I figured this thread was in order since he's been in two consecutive Halloween films, and if you're not a fan of Mane's performance or Mane in general, then this definitely isn't the thread for you. ;)

I thought he was pretty good at Sabretooth in X-Men, and could've been even better if he had been given more to do. As far as his two portrayals as Michael Myers go, I think he really knocked it out of the ballpark, especially with the second film.

I really dug him in X-Men but I disagree with about his RZ'sH performances, I felt is RZ'sH performance was top notch while his H2 not as much. That's more of a directorial fault really.

I disagree, because I think in RZH2 he cranked it up a notch and really destroyed some mofos.

I like both portrayals a lot, but I'd give the edge to his RZH2 portrayal.

I can't give it to H2 because IMO he isn't Michael Myers but some rampaging hobo.

Wasn't too bad in X-Men but is the worst Michael Myers to date.

I don't like Sabretooth in X-Men, but that's no fault of Mane's. Fact is there's not much going on with the character at all in that film - I think he did the best with what he was given.

I don't want to get involved in any sort of war, but I'm going to voice my opinions anyway. I'm not a fan of Rob Zombie's Halloween - I think the guy had some decent ideas actually (particularly the inclusion of Laurie's foster parents) but I'm not a fan of the execution.

That said, again I think Mane did a damn good job with what was on the page. Rob Zombie's Michael Myers may not fit with my idea of Michael Myers, but Mane is an actor - hired to do what the director wants him to do. So in my opinion, he did fine.

I don't think to much to him as a Pro Wrestler from the few matches I've seen he wasn't bad as Sabretooth I'm not going to get into the RZ Halloween debate

How so? I'd rank Don Shanks as being the worst Michael Myers to date. Sure, I like H5, but Don Shanks is by far the worst. I think he was a little too robotic and stiff in a lot of his movements. Mane, like Castle, didn't move in a robotic manner, and I have to give the man a hell of a lot of credit for not following what came before him.

He seems like a nice guy.

Yeah, he's real cool. I've talked to lots of peeps who said they had really friendly interactions with him.

Mane is awesome.

Definitely. He's my favorite Michael Myers of the bunch, because he's fucking huge, but also fast. Plus, I liked having a much more brutal Michael for a change. Sure, this interpretation sort of strayed from the more traditional Michael, but imo, it was still nice to see.

I have the exact opposite feelings. I enjoyed him as Myers for the most part, but he was awful as Sabretooth. He was a simple, dumb yes-man henchman with nothing to do. As bad as Wolverine was at times, they at least got Sabes right there as far as his intimidating, cunning, and intelligent presence goes.

Not sure why so many say he's the best Myers because he's "huge" and "like a tank". The character isn't supposed to be gigantic. He's supposed to be silent, methodical, and to use the real Loomis' words, "inhumanly patient".

But this is an appreciation thread, so I will play nice. ;)

Truthfully, that's the only thing I can say is at fault with Mane's performance is that he did grunt a little too much, but you can't really hold that against him, because Michael grunted in the original too. Sure, he's supposed to be silent, but a few grunts here & there doesn't really change anything.

As for the first portion of your post, I don't think he's the best because of how big he is. When I look at performances such as the men behind the mask of Myers, I'm looking for the quality of portrayal, not how big they are.

Dick Warlock is the shortest person to ever fill the shoes of the character. When he was younger, he was only about 5'8 (6'0 or so with the lifts he was given) & I never look at him & think "wow, he's short." When I look at these movies, I'm paying strict attention to the performance, so I don't see why so many will generalize & say that Mane is only said to be the best because of his stature. Speaking for myself & the other's who have agreed with my sentiment, this is not true in the slightest.

With the insanely large amount of Halloween fans I've talked to, out of everyone who has either said Dick Warlock is the best, in between, or the worst, none have said it was because of his height. The point I'm getting at is that it's ridiculous to even focus on that shit. Look at the performance & judge from there, forget the stature.

Another thing that irks me is that a lot of people see Mane as Michael & automatically think "oh, big guy's playing Mikey now....that's totally Jason Voorhees" & that's bullshit. I've analyzed every Halloween & F13th movie to a fucking T, & in no way was Mane's performance as close to Jason as some people will say.

I think, though, at the end of the day Mane only takes a lot of shit for his take on the character because the movie was directed at Rob Zombie. I can guarantee that if the two films were directed by someone else, but with Mane still in the role, he wouldn't get nearly the same amount of b.s. directed at him.

Sorry for the rant, just had a lot on ye old brain. Haha

IMO H2 was basically a shitfest BUT Mane was awesome in it. The opening scene with him killing the Ambulance drivers and killing the nurse in the hospital has got to be one of my favorite scenes of all time from any Halloween film. After that though... The movie kinda went to shit
