Has anyone else here had a chance to play this game? I bought it the other day and I was instantly addicted. There is so much to do such has hunt gangs, play poker and five finger fillet, and many other things. This has to be one of the best western games I have ever played. Anyone else have an opinion on this one?

You can bet your ass the Horse Cock Express has shown up in the old west, much to the dismay of nerds everywhere.
Yeah, it's pretty fun. Haven't even touched the single player yet. It's a shitload of fun just running around in free roam killing nerds and dishing out appropriate spaghetti western titles as they meet their demise.

Several people on this board have bought this game, so hopefully we will get some more comments.
RDR is my favorite game I've played this year.
The missions are your standard GTA type stuff, but the other things you can do (hunting animals
and wanted criminals, poker and such), is what really makes the game fun.
I haven't tried the multi-player yet, I have been enjoying myself in the single player. I'll probably try some
multi-player this weekend, although, I wont see anybody from this board because everybody else
seems to have got it for the 360 and I'm a PS3 boy.
I just opened up the Blackwater Area.
I have "wasted" a fair amount of time hunting. I also rarely quick travel even
if I have to ride all the way across the map because I like the environments.
I was hoping the grizzly bears would be harder to kill.
We could post a ton of funny or awesome events that happen, so here is one of my favorite.
I was riding out in the middle of nowhere in Mexico looking for some plants and this guy called out to me.
So, I rode over near him his campsite and he called out "a man's gotta eat" and started shooting at me.
After I killed him I looked around his campsite and there was a lot of blood, a human arm, a severed human head,
a bunch of bones, and a guy hogtied. I let the man go and he got up and started thanking and praising me,
gave me a big hug and took of running into the brush. He made it about 20 feet and stepped on a snake
and it struck him and killed him. I started laughing my butt off, poor fella.
Well, I'm off to play some more.

My friend that works at Gamestop says this game is absolutely brilliant. I don't doubt it. The footage I've seen looks great. This will probably be the next game that the Gamestop buddy hooks me up with for editing his website videos, so I'll post more once I've played it.

Insanely addictive game. My second favorite game next to San Andreas.

I just started playing last night and WOW this game is way better than I was thinking and way more addicting than I was hoping lol. I just got UFC 2010 and now that's been put aside to play this game this week. I'll still play UFC here and there but I think this is going to be the main game I play and spend time on. It's my new Just Cause 2 "fix" lol. I haven't fully completed that either, only 2 Main Missions to go and like 10 or so Faction Missions and then the rest is just to get whatever remaining achievements.
However back to RDR! I think I've only done 4 maybe 5 story line missions and then I started to just wander around and I shot at a Hawk/bird and noticed that the feathers were worth something and it was part of the sharpshooting challenge that I just kept going and shooting animals and then there was a part where Coyotes were attacking or trying to attack a guy and I went and "saved" him and it gave me fame and honor points.
At first I was a little confused because I had zero money and was just doing stuff for Bonnie and there wasn't any info on how to do side missions or what not and then when I was doing the above is when things started to open up and saying how to check my journal and such. This is where it has gotten to be a blast and I had a hard time putting down the controller and turning it off but I had to leave right away for awhile.
Question though, do you (meaning the Character your playing as) HAVE to rest/sleep or can you just keep going all day/night and not worrying about losing health, slowing down, or anything like that?

Game doesn't work for me. I get stuck in loading screens constantly that don't ever load, John will get stuck in the ground and freeze while his horse starts teleporting around the screen on its own, the start menus disappear so the game only displays a red screen in the pause menu. It literally isn't playable in its current state. Not to mention I'm finding threads online of people complaining of the exact same issues on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3.
Piece of shit. We're swapping discs for a third time and if it still does not work I'm returning the game and getting a refund. There are plenty of games out there that work, I'm not holding onto a game that is broken in hopes of it working some day down the road, regardless of the game in question's quality.

It wasn't working at all. Campaign or multiplayer were fucked thoroughly.
Beth traded our copy for a third time and it appears to be working for her right now. I'm still waiting to see, though.

That's really strange. Never happened to me. You can phone Rockstar and complain if you want.

