I'm watching Rob Zombie's Halloween right now, and got the idea to retell the same story, but in a different way. So, basically, what I'm going to write will utilize the same characters, but basically be how RZH could've potentially turned out. It'll still start with young Michael, and I'll be telling his origin, but I guarantee it's not a carbon copy of what RZ did. Basically, just imagine the same actor's in the same roles, but just sprouting different lines. I'm also going to create a more likeable Loomis. I loved McDowell as Loomis, but I understand a lot of fans were unhappy with the route that character went, so I'm molding something new, and I'm really excited about this. I'm about to get started on it right now and have it posted up later tonight.

Stay tuned. ;)

ADDED:
Okay, as promised, here's the script. I spent over an hour working on it in almost a zombified state. Bear in mind this storyline doesn't follow the remake 100%, and I've taken the liberty of adding in elements from the original. Enjoy:

Halloween

"The darkest souls are not those which choose to exist within the hell of the abyss, but those which choose to break free from the abyss and move silently among us."

-- Dr. Samuel Loomis

INT. MYERS HOUSE

The story begins on the morning of October 31st, 1978, where we see a young boy in a clown mask, MICHAEL MYERS, playing with a rat in his hands.

As the young boy caresses the rat, his mother, DEBORAH MYERS, and stepdad, RONNIE WHITE. Deborah is cooking breakfast while Ronnie is running around the house in a rush to get ready for work.

Ronnie stops in the kitchen, and prepares a cup of coffee. As he sets it down, his tie dips into it.

Ronnie

Dammit, my tie is dirty now. Deborah, do I have another clean tie?

Deborah

Check your closet, there should be a few clean ones in there. I washed them last night.

Ronnie exits the kitchen as Deborah's daughter, JUDITH MYERS, enters and grabs a box of cereal. Judith proceeds to sit down.

Deborah

Good morning, Judith.

Judith

Good morning, mom.

Judith begins pouring the cereal into a bowl, as Deborah takes notice.

Deborah

Whoa, I'm making eggs over here. Don't you want any?

Judith

No, I'm fine, I don't eat eggs anymore.

Deborah

Why not?

Judith

They're chicken abortions.

Deborah

(laughing)

Whatever. Look, I need you to go get your brother for breakfast.

Judith

Okay.

Ronnie enters the room once again with a clean tie, thanking Deborah and then kissing her before sitting down, preparing himself for breakfast.

Meanwhile, Judith knocks on Michael's door, trying to get his attention.

Judith

Michael, get downstairs, mom's almost done with breakfast

Michael

Okay, I'll be down in a little bit.

Judith

What are you doing in there?

Michael

I'm still getting ready for school.

Judith walks away from the door, unaware that inside Michael is cleaning a blade he apparently used to murder his pet rat with.

Judith goes back downstairs and sits down, and Michael enters the room shortly, still with his face hidden by a clown mask.

Deborah

What took you so long?

Michael

Elvis died...had to flush him.

Deborah

It's okay, we'll get you a new one after school.

Ronnie

Am I the only one who finds it weird to pay money for a rat?

Judith

No, you're not. They're disgusting little vermin.

Ronnie

Son, what's with the mask?

Michael

It's Halloween today.

Ronnie

Really? I didn't notice. Don't you think you're a little too old to still celebrate Halloween?

Michael

I don't think you can ever be too old to celebrate Halloween.

The family begins eating breakfast and continue conversing, laughing as they do so.

INT. HADDONFIELD JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Next we see Michael at school, in the bathroom, as two other kids enter the bathroom.

One of the kids is largely referred to as RED, a nickname that he's maintained for quite some time, and the other regularly referred to by his real name, MARCUS. The two are school bullies, but have never actually attempted to bully Michael.

The two bullies began to converse as Michael continues to use the bathroom.

Red

Dude, I told you that kid was all talk. As soon as we got outside he was all "I'm not gonna fight you man."

Marcus

You want to egg his house?

Red

Totally.

Michael exits the stall and begins to wash his hands, and the other two kids continue to talk, ignoring him.

Red walks past Michael to enter a stall, and bumps him, which is somewhat accidental and yet also somewhat purposely done.

Michael

Excuse you.

Red

What?

