View Full Version : The Number 23
Searched but didn't find a thread.
This recently came out on video so we rented it and really enjoyed it.
Question for anyone who has seen it, we watched the unrated version.
What's the difference between that and the theatrical version?

I can't tell you the difference, sorry. I imagine just more rough sex than the theatrical version.
Anyways, I felt this movie sucked huge horsecock. Stupid plot. Stupid character development, stupid ending. The whole way through I found myself just wanting to put my head through the screen. I felt as if they were ripping off Secret Window, only doing a way worse job and marketing pieces of horse shit as DVDs.

Wow! That's exactly how I felt about "The Butterfly Effect"!

Visually, the movie looked amazing. The plot...well not so much. Topsy Krett? Please, I called Top Secret on that as soon as I heard it
My DVD kept breaking up in pixelation and freezing. I rented the Unrated version, and apparently I wasn't the only one with problems. There was a whole thread about people having this problem over at DVDTalk, so be cautious about buying the Unrated cut.

They might have to issue a recall on the Unrated Edition, although I know some films have problems on some DVD players but not others. I can't watch Bruce Almighty on my original (fat) PS2. Every copy I've tried freezes and breaks up around the same place. It happens on my best friend's PS2 as well. I've not tried it on a slimline yet.
I hope I don't have the same problem with The Number 23. That'd be two Jim Carrey films in a row. :duh:

I didn't think this was all that great either. TM, if you feel that way about The Butterfly Effect, stay far, far away from this.
(I actually sort of enjoyed TBE, though--I'm a sucker for time travel/branching universe stuff--so sue me.)

Ugh. I actually paid to see this in the theater and really just thought it might have been the worst thing ever at the time. I was actually 23 when I saw this though, so I blame that for actually wanting to see this piece o' crap.

Ohmygah, Sutter Cane you posted that at 4:23...*head explodes*
Honestly, I thought this film was pretty terrible. The twist recaptured my interest toward the end, but it was just such a mess.

Haha. I really don't even remember what the twist was. I haven't seen it since it was in the theater, which feels like ages ago.

Well, what I was referring to as the "twist" is the fact that he was the one that had written the book.

Ahh. That sounds faintly familiar. I think I wound up blocking out the whole thing since I disliked it so much.
