This is a thread for me and Sikbert to compare penises (re: sports cards) and anyone else that'll probably out do us easily. Heh.

In all seriousness, I've been collecting Baseball cards since I was 6 years old. I didn't have a serious interest at the time. I would get Topps (this was in 87 and yet I never pulled a Bonds rook - heh) only when the toy store/gas station did not have any Garbage Pail Kids. Topps was pretty dominant at the time in my region. When I joined little league in 1991 and 1992 I got serious about card collecting, but being without job I relied only on my dad's occasional 'opening up the wallet.'

As I became less into baseball and more into football, my collecting habits have reflected this. I buy football now at a 3:1 ratio now. In all I'd say I have around 20,000 baseball cards collected from 1987-present and around 9,000 football cards collected from 2001-present.

As far as my best cards in my collection, I'm not going to mention redemptions because I don't have any 1/1s and all the other ones I have fluctuate so much anyway it doesn't really matter.

My best card that I sought out on Ebay was a Marino rookie. My best pull has been a Mike Vick 2001 Topps Heritage refractor which probably will take a hit.

My favorite card, of moderate value, would be my Billy Ripken card. You know the one if you're a collector ;-)

What's your story? Favorite sets? Etc....

Best Card I ever had was a Wayne Gretzky jersey/auto patch card number 98/99 and I sold that fucker for 1200 bucks. I just dumped a Crosby rookie (from a crappy cheap set) for 200 bucks. I had a couple of good football and basketball cards I sold as well. Elway 2nd year and a Jordan 2nd year.

I never did get into collecting sports cards. I had a few, mostly football, because I was never into baseball at all. The only one I've kept until now is an autographed Emmett Smith ProBowl card, circa 1992 or so. I went to his football camp and got it signed. I have no idea if it's worth anything or not, other than my sentimental value.

I used to have a Bart Simpson card that was a parody of Bo Jackson. It had Bart with football pads on, holding a baseball bat behind his head, and it said "Bart Knows." I don't know what happened to it...it was actually kind of cool.

The problem with adding 'value' to a card that you had autographed yourself is verification to other collectors. It's a certified auto via a distributor, it's no problem as far as 'market value' goes.

I have a bunch of cards, footballs, and jerseys that I've had autographed in my meetings with pro athletes and honestly they are for my own personal pleasure. I'll probably not sell them. It's just to remind me of the day I met them.

For the record - nicest football player I ever met was Joe Horn. Most of the other guys were signing stuff and letting you take pictures, but you had to squat down or something. Joe had an empty chair for the fans. I sat down and he gave me a big hug and put his arm around me and flashed his little hand gesture.

He also signed a personal autograph for a friend (incidentally the friend that I made a thread about last month, that passed away). I'll never forget that day.

Also Ashley Ambrose, retired cornerback was a super guy as well. He didn't have a chair, but he hopped up and stood with me for the photo opportunity.

I used to collect baseball, basketball and football cards growing up but I haven't bought a card in a long time. But the ones I do have are packed away in my closet

My favorites though I can't remember the exact year or card brand of them:

- Jerry Rice rookie card
- Shaq rookie card
- Reggie Miller rookie card
- Barry Bonds second year card (if only I started collecting a year ahead of time I would have had his rookie!)
- Webster Slaughter signed card (I met him at my elementary school)
- 80 Manny Ramirez rookie cards (No typo I have 80 of his rookie cards counting doubles and all the different brands. Being a Clevelander Manny was and still is one of my favorite baseball players)

I'll post more I can think of later.

When that Ripken card was recognised my father bought me 3 wax boxes and I pulled it out of the first 5 packs. Back then it was worth much more than it is now though. There was a guy on eBay selling a lot of 10 for 50 bucks.

But, before I sold my collection the ones that were most valuable were my 89 UD Ken Griffey Jr, 1985 Topps Mark Mcgwire (not worth shit anymore), 83? Don Mattingly Rookie (not worth much), 1990 Leaf Frank Thomas FLC, and 1995 Brien Taylor rookie (not worth shit, he flopped).

Sad thing about autographed cards, most of the time they don't add value. Most baseball cards aren't worth shit until they are graded anyways.

If you have a 50 dollar card ungraded it's rare that it will be sold for 20. However, a 50 cent card graded Gem Mint 10 is worth what 50 bucks?