Michael

You bumped me.

Red

So what? What are you going to do about it.

Marcus walks over and stands by Red.

Marcus

Yeah, what are you going to do about it?

Michael attempts to ignore them after seeing they aren't being reasonable, and picks up his bag, beginning to walk away, while Red and Marcus begin to laugh and mumble.

Red

That's just what I thought.

Marcus

Look at this little shit trying to get all tough.

Red

I bet his mom's a whore.

Michael, hearing the comment, drops his bag, and turns around.

Michael

What did you say?

Red

I said, I bet your mom's a whore. Does that upset you? What are you gonna do about it?

Michael stares at Red, who pushes him, goading him to do something about his comment. Michael, getting angry, punches Red, and Marcus immediately grabs him, but Michael begins to punch him repeatedly, dropping him.

As Michael turns around Red hits him, and as the two bullies gang up on him, another kid, TIM ROBINSON, enters the bathroom, and attempts to help Michael, hitting Marcus and knocking him down.

The principle of the school is walking down the hall, and upon hearing the commotion, enters the bathroom.

Principle Chambers

What the hell is going on here? Break it up! I said break it up!

Red

He started it.

Principle Chambers

Shut up! All of you to my office, now!

EXT. PRINCIPAL CHAMBERS' OFFICE

Michael and Tim are sitting outside of Principal Chambers office as he talks to Red and Marcus.

Tim

What were you thinking about when you decided to fight them?

Michael

I could've handled the situation myself. You didn't have to get involved.

Tim

You're my friend, I couldn't just let you get jumped by those guys.

Principal Chambers opens his door, in which Red and Marcus exit the office, and Michael is called into the office.

Principal Chambers

Michael, what happened? Fighting is not like you. Neither is your other activities.

Michael

He insulted me and my mother.

Principal Chambers

Even so, violence isn't always the best means of solving problems. And how do you explain what else you've done?

Michael doesn't respond, and sits in the chair with an almost blank expression on his face.

Principal Chambers

Alright, Michael, I need your mother's work number. What is it?

INT. DEBORAH'S OFFICE

Deborah is seen in her office shuffling papers as her phone rings, and she answers it.

Deborah

Hello?

Principal Chambers

This is Principal Chambers, and I'm calling about your son, Michael. He was involved in an altercation earlier. I'm not going to suspend him or give him detention, but I still need you to come down.

Deborah

Why? What's wrong?

Principal Chambers

I'll tell you when you get here.

INT. HADDONFIELD JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Deborah is seen walking down the hallway, and walks into Principal Chambers office, and takes a seat.

Deborah

What's going on? Michael's never been a troublesome student so what's so urgent I had to come down here?

Principal Chambers

There's just something you gotta know, but I'm waiting on someone to arrive before we discuss it.

Just as Principal Chambers utters the last word of his sentence, a man, DR. SAMUEL LOOMIS, walks into the office.

Principal Chambers

This is Dr. Samuel Loomis.

Dr. Loomis

Hello Jim, is this her?

Principal Chambers

Yes.

Deborah

Okay, what's going on?

Principal Chambers

Dr. Loomis here is a child psychologist.

Deborah

Psychologist? What does this have to do with anything?

Dr. Loomis

Mrs. Myers, has your son ever exhibited any unusual behavior?

Deborah

Not that I've seen. He's just like any other boy.

Principal Chambers takes out photos, which he shows to Deborah. The photo's are of mutilated dogs and various other animals.

Deborah

This is really sick. Are you saying Michael did this? Michael loves animals.

Principal Chambers opens his drawer and takes out a dead cat in a bag, and puts it on the desk.

Deborah

Big deal, he found a dead cat.

Dr. Loomis

Mrs. Myers, typically the thrill of hurting or causing pain to smaller creatures is often an early warning sign.

Deborah

An early sign for what?

Dr. Loomis

For deeper and bigger problems.

As Deborah and Dr. Loomis continue their discussion, Michael gets up and leaves, going to his locker and gathering his items, including his clown mask.

Michael stands outside of the school as Red and Marcus exit the school.

Red

Dammit, if I get one more detention my old man is going to ground me for life.

Marcus

You have to get that little shit on the weekend.

Red

If I see that little shit he's fucking dead.

