Sounds great, and your review is JUST what I wanted to hear.
Definitely gives me more motivation to check this out.

Just know that positive reviews like this one are apparently few and far between. Critics are killing this one for some reason. I dunno, to me, it just seemed like the originall, only it looks like a modern movie, has more gore, and a little bit more subplot. It comes across as feeling a little rushed (or over-edited maybe) which is I guess why some critics keep saying some of the performances seem phoned in, but I dunno.
Once people see it and know what I'm talking about with spoilers, I'll tell you how I would have had the movie play out. The dual-climax as is only half works, to be honest.

Well, I trust any O-T-H! reviews over anyone else when it comes to Horror Movie reviews.
And I'm being dead serious, here....not kissing ass at all. Unless you want me to, then I'd have to charge you a pretty penny.

Thanks, mang. If you were really the Rudd, I'd pay good money for those services.

Brett, this is the first review I have ever read on OTH. Must say, between you and Movie Bob (my traditional critic of choice) you've sold me on a movie I had originally intended to wait for a DVD release.

TDM...don't hurt him...he didnt know any better!
On a serious note, I may go see this tomorrow, if the local movie theater wants to stop being pussies over 3 crummy inches of snow and open up.

Welcome to the fuggin' south dere, DiMidio. We've got over half a foot here, it's kind of insane by our standards.
And Nate, thanks for reading.

I would be inclined to agree with TDM; I don't see why the critics are panning it, I thought it was well worth the three year wait, and I really did see it as being very much in the vein of the original, with just a few key differences here & there. I was able to really empathize with Benicio & Emily's character's, and that's always good for a movie. I really did like the combination of the practical effects with CGI, and thought it was played off well.

DM, I noted that you identified both Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving as Lawrence Talbot's father... surely that's a mistake?
Also, may consider reigning in use of the word "indeed" in a paragraph near the end. ;)
Otherwise, another fine review. Makes me even sorrier I can't afford to go see this.

That sucks, dude, because I do truly believe it's a hell of a movie, and probably one of the best remakes out there.

I saw it today, and thought it was pretty damn fun.

Saw it the other day, good flick... far story from the original, just the one thing I didn't like was the battle of the wolfmen at the end. I saw it coming and hoped it was just my imagination... but nope, they ended up doing it.

What's so bad about a good-old classic wolfman fight? I thought it kicked ass

I didn't have a problem with the fight in theory, but I thought it was a pretty soulless way to resolve the conflict between Sir John and Lawrence. There should have been more emotional weight behind the whole thing; instead, it kind of felt like watching a video game where CGI wolves were duking it out, and it felt removed from the emotional center of the whole thing.

I kind of agree. Though, the final battle between Sir John & Lawrence did have some emotion to it, it wasn't as amplified as it could've been. Still, I thought it was a hell of a fight & Lawrence proved that he was top dog when he decapitated Sir John.

Wait, did I get this straight?
New Larry Talbot kills Sir Hopkins by decapitating him? That doesn't kill werewolves. Unless there was silver involved. That's about as weak as Larry Talbot and Dracula being "killed" by falling off a balcony in "Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein".
Lord.
New Larry Talbot vs. Waldemar Daninsky. Place yer bets.

I think unless you were in Monster Squad, if definitly would kill a werewolf. Think of it this way, the theory is silver is the only substance that can break their skin for a human. But has anyone ever witnessed a werewolf kill another werewolf? I haven't. This movie showed the "what if" scenario. IMO.

I don't really have a problem with it either because the movie's own internal logic never really establishes rules for werewolf on werewolf violence, I guess. Silver bullets are presented as an option to kill a werewolf, but I guess it's different when a werewolf decapitates another werewolf.
The Wolfman was an amazing remake! I think it just might be the best of all the remakes out there.
The creature itself looked great. The story line was changed a little bit but it was for the better. The cast did a great job.
