Before you see the remake in theaters tomorrow, check out our look at Romero's original film from 1973: The Crazies (http://www.oh-the-horror.com/page.php?id=599).

A great, overlooked Romero film. I need to watch this again soon. My BU DVD is collecting dust on my shelf.

Yeah, when I dusted my copy off a couple weeks ago to watch it, it had been years since I had watched that DVD. I'd forgotten just how damn long the fucker had been out. Time flies.

I think Blue Underground released it in 2003 or so. I think I've had my copy since 2006 & have watched it once since then.

Decided to revisit this today & I still think it's great. It seems to be overlooked amongst horror fans because it's not a Romero zombie movie but I think it's right up there with 'em. And up there with the amazing Martin too.

As with most of his films, I love the Pennsylvania scenery & locations. It's cool to see another look at Evans City, a place I've been wanting to visit for the better part of 10 years now because of George's films.

The ending was kind of a bummer but this is Romero we're talking about so it's no big surprise.

And Richard Liberty's character was a sick freak...a sick freak not as likeable as Dr. Logan.

The Crazies is one of my favorite George A. Romero films. I have not seen the new one yet. I'm just going to wait for home video and buy it when it comes out.

In a way, The Crazies reminds me of how life was like the day of and even the week after 9/11. It was confusion, chaos, and almost anarchy. Somehow, this film just makes me think of that moment in time.