I did. Complete waste of time. Nobody from any customer service will ever admit that there might be a problem with their product. Worse, the man assumed I was a deaf and dumb pig and couldn't comprehend the onus of game testing and how no mistakes are ever made by any game company ever.
ADDED:
New copy seems to work. It only took two fucking trade ins before that happened.
Question: Which button do I press to mosey?
Everyone that I know says that the horses are a pain in the ass to control on the 360 version.

I think you misunderstood them. They probably said that it was a pain in the ass to try to tame and control THE HORSE COCK EXPRESS.

Can you dual-screen that free roam shit? You could be the first female member of the LONGHORN GANG (featuring the Horse Cock Express) hopefully later on tonight when Nate gets off work. I can't wait to see the King of Space in a big fuckin' sombrero or something suave instead of a helmet for a change.

I was gonna try to get some sleep tonight, but I can't resist telling the nerds and huars of the Old West to lick the vein. I love clearing out this one gang hideout to get the high powered pistol, then pillage, abuse and run train on all the whores me and the boys don't kill there and then go bear huntin' like real men. Then you just gotta pick one amateur nerd and kill him three on one for an hour every time he respawns just to be a dick.

This game really shows how far Rockstar has come along since GTA 4. I just went and started playing GTA 4 again today and while it still looks great and all for the time being but RDR just looks way better. I haven't played the other episodes for GTA 4, so I'm not sure if they've tweaked/updated the graphics some what for those compared to the original GTA 4 or if they updated the controls and just how it feels or not but I sure hope they did and they didn't just add more missions/stories with the same coat of paint and the exact controls. Because I think RDR plays/controls awesome.
Of course it's easier to right a horse or wagon being pulled by horses in a wide open environment than it is to drive in a city with tons of traffic and people all around to get ran over, but just the way "John" moves/runs, aims, shoots, and whatever else is like 100% better than how Niko controls in GTA 4. GTA 4 just seems to have a slight slowness to it compared to RDR, cause RDR just feels way smoother and faster.
Even all the detail in RDR is amazing. I just hope I can still get back into GTA 4 because I would like to complete it still as well as getting the other two episodes. Even though it wasn't RDR that has gotten me back into these wide open sandbox games that has to go to Just Cause 2.

Really loving this game. I've dumped about 11 hours into it, and I'm 17 percent done with the campaign. I always take my sweet time playing these games. The multiplayer is pretty fun too, although it sucks when you're a level 5 pitted against a level 40. Holy hell, talk about uneven.
I had something happen while out roaming the wilderness that actually depressed me just a little bit: I came across a man kneeling over the corpse of his dead wife. He's sat there sobbing, being distraught. So I get off my horse and walk over to him to see if I can talk to him -- maybe accept a quest to go avenge his wife or some such thing -- but there's no interaction to be had.
So I'm standing there, trying to decide if I ought to do something -- with wild animals all over the place, I'm not sure I want to leave the man alone with his dead wife, don't want him to get attacked -- and while I'm considering what to do, he pulls out a gun. It doesn't occur to me what he's going to do until it's too late.
My mother was watching me play -- she's a gamer at heart, but she can't really wrap her head round actually playing them -- and she actually cried out in surprise when the guy shot himself in the head. I admit I was a bit slack jawed. I thought, "I really wish it'd let me bury them or something, doesn't seem right just leaving them here", and then I went back on my way, looking for wrongs to right.
I love little moments like that in video games, moments that can genuinely surprise me and upset me. I wonder how many people haven't actually wandered across such a scene.
This game makes me really eager to play Agent. I feel bad for 360 owners who don't want to invest in a PS3 to play it.

My wife got me this for my birthday last month and I played quite a bit for a couple of weeks, before I had to start teaching my summer classes. It really is an awesome game, and one that I have a feeling I'll get obsessed with getting 100% complete (much the way I did for GTA:SA).
When I stopped, I'd just gotten into Mexico and done a few missions there, so I'll be picking it up at that point sometime soon.

We should play some online co-op, Blake. Or, if you've got two TVs at your gaff, I could cart my PS3 over sometime and we could play a LAN game. :wiggle:
