This is something that has not been done yet.Lets here your opinions and ideas.
I can picture a group of kids going to a frozen Crystal lake to play hockey and Jason pop up in goal and then a blizzard moves in.

I like it, as I've said before. The woods in winter is always a great, creepy environment. When the blizzard hits, for instance, one wouldn't even be able to hear any screams from the next cabin. And, as someone else said, blood on snow is the shit.

I started to write a fan fiction involving Crystal Lake in a snowy setting years ago (I was a junior in high school). It's long gone now, though, along with my embarrassingly bad FvJ script.

I think having a movie set in winter having snow around the lake would be good idea. I wish they would had done that in Jason X instead him in space

One thing is for sure blood would be very visible on snow..that would be a treat for us gory fans!

What would be interesting is a blizzard in the woods and you can't see more than a couple feet in front of you whan all of a sudden jason attacks.

I wrote a fan fic many years who with another member here back in '98 (going under the name Thorn for you old schoolers on here)...We had some cool stuff in it, including a nice icicle kill. I also wrote in a flashback scene of a long haired Jason living in the woods and running into some kids playing hockey on a frozen Crystal Lake. One of them falls through the ice and starts to go under when Jason appears and pulls him out (remembering how terrifying it was for himself when he was drowning). The kid then looks up at Jason, sees his deformed face and goes to run away. He then stops, turns around and hands Jason his hockey mask. Jason puts it on as the kid then runs away. Jason's first hockey mask! I always believed he could have very well enjoyed the mask far before part 3 and just lost in throughout the years and in 3 he was just getting a new one.

I've always loved the idea of a winter setting for an F13 movie, especially in blizzard conditions(near the end of the movie). It would be so awesome if say, for the last 20 minutes of the movie Jason has no mask on and the wind/snow(huge blizzard) is not letting us see his face too clearly while the remaining survivors are trying to get away with almost no visibility of where they are going.

Todd Farmer brought it up with Cunningham before, and I believe he liked it, but it was scrapped in favor of the space theme. They did this, because of the uncertinity of FvsJ.

well at the end of fvsj it's supposed to turn ccl into a resort type place, just kids on a ski trip during school getting slaughtered.

I'd love to see a Friday that takes place in the winter with snow all over the woods around the lake and the lake frozen over with a thin layer of ice. So many good possibilities!

How do you get repetitive ? They never did a snow scene in fr 13th
Autobotsdie
07-17-2007, 06:27 AM
I mean if they did a snow scene it would be like every other scene in every Friday the 13th movies where Jason just kills alot of teenagers but he is just doing it in the snow.

But it would at least be different setting. All Jason can do is kill so all you got to work with is atmosphere and characters

Another idea I had for this is Jason falling through the ice on a frozen Crystal Lake, while the victims are running from him on it and he pops up through the ice at an unexpected moment and pulls someone under, drowning them. Man, this movie has so much potential. Why the fuck doesn't anyone in the industry seem to think so?

Here ya go. Couple of death scenes from a script I wrote years ago involving Crystal Lake in the winter...
***
CLOSE ON A LOW HANGING TREE BRANCH
On this branch are a series of thickly frozen icicles. We focus in on a long, thick and sharp one.
A rotting hand comes into view, plucking the sharp dagger like ice chunk from its branch.
Steve finishes his piss and turns around as JASON steps into his path. Steve backs up with fear but regains his composure and laughs...
STEVE
All right Jimmy, Mitch I don't know how you guys pulled this one off but you got me.
(Laughs)
When did you get back?
Jason reaches out and GRABS Steve by the hair.
STEVE (CONT'D)
Jimmy!! What the fuck are you --
Jason lifts the icicle high in the air and PLUNGES it down into Steve's wide-open mouth.
SQUISH!!! It TEARS trough his throat and out the back of his neck. Small moans escape his throat as he sinks to his death. Blood and flesh litter the soft white snow.
Just before he dies, Jason WHIPS him at a tree, SNAPPING his back on impact.
***
And...
***
Jason reaches down and puts his right hand into her mouth, then jerks his whole body, RIPPING UP, taking off Kelly's upper jaw and half her head.
Blood and brain splatter and drip onto the snow below as Kelly's half-headless body drops to the ground.
***
i don't see why everyone is so hell bent on seeing jason in the snow??

Simple. It's change. It's something new. Jason in the summer killing teens has been done to death. The summer setting at Crystal Lake is old and tired now and while I love the movies we have, I don't want to see the same thing over and over again. A winter setting would be new and fresh and full of possibilities you couldn't capture with the summer setting. Awesome stuff Jason couldn't do in another ol' summer camp movie...
I guess you're right, but there's many other alternative setting changes that i'd prefer over a winter setting.

