I plan on buying it.
I hope they will do a good job and integrate all of those missing scenes into the movie.

There's not going to be a new cut that integrates anything back in; just the deleted/alternate scenes. Wasn't impressed with what I saw in theaters, so it's an easy pass for me.
I'll get it. Wasn't crazy about it, but I'm a completist.

I've never seen it so I'm not sure if I'll buy it. Maybe rent it or something first.

I wish they would release a special edition, put a second bonus disc with lots of extras like they did with the TCM remake; however, it seems so far that they're not putting much effort into this release. (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91b9OcUDxOL._AA1500_.jpg) It seems that we will not be getting anything besides the predictable "see how creators resurrected Freddy Krueger" documentary.
I wish I could watch the original version of the movie that did not appeal to viewers during those screening sessions -- see the original work completely intact.
Did they release a Special Edition of Friday the 13th 2009 by any chance? I am quite disappointed with the Friday DVD that is currently under my possession (Killer edition or something around those lines).

The F13 DVD/Blu-ray they released last year in June is the only one.
Wow, I just checked out that image you linked to; looks like the deleted/alternate scenes are going to be Blu-ray only. And holy Christ, that picture of Freddy is laughable.
I liked the flick, but was never really a fan of the series so I doubt I'll buy this.

I enjoyed it, but I think that has little to do with it.
Sadly, it takes only moderate enjoyment to warrant me definitely buying a film, and sometimes not even that.

I used to be that way with the movies, but not anymore.
I'm definitely going to rent this flick; I don't really buy movies anymore. Too expensive. :(
...Actually, I hardly re-watch many flicks these days.
I watch a movie, I'm good for another 10-15 years before I see it again.
By then I could just check it out of the library.
I'm in no way a completeist with anything.
As much as I love Friday the 13th and Halloween, there's no way I would spend money on a film in the series i think is crap and would never watch anyway just to say I have it. I never understood the point.
If I'm going to spend money on anything related to any of the horror series I love, then i'd rather save the money for the ones i appreciate most.

I haven't seen it yet, either, so I plan to buy it. Whether it's first day or not, I don't know. Probably would be best to try to get this one in the $20 range.
Rent it and if you like it buy it used from the video store a month later.
You can get some pretty good deals that way and financially you come out on top.

I bought 3 versions of NOES 1.
I bought the entire series on vhs.
I re-bought the entire series on dvd.
I bought Freddy vs. Jason.
But I WON'T be buying this crap. This is the first time I have zero interest in adding a Nightmare movie to my collection. Maybe if I'm feeling masochistic, I'll rent it and give it one more watch, but I really don't see a purchase anywhere in my future. Ever.

Rent it and if you like it buy it used from the video store a month later.
You still have video rental places in your area? Color yourself lucky, mang. Every single rental place within 50 miles has shut -- all the Blockbusters, Movie Galleries, the mom n pop shops. The only place left that does rentals is Hastings, and I can't get an account there due to an outstanding rental that I forgot to return almost 10 years ago.
So yeah, looks like I'll be buying it outright. Unless I end up getting Netflix. $9 a month with unlimited streaming and rentals they'll ship to you? Fucking win. Got a friend who just got the service, I've got like 12 classic Doctor Who stories queued up for streaming, as well as every season of Special Victims Unit, some horror flicks I haven't seen, and other TV shows I want to watch. I think $9 a month on Netflix would save me hella money on purchasing DVDs.
I knew rental places were losing money but damn.
In your case netflix sounds like the way to go.
I've decided that I'm not going to buy this piece of shit. My earlier response of me being a completist is a real cop out. Why waste15 bucks on a movie that's not worth the disc it's on?

They will probably release an "extended cut" on DVD like they did with F13.
I didn't want to wait, so I got the theatrical version today... a LOT of footage was removed from it.
The documentary on the DVD shows the missing footage.

What a piece of shit. Healeyz performance was downright cruddy. It probably was the way the music video guy directed him ala Kirzinger in F vs. J, but man, it's pretty bad.
The movie was predictable - and what the fuck... they REMADE FREDDY VS. JASON?! The fuck?!
Westin

. they REMADE FREDDY VS. JASON?!
Actually, they alluded to several sequels of the franchise (e.g. "how is this for a wet dream"). They should have avoided the use of lines from the former series and have created their own lines. I think that, to some extent, they were so concerned about dealing with a character like Freddy Krueger that they decided to allude to Englund's previous performances as an attempt of preserving the character's old traits.
When I watch NOES 2010, I think of several allusions to which the filmmakers made:
1. Freddy's Nightmares -- the opening sequence (newspaper clippings, etc);
2. NOES 3 -- Nancy Holbrook is an "artsy" girl in much the same way that Kristen Parker is; she draws what she sees in her dreams;
3. NOES 4 -- The structure of NOES 2010 is that of NOES 4: Kristen Parker is "supposedly" the heroine of the movie, to such an extent that her story obfuscates Alice's story, and Alice's story does not begin until Kristen's story ends. Narrative-wise, the structure of NOES 4 is the same of the 2010 version of NOES;
4. NOES 6 -- The scene in which grown-up Nancy appears wearing that white dress is reminiscent of that of Maggie.
In sum, a large part of the substance of NOES 2010 is based on the use of successful elements that have worked well in the former series, such as: (a) the recreation of classic scenes of the original; (b) the way of conveying the narrative; (c) the lines used in the former franchise. For these reasons, I interpret NOES 2010 more as a homage to the former series than as an actual 'reboot.'
The Dream Master

I'd prefer to just say it's a lazy rip-off rather than a homage. A homage actually needs to show some love, care, and craft towards the material. This showed none of that.

