This is perhaps the most outrageous thread title we've come up with yet for comics.

Anyway, I'm steadily plowing through the last two weeks worth of books since I didn't pick up last week's shit until yesterday.

No Annihilation reference in the title anymore? Shame.

Anyway, a Man with No Name comic series by Gage, AWESOME.:D

So, today we've learned on Newsarama that there will be a Countdown tie-in, called "Countdown Presents The Search For Ray Palmer: Crime Syndicate Of America." Donna Troy and Jason Todd arrive on Earth-3 where they encounter the Crime Syndicate and meet the Jokester. That's right, an insane good version of the Joker. The rule of Earth-3 is that the heroes are the villians and the villians are the heroes, but evil always wins. Also, from what McKeever said about Jokester, it seems that this is Duela Dent's father. Since the Jokester will give us the answer to a big DCU riddle. It's by Sean McKeever and Jamal Igle.

The issue is a one-shot, but is not required reading for Countdown. The basics will be told in Countdown, but the one-shot will expand on everything. Also, McKeever revealed that unlike the 52 crew, the Countdown team is much farther ahead right now, in terms of completed scripts.

We also have another look at the upcoming relaunch of Batman & The Outsiders.

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g92/darth-sinister/Avatars/Avatars-2/Avatars-3/Avatars-4/BMOUT-Cv1_solicit.jpg

Tony Bedard has been listed as writer, with an artist to be determined. He's revealed that there might be more members than has been shown so far. He's also revealed that [spoiler]the reason for this team is that Batman finds that a group of heroes who are considered outlaws, like the X-Men, are better suited to go where the JLA or the JSA will. Batman will be on both teams as he admits that both serve a purpose and his role is important to both.

So Batman's turned into Wolverine then? Wink

Just got through reading the Planet Hulk saga. It didn't move me as much as the guy's in the store said it would. Granted, its the best its been since Peter David left but it jus read like an amped up Gladiator sequel set in outer space with the Hulk as Maximus. I will collect WWH as well and read it once its over as well. My thing is that this can't have a good ending for the Hulk.. I mean if he wins... He takes over the planet (or U.S), but what happens if he loses... They can't ship him off to space again. This could be interesting to say the least.

So how come no one is talking about the bad-ass group assembled in the Sinestro Corps? You've got The Anti-Monitor, Superboy Prime, Parallax, Hank Henshaw, and of course, Sinestro himself. I can't wait to see where that's headed.

Yeah, "Sinestro Corps War" is off to a good start. And Geoff Johns promises that this will be unlike what you'd expect from a GL story. BTW, Ron Marz will write the Parallax one shot, showing us Kyle's point of view while he is Parallax.

Don't worry, the one-shot issue "Sinestro Corps War" is going back for a second printing.

I think the Sinestro Corps one-shot is probably the best thing I've read all year. It's fantastic.

I'm really digging the astonishing Wolfman by Robert Kirkman at the moment... his wirting is back to its best after the shit that is ant-man.

I picked up Batman Confidential 7 for the Joker origin story and enjoyed it so much it's now on my pull list.

I'll take a look at Sinestro Corps next time I'm in town.

I'm still in the middle of Civil War, then I got Planet Hulk to sift through.... so i'm a little behind

The first six issues of Batman Confidential were horrid, and I was going to drop the book until they revealed the current Joker arc. I haven't gotten around to reading #7 yet, but I probably will tonight.

Two new Sinestro one-shots will be hitting this October. One about The Anti-Monitor and one about the Cyborg Superman.

Also, the JSA gets a new member....Superman from Earth-22.

Does anybody here read Fables.
It is one of my favorite titles I have got to have it.
(I like Jack of Fables also.)
It seems like this board is pretty Pro-DC comics.
Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special was one of the best issues I've read in the past year.

It's not that I don't like Marvel. I do. "World War Hulk" is the only thing that's really exciting me at the moment and that's because Greg Pak's work is much better than Bruce Jones. I'm indiffernet to "Civil War". And I'm waiting to see what will happen with Spider-Man, since "One More Day" is supposed to resolve the long running debate about Peter and MJ's marriage. If they stay together, I've got no complaints. If Marvel opts to end it, I will be sorely pissed.

Alex DeLarge

One More Day will end with MJ being revealed as a Skrull. I am 75% sure of this. Quesada and Bendis have all but confirmed Skrulls will take care of all of their problems with Marvel, ala Superboy's Punch. And we KNOW Quesada's feelings on the marriage...

Personally, right now, Marvel's my favorite of the two. Sure, they may doing some crappy things but at least 90% of their new ideas are looking forward. From the SHRA Act to Spider-Man unmasking to M-Day, they're all (semi)-new ideas leading the Marvel universe in a new direction. DC is pretty much the Silver Age: Act 2. Though I enjoy titles from both and despise titles from both.

I'd be sorely disappointed if they used the Skrull angle.

I'll be pissed if they use this skrull thing as a re-do, cop out deal.

October's World War Hulk #5 (of 5)
http://www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/Oct07/WWHULKcvr5col.jpg
This is a fight I've wanted to see for awhile.
Can anybody stop the Hulk?

Regarding DC,
Will they be rebooting a lot of the titles after Final Crisis?
I still haven't gotten used to some of the changes from OYL.

The Dream Master

What the fuck, DC? Three years between Crises? That's nuts. It better not be another earth-shattering event, as I'm just now getting used to the post-Infinite Crisis DC Universe.

Darth Sinister

I'm thinking that it'll be the introduction of the Megaverse that was talked about in "52".

This is just too much.

Uh oh! I can see it now:
Another JLA/AVENGERS - crossover, ending with the Scarlet Witch

saying:
NO.....

MORE................

CRISIS!!!!!

Which in turn starts another countdown to an anti-crisis or something.

I just had to put that out there.

Did anyone else get All Flash #1?
recap,
After hearing of Bart's death, Wally races to Los Angeles searching for those responsible. The Rogues turn on Inertia, who runs away, only to be caught by Wally. Inertia expresses no remorse for Bart's death, and mockingly says that he died "screaming like a little bitch," this angers Wally even further. Despite wanting to kill Inertia, Wally knows that he is not a killer. In order to keep him from hurting others again and to satisfy his desire for justice, Wally steals Inertia speed, basically leaving him a living statue in The Flash Museum, placed near Bart's statues as Impulse and Kid Flash, which Inertia will have to look at for eternity.

At the end of the issue Wally asks Iris if she has any memories of what the future holds for his family. She says "not really", but the last page shows her memory of Wally and the twins as superheroes and Linda looks like she is coordinating them from a computer (kind of like the Oracle does for Batman).

So, it looks like the Flash is going to be a about the adventures of the West Family. I'm excited to see what Waid does with this title.

I've got All Flash just sitting there on my pile from this week. The problem is, I'm still not completely caught up with last week's stuff.

Is anyone reading The Fall of Cthulhu (http://www.tfaw.com/Graphic-Novels/Profile/Fall-Of-Cthulhu-Vol-1-The-Fugue-TPB___270904)? I've been enjoying it quite a bit. It kind of has the feel of an Alan Moore Swamp Thing comic, especially the dreamland sequences.

I kind of wish we could have split the comic thread into three threads: one for DC, one for Marvel and one for "other." The comic thread in the other forum tended to be heavily slanted to DC titles, and it was a pain scrolling through it to find Marvel stuff. Oh, well. Just an idea.

If someone wants to create individual threads for the comic companies and keep this one for general comics discussion that's absolutely fine by me.