Michael continues to watch Red, who comes across another kid and proceeds to pull his hat down over his head, and push him to the ground.

EXT. WOODS

Red walks into the woods as he prepares to take a shortcut home, unaware that Michael has given him his full attention.

The woods remain quiet as Red ventures through them, and as he comes up to a tree he is hit in the legs with a large log by Michael, causing him to fall to the ground.

As Red shouts obscenities at his assailant, Michael continues to hit him in the lower back and legs with the log, causing his nose to bleed.

Michael holds the log down on top of Red's leg, who pleads with him not to kill him. Michael lets up his mask, revealing his identity to Red.

Red

Please...please no. I'm sorry.

Red's apology and pleas are of no use as Michael continues to beat him with the log until he is dead, and tosses the log to the ground.

He stares down at Red, admiring his handiwork, and then walks off.

INT. MYERS HOUSEHOLD

Ronnie

Michael, why did you do what you did to those animals? This isn't like you.

Michael

I don't know.

Ronnie

Look, Michael, you've been doing great in school, I don't want you to fall off now. I understand that I'm not your real dad and you may not like that he's no longer here, but I love your mom, and you, and your sister very much, so if you need to talk about anything I'm here.

Michael

Okay, thanks.

Deborah walks down the stairs, still dressed from work, as the phone rings, and she proceeds to answer it.

Deborah

Hello? Yes, I can make it in. I'll be there shortly.

Ronnie

What's going on?

Deborah

The office needs me to come in to do more paperwork, they said they're behind.

Michael

But, mom, who's going to take my trick or treating if you're leaving?

Deborah

You're old enough to go alone, Michael.

Michael

But I wanted to go with you.

Deborah

If I weren't going to work I'd take you, but I think you're old enough to go alone. I'll go with you next year. Deal?

Michael

Deal.

The doorbell rings, and Deborah answers it. At the door is STEVE HALEY, Judith's boyfriend.

Deborah

Judith, Steve's down here!

Steve

Hi, Mrs. Myers.

Deborah

I want you out before 11.

Steve

What'd I do?

Deborah

I know what you do when I'm not here.

Steve

Yeah, okay.

Deborah walks out the door as Judith comes down the stairs and Steve follows her into the living room, where they both sit down with Ronnie as he watches TV.

Judith glares at Ronnie, who first looks confused, and then recognizes what she's hinting at.

Ronnie

Okay, okay, I'm leaving. I'll leave you two alone. I'm going to Frank's house to see if he wants to have a beer.

Ronnie gets up and goes upstairs to prepare to leave, as the doorbell rings once again and Michael answers it, seeing Tim. He leaves with Tim to go trick or treating, as Judith and Steve watch TV.

Tim

You okay?

Michael

Yeah, I'm fine.

Tim and Michael walk down the street, as jack o'lanterns fill the yards of many residents, as well as many other decorations set up to celebrate Halloween.

EXT. MYERS HOUSEHOLD

About half an hour after Michael's leave, Judith and Steve are found still sitting on a couch in the living room. Steve begins to kiss Judith, who giggles as he kisses her.

Judith

We've got the house all to ourselves. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Steve

Wait, where's your brother?

Judith

Out trick or treating. Trust me, we're alone.

The two continue to kiss, unaware they are being watched by Michael through a window. They both get up and run upstairs, as Michael enters the house and looks around.

INT. MYERS HOUSEHOLD

He goes to the kitchen, and grabs a knife, and slowly heads toward the stairs, where he sees Steve coming down, who is unaware he's in the house.

Judith

Are you going to call me later?

Steve

(reluctantly)

Yeah.

Steve exits the house as Michael makes his way up the stairs. He makes his way to Judith's room, gently opening the door, where she is seen sitting topless in front of a mirror brushing her hair.

Michael walks up to her, and as she notices his presence, she attempts to cover up.

Judith

Michael!

Michael begins to viciously stab Judith, who falls to the ground dead due to her wounds.

Michael makes his way back down the stairs, as his mother pulls up to the young boy who is still wielding a knife.

Deborah

Michael, what's going on? Michael? Answer me. What's going on?

