I'm wondering... where does that leave the "Berserk" project?
This is one film I would love to see come to fruition.

Still deader than Elvis, I imagine.

Also, I haven't really kept up with the whole Sleepaway Camp franchise as much as I have others, but why are there competing films, in the first place? Doesn't one person or company own the rights? Or is it a situation where more than one person owns the rights to use it and thus, different sequels (similar, I would imagine to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and James Bond situations from a few years back).

Wes, I think most of it revolves around how creator Robert Hiltzik is a dipshit.
Others can probably expound on that a little more. :)

This is the sequel I'd rather see, since I enjoyed parts 2 and 3 more than the original.
Take care and God bless.

I think Part 2 was the best in the series.

LOL, this thread is hilarious. I love the first 3 pages, "RTSC will never come out."
Don't get me wrong, between 2005-2007 I thought that as well. I personally dug the hell out of Return. And I'll most likely see Berserk, if it comes out... but this whole 'Angela dies' thing I've been hearing... it does not sit too well with me.

Dude, it sat on the shelf for like 10 years. It was a movie nobody asked for and nobody wanted. It was only right to think it would never see the light of day. Frankly, I'm STILL shocked to this day it even got a release.

I believe that she comes back as a Freddy Krueger/ Mary Lou Maloney style ghost killer.

Oh yeah, I'm in that boat as well (except for the 'movie nobody wanted' thing.) I about blew a load when I first heard of it, and was very anxious for news about it at one point, which eventually stopped.... but now that it's out and I've got it (I bought a used copy. I waited a year, it cost me 8 bucks... no way was I paying 25 bucks for a just above bare bones, commentary-less DVD, SC or not) I have to say I throughly enjoyed it, and I really do not understand many of the hateful reviews it's gotten, other than people upset over the gigantic delay. The fat kid was beyond annoying and I about did a double take when I realized he was to be the 'victim', but other than that, very entertaining slasher that reminds me very much of the 1980's type, even down to the look of the film stock.

Well then, that sounds very much worthwhile then!!! If it's a Sleepaway flick, Angela HAS to be the killer, at least that's how I feel about it. I mean, I defend New Beginning and even applaud it for having a different maniac behind the mask, but that only happened 5 years into the franchise... Angela kicking the bucket, never to be seen again 20 + years down the line would suck severe ballage.
I'd also like to mention that I nearly had a heart attack a few months ago when I was scrolling through my channel guide, to find UNHAPPY CAMPERS playing on THIS! Network. I an finally say I saw the film on cable network TV. :D

Chiller used to have SC2 and 3 in their lineup. They seem to have disappeared as of late, though. Needed to make room for more crappy Sci-Fi-style movies, I guess.

I never had Chiller, sadly. I do remember when 2 and 3 were starting to play on the Cinemax channels, though.
Still, seeing SC2 on regular ol' TV.... it was fucking WEIRD. And it had all the gore.

I remember watching SC2 & SC3 a few times on Chiller when my cable provider briefly carried it.
I love the blurred "Fuck Angela Baker" graffiti in SC3.

Sucks Tally. THey actually play quite a bit of rarer 80's films, like ALIEN PREDATORS. THey had a GHOULIES marathon this Halloween.