Uncle Hoody
08-08-2007, 12:24 AM
I don't even know why some cards get graded period. It doesn't add value too much to common cards. Plus try finding market advice on Joe Blow PSA 10 card from 1993 Upper Deck. This realization has made me stop participating in auctions and retail purchasing promising 'one guaranteed psa 9 or better!" It's never anything worth a hoot anyway. Which, duh, you probably only drop 20 bucks anyway.

I need to get my Marino rookie graded. It is absolutely beautiful. I have a Clemens 85 Topps graded 9. I have a Baines Fleer 81 PSA 9 or 10 I forget off hand.

Stupidest purchase I ever made graded wise was paying 25 bucks for a psa 10 Mark McGwire Chong Modesto Athletics card.

Thanks for the thread Greg, I'll post about my Ripken collection with scans soon.

Well, the reason for grading is that Gem Mint 10 cards are super rare. Which makes a 5 sent card worth something. However you have to pay to have it graded and then it may not be a GM10.

I had a GM10 Paul O'Neill RC and a lot of 5 Kirk Gibson 1980 Topps RC, but other than those I never saw another GM10.

My brother's got boxes and boxes of them in his old closet. There's probably some that are worth a small fortune. They're all in mint condidtion too.

I had every rookie card from the first year the Edmonton Oilers came onto the scene, sold the whole lot when I was a teen for porn. Fuck sakes!

Now I collect hockey cards from the 80s/90s for my kids and nephews. They're pretty young, so once they're older and can appreciate them, they'll get them. I have five albums on the go, one for each little whipper snapper.

The cards I collect for me are ones I'll get autographed for personal use, not for resale. When I die, the kids'll get 'em.

I pulled a Jordan Staal Rookie and a Dion Phanuff (I know I spelled that wrong he is #3 for Calgary Flames) rookie two days ago. I bought 6 packs of different cards and got those two. They aren't bad at all.

Picked up a couple of Edmonton Eskimo autographed cards from a flea market today. Ricky Ray was one of them. :D

I met a few cleveland indians from the '95-97 team. Meeting Sandy Alomar was probably the most memorable, though; it was in '97 when he came to the local mall to sign autos for fans at the food court; you'd basically stand in line, and when you got so close, you'd hand the item you wanted autographed to someone a few feet away, and he would hand it to sandy a little later to auto.

I handed the guy my fitted chief wahoo cap, and waited in line til i got up to sandy to get my cap. and NO ONE was talking to him when they got up there! they'd just take whatever they wanted autographed and leave, so he basically had his head down and was signing stuff and hardly looked up at all.

but when i got up there, he looked up to hand me my cap, and did a double take, then looked away and smiled, then he looks at me and says "man, you look just like Albie Lopez!" :D

Albie Lopez was a pitcher for Cleveland for a little while, but the D-backs took him in the expansion draft.

i never really payed attention to what the guy looked like before that, but he pitched like 2 days after i met Sandy, and i seen take off his cap when he went tot he dugout, and damn it, he DID look like me!!!

wish i had his money. . .

but as far as card go, i haven't really gotten anything new since my LeBron rookies;
picked up a $1.00 pack and pulled a $20 rookie.

I had a bunch of Manny rookies too, Killa, sent them to fenway when he got traded to see if he'd auto them for me, but never got any of them back, so i had to find replacements.

i think the rarest card i have is a william green rookie thats 1/5

I have a very pressing question.

How does everyone organize their cards? When I was younger, I kept them by sets but as my set grew and I never really collected a specific set, my collection got VERY disorganized. Then around high school, the girl I was seeing took all my stuff home with her, and organized it all by teams for me.

So thats pretty much been my method. The only thing is every now and then I run into trouble. Like what do I do with Houston Oilers? Do I put them in their own binder or do I put them with the Titans? Or maybe the Texans?
Same with the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals.

And what about REALLY old teams like say the New York Senators (baseball)?

And then what about undrafted rookie cards that never made teams? I currently just have a generic binder for rookie cards that I don't know the team that drafted them (if they got drafted). What about cards with different players on them? Checklists?

Heck the pharmacy has grab bag cards with a superstar on the front and back sandwiching a bunch of crap like "The greatest football players from the University of Washington!" What do I do with all of that?

And what do you do with your really valuable cards? I mostly keep anything above 4 bucks in a top loader seperate from my general collection of binders. But some jersey cards and the like are too thick for a top loader. What should I do then?