Interesting. Just out of curiosity, but how seriously do you take screenwriting in general? haha, I mean no harm when I say that. I only ask because I've been screenwriting for years, and find your formatting off in various manners. I've learned to love the craft, so excuse me if I come off as harsh or whatnot when it comes to your formatting. I just hate to see talent wasted on poor formatting. I haven't read what you have, but judging from your first paragraph, I'm not sure how this will work.

As I mentioned, I've been writing way back from before Final Draft even existed (which it's now currently up to version 8, in which I would highly recommend. haha). But from my own perspective, I feel you are going about it in the wrong way. I don't think you should use Robbin Zombie's Halloween as a template. You can use the same characteristics for the characters, but I don't think you are going for a strong enough impact, if you get my drift.

How about setting the same version of Michael up in an entirely different environment? Rather than the idiotic white trash angle that Robbin set-up, why not go for a loving and caring family? Somewhat similar to the original. I feel that it would create a bigger impact on the readers to see a disturbed individual in an loving and caring environment snap and start killing for no apparent reason (at least, to the readers), as opposed to having him live in the most cinematically cliche surroundings for a serial killer.

Well, I do wish you luck. I've been in a similar position that you have been in. I remember when I was first starting out (back in '86, haha) I used to try and write my own sequel to a Friday the 13th film.

I'm as serious as can be when it comes to writing scripts and such, but I purposely put it this way on the forum, I always put fan-fics up this way. I know proper formatting.

Read the script.

Okay. Well, I do hope you understand and relish the proper formatting of screenplays. It is very important when trying to sell.

And I will read it when I next find the chance. I was just a bit mislead when you mentioned you were basically using the remake as template, so I simply assumed you were keeping in the white trash, cliche abusive family as well.

Okay. Well, I do hope you understand and relish the proper formatting of screenplays. It is very important when trying to sell.

When it comes down to a script that is going to be used for a TV show or movie, I make sure it's in proper format and what not, but for fan-fics, I usually just format them the way you see.

And I will read it when I next find the chance. I was just a bit mislead when you mentioned you were basically using the remake as template, so I simply assumed you were keeping in the white trash, cliche abusive family as well.

I only tell you to read it because it depicts exactly what you're acting for, and when I say I was using it as a template, I meant I'd keep some elements from the film, not all. The main thing I set out to change was his family life. Hell, if you read it, all of the events don't happen the same, though some do in a similar fashion, and I'm focusing on telling a story and not having a bunch of kills, so I want to keep it intact with the original film. I don't mind movies with a bunch of kills because God knows I'm a sucker for a movie with some great kills and a lot of gore, but for this story I'm trying to keep it simple, and tell the best story possible.

Also, Laurie is NOT Michael's sister in this story.

Fifteen years later, we see Dr. Loomis, a now much more visibly older man, is seen sitting in a car with a woman, MARION CHAMBERS, driving the car.

DR. LOOMIS

You ever done anything like this before?

MARION

Not with a patient like this. There seems to be extra security around him. Usually it's much simpler. The only thing that really bothers me about it is their gibberish....when they start raving on and on.

DR. LOOMIS

Well, you have nothing to worry about. It hasn't spoken a word in over 15 years.

MARION

Don't you think we should refer to it as "he?"

DR. LOOMIS

If you say so.

A silence invades the car briefly as Marion continues to drive through the hard rain.

MARION

What do I give him when we go before the judge?

DR LOOMIS

Thorazine.

MARION

He'll barely be able to stand up.

DR LOOMIS

Exactly.

Marion pulls up to Smith's Grove Sanitarium, only for them to be shocked to see patients out of their rooms and roaming around the front of the building in a dazed and confused state.

MARION

Since when do they let them wonder around?

DR LOOMIS

Pull on up to the main gate.

MARION

Bu--

DR. LOOMIS

Go on, move!

Marion pulls up to the main gate as more prisoners walk around, and is instructed by Loomis to stop the car, as he begins to unbuckle himself.

MARION

I think we shou---

DR. LOOMIS

Just wait.

Dr. Loomis runs up to the gate and tries to use a phone near it, but cannot get through.

Back in the car, a mysterious figure, Michael Myers, jumps atop the car, and Marion looks up as the figure moves around. She rolls down her window, and as she looks up her head is grabbed forcefully, causing her to press on her gas pedal.

