View Full Version : Has anyone here ever heard of a summer camp starting in August?

This is related to a timeline I posted in the Ft13 boards, but it's not really related to the films themselves, so I figured I'd put it in the general discussion forum. Obviously, most summer camps start in between late-May and mid-June, but is it at all common for shorter summer camp sessions to start in August? Or, more accurately, was it at all common back in the mid-80s? I'm asking because, if it was, I could move some of the films back a few years in my timeline to avoid absurdities like JTM taking place in 2003.

Maybe it's not Summer camp? haha
I know when I was in Florida schools Summer ended Sept 1. I went to a camp that was only two weeks too. So, I guess it's plausible.
Yes. The summer camp that my school I work at (as a sub) runs from July 1st to 31st and from Aug 1st the Friday before school starts in Sept.

Well, that's promising. Statements made in the "Crystal Lake Massacres Revisited" mockumentaries actually put ANB in early 1992 (presumably March, if it takes place on Friday the 13th). I was thinking about putting JL in August, 1993. If Tommy was born in late-August or early-September, then he would fit the description the script gave as being in his "late teens" (he'd be just a few weeks shy of 20). Then I'd have Rennie's flashback from JTM be some time in September of the same year (since she just went out to the lake with her uncle and wasn't actually at camp), the main events of TNB in May 1994, and the main events of JTM in June 1997.
My only gripe with that idea is that Tina looks MUCH more than 5 years older during the main events of TNB (I have the prologue in 1989). I put it in May 1994 because that seemed like the only month I could choose when someone would want to go skinny dipping. My other choices were in January, October, and December. If anyone here has ever lived in New Jersey or Connecticut, could you tell me how cold the water usually is in those three months?
I'm starting to regret posting this in the general discussion forum, as it just became heavily Ft13-related. Maybe it should be moved? I don't know.

I didn't h ave an idea of going on a summer camp in the winter season.Though many families begin researching summer camp in late fall or early winter as soon as the snow starts to melt, they realize how close summer really is and that is the time to make a decision. Please produce some attachment links regarding the Summer Camps starting in August. I would like to thank the members of the forum for promoting the post.