Actually, they alluded to several sequels of the franchise (e.g. "how is this for a wet dream").
Yes, but they stole LIBERALLY from FvsJ.
1. Freddy's Nightmares -- the opening sequence (newspaper clippings, etc);
"Freddy's Nightmares" is not a part of the formal series. The Freddy Krueger in that series is not the same character as the one from the films. They have two completely different backstories.
3. NOES 4 -- The structure of NOES 2010 is that of NOES 4: Kristen Parker is "supposedly" the heroine of the movie, to such an extent that her story obfuscates Alice's story, and Alice's story does not begin until Kristen's story ends. Narrative-wise, the structure of NOES 4 is the same of the 2010 version of NOES;
Actually, it was aping the original film (which of course, was aping "Psycho") in which we think Tina is the heroine of the story, but she's killed off and Nancy comes to the forefront. Nightmare 4, of course, called back to that.
4. NOES 6 -- The scene in which grown-up Nancy appears wearing that white dress is reminiscent of that of Maggie.
I think you're seeing something that's not there. I seriously doubt anybody that made this even saw "Freddy's Dead". All that dress stuff was was beating the audience over the head with the pedophilia angle.
For these reasons, I interpret NOES 2010 more as a homage to the former series than as an actual 'reboot.'
Homages tend to be made by people who loved whatever it was they're "homaging". This was made by people that by and large had nothing but contempt for the older Nightmares.

I was gonna buy it when it hit the bargain buns, as I'm a completist. I will probably never watch it again... but I still need to own it.
However, I'll be getting it on release day now. A local shop is running an offer where you can get the blu-ray boxset of the original and the remake for 50p more than the cost of the original on its own.
Since I don't own the original on blu yet, I'm going with that.

Due to my "one movie per month" rule, I bought the remake right when it came out; I will buy that infini-film (sp?) edition next month.
Because I own the entire NOES series on VHS and DVD, I kind of hesitated in buying the special edition of the original, but the remake made me fall madly in love with the original again.
It is interesting... I sometimes fall out of love with movies that I have seen several times, but then, for whatever reasons, something happens (...a song; a scent from the past...) and I fall in love with them again.

The reason is especially simple-- the remake was THAT bad.
These films come out and make the poorest older ones look so much better. Cause the same shit happened to me! When Zombieween came out, "Halloween 5" rocketed up from last place on my Halloween list (ignoring III) to edging out 8 and H20. Why? I realized, "Hey, at least it's got Donald Pleasence as Dr. Loomis, not some putz that had to walk away from Not-Myers cause he couldn't handle him."
Also, sometimes you need the bad taste washed out of your mouth. I saw Nightmare 1 SO many times in late April.

I've seen it three times.
I saw it in January as a preview print. I saw it in theaters, although paid for "Date Night". And I saw it again when I re-edited it into a feature version of "Freddy's Nightmares."
Yes, until a couple of Tuesdays ago, I was the only one of you who actually had a copy of the movie.

I know the feeling. I actually think I've watched "Hellraiser: Hellworld" more times than any sane fan should. And that at least had Doug Bradley!
The new SFX reviewed the NOES remake and generously gave it 2 stars, mainly for the performance by Not-Freddy in what they called an otherwise souless, unimaginative and dull film.

Not much else can be said, but I disliked the remake because it was nothing but a cheap cash grab. When you look at all of the thought and creativity that went into the original, the 2010 flick just doesn't measure up. I mean Wes Craven and Co. had a reason for everything Freddy did, they even had a reason for him wearing a red and green sweater.
The remake didn't even have a reason for him wearing the glove. Oh and the fact that he went from Rainmanesque kiddy diddler in the real world to a wise cracking killer in the dream world.

I could've accepted the whole "mentally challenged" aspect of real world Freddy if it was an act he put on to make the adults think he was harmless when he was really manipulating and hurting the children behind closed doors.
Part of me wonders why the film makers didn't attempt something similar. It could have been kind of clever if done properly. Oh right, cash grab...

I told everyone in my family how bad this movie was, but all that did was make them want to see it even more. We're gluttons for punishment, it seems. So I rented the movie and the first thing I did was check to see what kind of special features are on it.
NONE.
Is this just a case of the rental copies having no special features? Just seems odd. I've rented plenty of movies that all had their special features intact.

All DVD copies of NOES 2010 just contain the documentary. The blu-ray copies don't bring anything special to the table with the exception of a few alternate scenes.
I am hoping that they will release an extended cut at some point because a lot of footage was removed from the theatrical version.