HELP!!!!

Oh how depressing this thread is for me and I mean that in no way to offend anyone but more on the thoguhts of what i used to have till my ex decided she should sell it all out from under me. I was mainly a football and basketball guy but did have some baseball and hockey along with some other non mainstream sprts and cards. I had two Joe Montana Rookies, ronnie lott, lawrence taylor, 3 walter paytons, jack ham, jerry rice, doug flutie usfl, steve young both usfl and topps, Dan Marino, phil simms, all the 89 score rookies including 5 barry sanders, and 3 troy aikmans and so on for football. Patrick Roy, brett hull and steve yzerman and some other ones along with the Gretzky and mario rookies I traded when I was younger for I think g.i. joe toys ro star wars. Basketball I had the magic bird dr. j rookie card, pippen, rodman, alot of the ones from 87 up to shaq. Baseball I had some Griffey jrs includung two upperdeck, clemens topps rookie that I traded for an autographed Darth Maul book, Canseco, henderson, mattingly, and so on up to A-rod and jeter. It used to be a hell of a collection but then as time got going around 96 I'd say i just got tied of trying to keep up with all the prices and grading but still would buy a pack now and then and still do but having it all sold just killed me. I have wanted to sell off what little I have left but seems like most people need it to be graded and so on these days to even bother. I must say though this hobby gave me alot of fun as there really was nothing better then opening a pack and seeing what you might get.

I usually organize them by sets, player (if I have a lot of one specific player), and the rest alphabetically or by team.

sCabbOy
01-22-2008, 01:43 PM
I used to organize by sets, and the valuable cards (back when I collected 50 cents was valuable) I's put those in hard plastic.

I say when I collected because when I started was 1986 and quit in 1994. The big cards when I was collecting was Bo Jackson's Donruss RC, Jose Canseco's Donruss Rookie, Rickey Henderson's Fleer and Topps RC, Tony Gwynn's RC, Don Mattingly's Donruss RC (which was as high as $110 in Beckett as far asI remember), and then cards like Ken Griffey Jr's Upperdeck RC, Frank Thomas 1990 leaf card, Eric Lindros score RC, and the Michael Jordan 1991 Upperdeck RC (Was priced by Beckett at $65) and then the Billy Ripken fuckface Fleer card.

I have a very small collection, but I have no idea what they're worth these days. They're mostly early 90's San Diego Chargers cards, but I have a few others.

Ok now this is just silly!

I'm browsing Ebay for some 1984 topps NFL cards to see if there's any packs or boxes available for sale.

I have come across the silliest thing in sports collecting since inflated prices....GRADED PACKS AND BOXES!

People are sending sealed packs and boxes to PSA and such and having them graded, w/o ever opening the product to see what is inside. This is so ridiculous to me! Now if someone ELSE buys it, they are faced with the dilemma to crack open a PSA casing! Geez!

cropsy
01-27-2008, 03:40 PM
It has all gone to hell IMO. When the grading thing came along I really think that hurt collecting. I think it was bad enough before with peoples opinions of what was mint and all before or gem mint, good to very good and so on but now when you get anything and everything graded it has become foolish. When you buy packs now the cards aren't really worth anythign unless you get them graded so why not just sell the packs graded already.

Uncle Hoody
01-30-2008, 05:30 PM
Cropsy, its to the point where I feel like one day they're going to start selling and valuing on the condition of the graded cards slab. "Get this PSA 10 of Brett Favre in a PSA 10 certified holder! The card and the case are PSA 10 inside another case that is also PSA 10!!!"

I really really want a John Elway rookie, and I feel like I'd have more fun buying a hobby box of 1984 Topps as opposed to just fighting for it on ebay. But after what I saw on ebay with the graded box, I'm not so sure I should even bother.

Also I'm still working on my 2006 Fleer football set. One hobby box, SEVERAL retail boxes, and numerous ebay trips later, I'm still 13 rookies short of finishing it. I have so many extras I started a 2nd set, which I have all of the veteran cards, but I'm still 50 something short in the rookies department so i ordered 2 more Hobby boxes that I should have by this weekend. I am going to have a buttload of extras, so if anyone wants to talk trades, let me know. My favorite individual players are Roethlisberger and any of the Saints pretty much.

