Anyone here a fan of Friday the 13th rip-off Bloody Murder and it's much more original sequel?
I've heard mixed opinions about these films. It seems as though people either love them or hate them. I personally am a sucker for slasher's even if they are blatant ripoffs like bloody murder to friday the 13th or offerings to halloween. I really wanna check this one out as well as memorial day.

I think taking them at face value is what you have to do. They are both low budget with everything that comes with a LBP. However, the directing is good as well as the photography and they are just fun.

I actually love the Bloody Murder films. Yeah, they are really shitty, but I enjoy them alot. They achieved that 80's feel on a miniscule budget WAY better than the big companies shooting slashers for millions.
BM 2 is my favorite. BM would be my 2nd choice. The Graveyard was decent, but it didn't really feel like it was connected with the previous 2, in a way.

Even though they were F13th ripoffs, how many movies since the 80's slashers actually took place IN a summer camp? Not many, BM and Camp Daze/Slaughter are about the only ones. BM movies had everything the F13th movies had.
The kills were usually done pretty good as well.

I agree. The kills in BM 2 were pretty brutal. I forgot his name, but I like the part when the guy gets both of his legs chainsawed off
I haven't watched these movies in a couple years, but I have and like them both. They are even more fun if you watch them as Friday the 13th fan films. I think the sequel even has a joke mentioning Jason.
It's too bad these movies were about 20 years too late, because if they came out in the 80's they would have been cult classics for sure, especially the second one.

I think they are at least cult-esque movies. It's funny how many 80's slasher purists live these movies (as I do). They have everything the F13 clones we lave have and then some.
I heard somewhere that Trevor's mask is paper mache in the movie. Is this true?
In which one? I don't think it was in the first one. He had a hockey mask. The second one could have been, but it did not look like it.

Well, thing is Trevor was never the killer in these movies (well except for the twist endings). The first movie it waqs a hockey mask, second was a pullover halloween mask. the paper mache mask maybe was i reference to a F13th ripoff called Memorial Day where the mask was a hockey mask with paper mache over it.

I can't find Memorial Day anywhere. :( Is it worth checking out?
I'm an 80's slasher purist as well. :)

Memorial Day is from 99 ad ive seen mostly bad reviews.Thats why i stick to the 70s-80s classics except maybe left for dead and hatchet coming out.

You see..I absolutley adore (as well as obsess over) Danielle Harris, but, as much as it pains me to say, I think that Left For Dead is going to be a huge diappointment. And trust me...I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Danielle Harris!!

Really?Maybe ill just stick with Hatchet?
Well, usually (not always) when there is difficulty getting distribution it either means that the movie sucks or the makers a prick. I really hope that Left For Dead is good.

Memorial Day isn't bad, and I heard it was made for insanely low budget. But, at the same time the acting from some of the people is just flat out unacceptable and the ones who are the bad actors are the most annoying. I really hate when people OVER act and it is just annoying.
The movie had some inventive kills, and a couple really well done ones. The story is a straight ripoff- someone's mentally retarded (I hope I can use that word in this context) little brother was taken on the lake by drunk friends and he accidentally drowns on Memorial Day. Five years later they all go back and start dying. But the way the movie was carried out was pretty unique. It was mostly set at a camp, and some scenes inside a camp.
However, it was a step down from Bloody Murder in both product and production. 5/10 at best, and I think it's worth checking out.
Is there any word on if there's gonna be a third Bloody Murder film?? I heard rumblings before, but I think it was all just rumor.

There were rumors, but it turned out to be The Graveyard, which takes place at Camp Placid Pines and a nearby cemetery. Other than that, who knows? There really should be. If there have been 3 Camp Blood movies I see no reason why there cant be 3 Bloody Murders haha.

Anyone actually sit through the credits of MEMORIAL DAY? There's a nice little surprise in store if you do!
Glad I own the only ACTIVE BM site on the Net!

I am sure there will be sooner or later. If Hemisphere Entertainment has any pull there will be one. But, who knows?

Yeah I agree, especially with the following it's gained and the fact that the sales are so big for this kind of movie.

Isn't The Graveyard considered the 3rd in the series? If i'm not mistaken, it was originally titled Bloody Murder 3: The Graveyard......but they dropped the BM moniker. :(
I'd definitely like to see another installment. I enjoyed all 3 of them......2 being my favorite.

At first it was being called BM3, but other than Placid Pines it has no other tie in to the series and pretty much is a spin-off if even that.

Oh, okay. I was wondering that when I watched it. It had Camp Placid Pines, but didn't have ANYTHING to do with the other ones.
The first Bloody Murder was good. The second one was better. I like how Trevor Moorehouse is told as a campfire story the same way Jason is. Come to think of it, these movies are a blatant rip off of Friday the 13th, but I love that aspect of them.

Sorry to bring up a long dead thread but now Artisan is owned by Lionsgate and Mainline Releasing is owned by the company that owns Playboy - who owns the rights?
I ask because I wanna see how much they'd be willing to sell them for so I could look into making Bloody Murder 3.
BTW: look out for my movie SPARROW at the end of the year (editing now, directed by Shaun Troke)
