I talked about this in the Girls/Dating Advice thread. Last night (Monday) was the first episode of the show. It features a "pick up guru" named Mystery teaching 8 socially challenged guys to attract/interact with women.
I already wrote in the other thread that I think Mystery looks ridiculous. And even though he may be able to pick up women, he still appears like a huge nerd. Only dressed as a pimp.
I also think it's sad that some guys actually pay people like Mystery thousands of $$$ just to learn social graces that can be picked up on your own.
Another thing I don't like is Mysterty & Co. try to convey the message that if you "master" their techniques, no woman will be able to resist you. Even though I have limited experience in this area compared to many, I know that's totally bullshit. Regardless of who you are and what you look like, everyone gets shot down at some points. Even if you have the "greatest" game in the world.
I'm also left wondering exactly what type of women Mystery actually pulls in. As I said he still acts/looks like a huge dweeb to me despite his success/image. And anyone who has to give themselves a nickname like "Mystery" in order to feel like Casanova just reaks of insecurity.
Did anyone else catch the show?

I watched it. Once the "Players" went into the club after the guys all struck out I honestly thought some of it had to be fake. Some looked real like Mystery talking to the drunk brunette. I couldn't believe the women found the blonde wingman attractive. Honestly thought he was gay. Funny that the one guy who they kept saying people thought was gay wanted the same hair as him.

It wasn't staged, I know that much. I've actually read up on "Mystery". He's featured as the main character in Neil Strauss' "The Game", it's a book Strauss wrote about his experiences within the "Pick Up" community. Anyway, Mystery's real name is Erik and was a huge D&D nerd in high school and extremely awkward. Anyway, along with several other "Pick Up Artists" he developed a system for breaking down a woman's attraction and making her want you.
Basically, it's a series of rehearsed lines that get her interest, keep it and finally make you seem attractive to her and close w/ a phone number, kiss or taking her home. From what I've seen/read it actually does work, but mostly on drunken bar chicks.
What I can't stand is how Myustery and the other PUAs portray it as working on every female. Which is complete BS. I don't care who you are or how good your "game" is, no one is 100% successful at anything.
You should loook up Mystery's Conan O'Brien appearance on YouTube. By the end of the interview, Conan is making fun of Mystery.

Just watched Mystery on Conan. Good stuff. Cracked up when Conan put the goggles on which Mystery wore in the club on the first episode.

You should also check out Neil Strauss' appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. It was a huge contrast to Mystery's Conan appearance.
In Neil's book "The Game", Neil wrote that after a while, he leanred the best game is having no game. ie: being comfortable with yourself and just acting natural.
He even demonstrates it, as Jessica Alba was Jimmy's first guest and she continually cuts Jimmy off just to talk to Neil.

Like I said in the other thread I agree with the point he may do very well picking up the how can I put this "the good time girl" but the lines and "tricks" won't work on the girls who want more then a 1 night deal.
Only other girls I can see it working on is the ones who have just been dumped/broken up with their boyfriend/husband and are depressed lonely and on the rebound and that moment in time anyone who's kind enough to listen or given them a sholder to cry on (or at least act like they care) they will go off with but then regret it straight after
I should of worded that better but I hope you know what I meant

Man, I can't believe Spoon quit like that, I was rooting for him the most out of all of them.
And while I understand how these canned lines can work at breaking the ice, wouldn't it just be better to go up to someone, make eye contact, act friendly and say "Hi"?
Also, I'm sick of the contestants feeling sorry for themselves because they're still virgins. Why don't they understand that being a virgin isn't the reason why they're "losers". They're "losers" because they say they are.
Yeesh, they act like like virginity is some disability or disease that is keeping you from attaining something better.

There is nothing wrong with been a virgin I don't care about the fact I am.
But I would never go on a TV show about as it just makes you look sad and desperate
Seriously if they are that desperate to lose it they should just pay a hooker as it looks like they don't care about waiting for someone they love just someone anyone who will say yes

DV, that very same thought has crossed my mind several times.
If it's such a big deal, why not just get it over with? It still won't make them any "cooler" though.

I watched the first episode and saw the end of the 2nd episode. Its interesting to see Mystery and his wingmen 'tactics' on the ladies. In a way this is a good show for those guys because they do in fact need the help. Well, most of us are comfortable with ourselves these guys just aren't and its cool to see them develop as each episode passes