Grading is a good/bad situation. It's nice to have a PSA GM10 card, believe me not many exist (not in the context of how many cards there are out there). Even pulling cards from a brand new pack may not yield a GM10. But, what's great about a GM10 card is that a 5 cent card is now worth 5 bucks (give or take).

I just spent the last three hours going through all of my valuable cards to narrow it down to ten for my first foray into sending things in for grading.

I'm sending in:

1970 Topps OJ Simpson Rookie
1984 Topps Dan Marino Rookie
1989 Fleer Billy Ripken F*ck Face card
1987 Fleer Barry Bonds Rookie Card
1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie Card
2001 Topps Heritage Jim Brown with piece of Cleveland Stadium
2001 Topps Heritage Michael Vick Rookie
1987 Topps Barry Bonds Rookie
1987 Topps Mark McGwire Rookie
2004 Sage Beckett Exclusive Ben Roethlisberger (I have 2 but having second thoughts about sending these in for grading due to inability to get accurate value info)
2002 Upper Deck Diamond Connection Bat Around Magglio Ordonez, Tim Salmon, Bobby Abreu, and Shawn Green quad Bat card (not even sure how I got it)

I'm gonna go with the 45 day service through Beckett. It's my first time so I'm still a bit nervous. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I still have a lot of other stuff that I plan to send in if this experience is satisfactory. We'll see.

I was at the PX for Fort Lewis the other day and they had a little shop set up with a guy selling sports cards. I wound up not buying anything, and coming back to the hotel and scoping some of the stuff he had for sale.

He had some sealed hobby boxes at twice retail value and some singles marked up in some cases 300%. I know as a private dealer you have to make a profit and clear overhead but geez. Thats the thing you need to remember when buying singles from a dealer. You need to know how to spot value, a cheat, and if need be you bring a beckett (or your guide of choice) with you. Ultimately a card is only worth what you will pay for it, but if you don't educate yourself, you could be hornswaggled.

This experience further illustrates my refusal to do business with 'card shops' anymore unless they have something I'm specifically looking for.

In 8th grade I had a gym teacher who's do that... he'd rip us the fuck off. I remember I bought a Bo Jackson rookie card (shows how old I am) when Bo was kicking ass for $25. The card was only worth $6 or so. He said it's going to continue to clib because Bo was a phenom. 2 years later Bo destroyed his hip...

Same thing happened with a Steve Decker rookie card. He was a catcher for the Giants... his rookie season he shot off with like 8 home runs leading the league. His Upperdeck rookie card was priceless. I bought it for $15 (it was worth 5) because it was expected to climb... Steve ended he season with 8 homeruns, and never had more than 5 after that.

When I sell my cards, I usually sell them at beckett value and then when you buy more I discount them (such as if you buy 100 dollars worth, I will knock off 20%). Only time I don't put prices on cards or jack them way up is I have a few 1/1 cards and several things like 2nd Year Gordie Howe and my most priceless item to me in my collection a 1/5 Gordie Howe game used jersey card.

During October I buddied up with a friend to take advantage of a BGS grading special. I submitted a fair amount of cards. I just checked his beckett account and the cards should be finished by December 3 and I should have them by that weekend. I'm excited! My first grading!

Well the grades are in. The only card I was really worried about, my Marino rookie, has me depressed now. It apparently is tampered!!!!! I used to brag so much about how this card was the most beautiful card I've ever owned.

They didn't grade it.

I remember pulling a Danny Wuerffell card and having it graded PSA9... that card isn't worth the plastic it's in anymore. UF Gators have produced some awesome runningbacks- Emmitt Smith, Nield Anderson, Errict Rhett... but man they have had a bust on QBs even though they kicked ass in college; Kerwin Bell, Kyle Morris, Shane Matthews, Wuerffell and probably even Tim Tebow.

Sorry about my rant lol

YES! I subscribed to Beckett's online price guide for football. 54 dollar annual fee. I freaking love it.

All I have to do is punch in a card, and boom value. It beats having to flip through thousands of pages of price guide and then using a freaking multiplier on parallel cards.

This is a great great investment.

Scans wouldn't do this justice, so I videoed it.

The top four are keepers. Jenkins plays for the Saints, Webb went to my University.

The rest I have listed for trade at a card collecting site and in a week are going on Ebay if no one offers me something for them.

Anyone besides me and Banana-Rama into getting cards graded? Might look at organizing a group submission for the July BGS special ($5/card @ 45 day service level minimum # of cards = 25).