She's able to shake the hand loose and stops the car and crawls back to the other door, where a fist comes down and punches through, causing Marion to get out of the car.

Dr. Loomis runs up to her and checks to see if she's okay as Michael drives off.

DR. LOOMIS

Are you alright?

MARION

I'm fine.

DR. LOOMIS

Dammit, the evil is gone!

INT. STRODE HOUSEHOLD

Next we a seventeen year old angelic girl, LAURIE STRODE, and her parents rushing around the house trying to get their day started.

CYNTHIA STRODE, Laurie's mother, is preparing breakfast as quickly as she can, while her father MASON STRODE is rushing to get ready to go to work.

CYNTHIA

Mason, Laurie, get down here!

Laurie comes down the stairs, grabbing her books off of a table.

CYNTHIA

Are you eating, Laurie?

LAURIE

No, I think I'll just grab something at school later.

Laurie walks out the door, and soon after her father does as well.

EXT. STREET - DAY

MASON

Laurie, don't forget to drop that key off at the Myers place.

LAURIE

Will do.

Laurie continues walking down the street, and then crosses to the other side of the street, where she is accompanied by TOMMY DOYLE, a child she regularly babysits.

LAURIE

Hey Tommy, you ready for tonight?

TOMMY

Yeah. Can we watch scary movies tonight?

LAURIE

Yes.

TOMMY

Eat candy?

LAURIE

Of course.

TOMMY

Carve a jack o'lantern?

LAURIE

Absolutely.

Laurie and Tommy come upon the Myers' house, where Laurie stops and begins to walk up to the porch.

TOMMY

Wait, you're not supposed to go up there.

Laurie ignores Tommy's comment, and opens the mail chute, dropping a key down to the ground, as the mysterious figure, Michael Myers, watches her from the other side of the door as she runs to Tommy.

TOMMY

What were you doing?

LAURIE

I had to drop off a key for my dad.

TOMMY

Why?

LAURIE

My dad has to sell the house, it's his job. Why are you so nervous about being around the house?

TOMMY

I heard that awful things happened in that house once, and some kids at school told me an evil spirit lives in the house.

LAURIE

You can't honestly believe everything people tell you, Tommy.

Tommy departs across the street, as Laurie walks down the street, beginning to sing to herself as Michael steps behind her, watching her as she walks down the street.

LAURIE

(singing)

I wish I had you all alone....just the two of us....

EXT. Smith's Grove

Dr. Loomis is seen exiting Smith's Grove, with DR. TERENCE WYNN following behind him.

DR. WYNN

For God's sake, Loomis, be reasonable.

DR. LOOMIS

I'm being completely reasonable.

DR. WYNN

You should've told someone if he was that much of a danger.

DR. LOOMIS

I told everybody! No one listens.

DR. WYNN

For Christ's sake, what do you want me to do?

DR. LOOMIS

I want you to get back on that phone, and tell them who broke out of here last night and exactly where he's going!

DR. WYNN

And where is he going?

DR. LOOMIS

Haddonfield.

DR. WYNN

Haddonfield is over 100 miles away. Now for God's sake he couldn't even drive a car!

DR. LOOMIS

He was doing a damn fine job last night! Maybe someone around here gave him lessons? I'm wasting my time.

Dr. Loomis enters his car, as Dr. Wynn watches him drive off, and heads back towards the entrance of Smith's Grove.

INT. HADDONFIELD HIGH SCHOOL

In class, Laurie is seen sitting and conversing with her two best friends, ANNIE BRACKETT, and LYNDA VAN DER KLOK.

ANNIE

So, are you going to do it or not?

LAURIE

I don't know.

ANNIE

What's going to happen?

LAURIE

Nothing.

ANNIE

It'll be fine.

LYNDA

What'll be fine?

LAURIE

Annie wants me to babysit Lindsay Wallace, while she goes to see Paul.

ANNIE

Please.

LAURIE

Alright, I'll do it.

Laurie looks out the window, and across the street Michael is watching her, while standing behind a car. Laurie turns her attention towards her teacher, and briefly listens to her.

As Laurie looks back out of the window, Michael is gone, as she looks on, somewhat startled.