Send me your stuff and a money order to cover your costs and return shipping and I'll submit them with mine and when they come back I'll mail them to you wrapped in bubble wrap in a flat rate box.

List them. I have the online price guide and it would just be a matter of me copying and pasting them into the search bar on that site.

Ahhhh none of the Faulks are worth getting graded if your looking at a value aspect.

I'd need more information on the Bettis (card # and subset info, there's a bunch that came up for that year and set).

The Upper Deck Brett Favre and the Nolan Ryan would be borderline worth it but once you factor in return shipping and insurance, you're pushing it.

At the end of the day though if you really like the cards and want to take permanent care of them, you can't beat a BGS case.

Well it's only $6/sport/month or $54/year/sport on their online price guide.

I got a set of "Then ,and Now" from upper deck, The only way to get those was get a redemption card in a pack mail it in.MIne is still in the celaphane .

I'm also waiting on some beckett grades that should be emailed to me sometime this afternoon. I'm anxious. It's only 5 cards but still.

2. 2009 National Treasures Drew Brees promotional Black Box authentic 1/1
3. 2007 National Treasures Autographed card 23/50
4. 2009 National Treasures Drew Brees Signature Patch auto 2/27
5. 1909-11 T206 Matty Mcintire tobacco card (baseball)

On the football cards I put minimum grade of 8.5 or to just authenticate them and seal them in a beckett holder. On the baseball card I gave a minimum grade of 4.
ADDED:
UGH! I gotta stop sending my cards in to where they're not done until a Friday. BGS ships fedex only, so if your cards are due on a Friday, you won't get them until Tuesday at the earliest because Fedex does not deliver on Sundays or Mondays (and I have these going to my office since someone is there 7 days a week). BAH! Anyway, here are the grades:

2009 Playoff National Treasures Century Material Prime Brand Logo Drew Brees/1 9.0

2009 Playoff National Treasures Century Material Prime Black Box Drew Brees/1 9.5

2007 Playoff National Treasures Signature Silver Drew Brees /50 8.5

2009 Playoff National Treasures Signature Patches NFL Drew Brees/27 8.5

1909-11 T206 Matty McIntyre Detroit Does Not Meet Minimum Grade (which means it'll be shipped in a holder with a blue label at top that says 'authentic')

Dude, no lie my sister pulled 3 copies of that card out of a walmart box in the 90s. I bought one from her at book value to give to my then girlfriend and got the other 2 graded. The other one is a 9. I don't have it scanned though.

I'm kinda funny about my small collection of basketball cards. They are all either for my girlfriend or my sister gave them to me after she left for the military. I'm kinda hoarding all of her old cards until she's out of the military and I know there's no chance of her going off to war again.

Yes, I'm that pathetic and sentimental. Screw you :)

STUPID SELLER ON EBAY!!!!!

Put little sticky notes on the penny sleeves he used on my cards (standard card shipping - card in penny sleeve, then in a top loader). The one card was an auto rookie card of one of my favorite players, and was in a position to where it was covering up a potential serial #. The sleeve he used had sticky stuff on it on the opening! The card would not come out!!!!!!!

I finally got it out, and bent the corner in the process. Card is ruined.

Oh man, this seller had a bunch of cards that I liked so in an attempt to get discounted combined shipping I bid on a bunch, only winning one, a BV $60 booklet dual auto/jersey card. I figured oh well I can just flip it in a trade for Saints cards on the usual sites.

I specified I wanted SAINTS AUTOS for it, not necessarily the top dogs (Brees, Bush) but current saints players equal to the BV of this card.

I get "Oh nice card, but I don't have Saints....check me anyway" (the sites allow you to upload what you're willing to trade. "Check me" means "click on my collection and see if you like anything") or "HEY I GOT SOME SAINTS STUFF TO SELL YOU!" and such.

Well one guy has been aggressively trying to get me to send him $100 for a card. I checked it in the price guide, it's worth $80, and on Ebay he'd be lucky to get $50. I'm not an idiot. I told him he over paid for the card if he paid $100 for it. He said he got it in a cash/card trade and that he'd combine it with some other cards for $130. Now I never said I wanted to buy his cards. I'm just trying to trade this one G.D. card. But he is messaging me DAILY about it until I told him Christmas broke me. So then he says he'll wait until after New Years. Dude, I am not looking for a freaking cash deal right now!

A week has gone by and he messages me, "Ok, I tell you what, I'll take the Booklet card and send you these 2 cards_______ &_________" I did some quick ebay research, using completed listings. The 2 cards he is wanting to send me for my $60 card both recently went on Ebay to the same buyer for a combined $13.75.

VV is supposed to be talking to a shop owner in his area since they're in the same market as the players on the card. If not I'm going to put it back on Ebay. I can make money off of it b/c I have better feedback than the guy I got it from anyway.

Only real drawback in selling is they hold the inventory for you. Works out great for a buyer b/c you can buy from 50 sellers and pay one shipping fee.

Damn... how can people possibly make money on cards if they're already out $9.00 a pop on the grading alone?

Hood, Do you know approximately how much legit book value a Jeremy Lin rookie card is going for now? Some dill hole is selling them on ebay for $24,000. Which is crazy stupid. If someone actually pays the $24k then it's worth $24k. As far as the "book value" goes, I don't subscribe to the basketball one, so I do not know. However, card values are like the stock market and sometimes the "book" cannot keep up with actual values. Book value never matches sale value though it's usually in the other direction. If the "book" shows $80 BV you're lucky to sell it for $35. The only thing book value is good for anymore is trading, making sure you and the other party got equal in trade.

As far as Jeremy Lin goes, things will level off eventually.

Jeremy Lin cards with SOME BV (http://www.checkoutmycards.com/Cards/Basketball,=jeremy+lin)

Damn... how can people possibly make money on cards if they're already out $9.00 a pop on the grading alone? Wes if you think about it though, going hand in hand with Stoppa's question, if someone has a $24,000 value card, $9.00 to grade it is a drop in the bucket. A card that grades out a 9 or a 10 on PSA (or a 9.5-10 on BGS) will fetch exponentially more (in theory) than the same card ungraded. PLUS that $9.00 is a great investment for a high dollar card simply because the graded holders are great for protection.

I grade with BGS and as such their cases are well known in the industry (and in my own experience) as being top notch in card security. There is NO way to bust a card out of a BGS case and replace it with a damaged card. If someone does that, the case will be very obviously beat to hell and damaged. PSA cases can EASILY be cut open, card removed and replaced, then sealed back.

When my house flooded in 2009 I had a box of BGS graded cards on the floor. Not one of them cases got water in them. That $9.00 per card was worth it.

Now if you send in 100 cards at the 45 day service level, you only pay $7 per card. But then that's assuming you have 100 cards that are worth grading.

Oh and just FYI- just because a card does grade high does not automatically mean you'll get more for it every time. Junk is still junk whether it's a BGS 10 or ungraded.

On the flip side, the people that DO collect PSA have been known, not always but it has happened, to get into crazy stupid bidding wars on a PSA 10 junk card just because they're trying to build a set of cards all graded PSA 10 for whatever reason. I'm not sure who in the hell wants to invest the time in money in a full set of graded 1987 Topps baseball cards, but whatever.
ADDED:
Incidentally, the card Showstoppa mentioned went on Ebay for $21,580, is from National Treasures and is graded 9.5 by BGS.

First off, National Treasures is a very high end set and costs around $500 for a box of 7 cards most years. This card is #'d to 25, autographed, piece of jersey, and is a rookie card of a hot player. Even if he wasn't hot right now, the card ungraded would be worth in my estimation, $300. Add to the fact that there's almost NEVER a BGS 10 (they are just TOO strict) and it's a 9.5, AND he's a hot player, yes, I can see it getting bid up to that amount.

Also the card was graded on December 5, 2011. And only 2 of the 25 cards in circulation have been graded (The other one also graded out at 9.5).
ADDED:
Wait until he has a 1/1 go on the market.

Totally just made $150 selling five cards NOT worth anywhere near $30 a pop. Had them listed for $60 a piece knowing full well who would offer me on them, and I was right. I also knew the person would offer bare minimum 50% of asking price.

Either way, each card was book value less than $9 on top of costing me around 8-9 to grade. I came out well well ahead.

The person in about a week will have the cards listed on Ebay for double what I sold them for and start saying how they're the "rariest" cards ever and have this long b.s. story about how they're from the "rariest" set ever.

I have a few more listed. I might tinker with prices to see what I can phish out.