Like what? A gentle autumn setting with leaves falling? How would Jason maneuver through the woods with all those damn crackling leaves under his feet? ;)...
Nah, I think the key is keeping Jason at Crystal Lake. We've seen the results with JTM and JX where they remove him from Crystal Lake. Personally, I'd like to see a movie where they deal more with the town and less with the woods/camp. Still have the camp involved, but bring Jason into the town of Crystal Lake. I think there's allot of sweet possibilities there as well!
yeah a creepy small town setting would definitley make for some jason shenanigans:p

It would! That's what I'd like to see if we ever get a FvsJ 2. In FvsJ we dealt in all the myserious of Springwood and only in the end did we make it to Crystal Lake. If we get Prt 2, I'd like to see some mysterious of the town of Crystal Lake explored. Keep the film at Crystal Lake. In the town and in the woods. Maybe end it back in Springwood as a reversal to how FvsJ ended.

I think the reason that the films have been set in the summertime is because kids go to camp in the summer. But, going along with what was previously mentioned about kids playing hockey, the next film could have a hockey camp at Crystal Lake where kids attend it during their winter break. Then we could have our snow setting!!

Acctualy I would love a summer movie again... Parts 6, 7, 8, JGTH and JX didn't feel like a summer to me at all.. more like fall.

How about a split of both start it out in town have the police pick up the wrong guy for Jason's killings.Have a group of 9 kids come to crystal lake.Jason see's them arriving from his tool shed part 7/shack part 2 combined look.Stalks them lurks sneeks around POV shots and face shots kills them all off except the last 2 Female and and a male Corey Feldman as adult Tommy.Have them beat the crap out of Jason with Tommy laying the final blow to the middle of Jason's mask which naturally falls off for us to get old school glimpse at his face and a human kill ending instead zombie lightning electric etc.
Have Tommy dispose of Jason and his mask into the lake.Finish up the movie with a group of kids arriving at the camp for some hockey on the frozen lake.Have Jason pop in at goalie since he was all ready killed off by Jason the pissed off goal tender.End it with Jason killing last survivor standing in the middle of Crystal Lake and the blizzard snow coming down as the camera fades back and away slowly until out of site and then the credits.

How about the camp during the winter with the lake frozen over and Jason below the ice. The campers come for a winter retreat and they notice a body laying under the ice and when they investigate they see that is Jason so they break him out thinking that its a corpse and call the police to come get him. The police take forever to get there and while they are waiting Jason wakes up and starts terriorizing the campers and when the cops finally arrive they see the carnage left by Jason and Jason is no where to be in sight. The last scene you see is somewhere in the woods looking at the camp from a distance and the cops are taking the bodies out and you hear Jason breathing and hear that ki ki ki ma ma ma beofre it fades to black.

Forget the whole goalie part. Just make him into a killer who has had enough. Better yet make it to where he not only terrorize the whole camp but somehow he makes it to the nearest town and unleashes hell on the town during the winter.

I could imagine Jason breaking through the ice only to be hit with the freezing winter air. And for one calm moment he lets out a deep breath and we see the air coming out of his mask. That'd be cool.
I could also picture a scene where he's stalking someone across the frozen top of Crystal Lake. They're scrambling and slipping on the ice and Jason is closing in slowly- not falling all over the place, but having to walk a little slower to keep his balance. I just think it'd be cool if the person could see Jason and he's not more than 20 feet away, and turn it into a real tense scene where it's a game of who can move further faster.
I like the idea of a blizzard for the visual appeal and because it prevents any help from coming in and any victims from getting out. Unless they're willing to trudge through the snow on foot.
And the poster; simple. Jason's white (more white than usual) hockey mask obscured by a snow flurry. Give the impression that he could be mere feet in front of you and you wouldn't know it. Yeah.

Yeah, that's the way 6, 7, 8, JGTH, JX felt to me also. A summer feel to a new movie would be great.
Although the winter setting sounds interesting...

Or have it to where both Jason and the victim fall through the ice and you can see them struggle under the ice and Jason kills them under the ice and resurfaces to after more victims.

While some don't want to see "the same thing over and over," that's what made the early Fridays so popular. The same basic story with new victims. It worked because it's fun. A change could be good if done right, but there's not much you can do without straying too far. And the overall fan opinion of the films where they strayed from the formula of I-VII isn't too favorable (even though I personally enjoy JTM and like JGTH as a standalone, albeit having no place in the series).

winter never works cos camp is always closed for the winter. But it would be fun to see blood staining the snow red. Summer-fall is much better for atmosphere tho in Jason's world. If F13th took place in winter, it would be about Jason killing people in town. He never really had to since that's out of his territory, unless he needs clothes or something (ala F13 part 3).

You could always say that someone decided to turn Camp Crystal Lake into a general resort/vacation destination, which would explain why people are there during the winter.

There are mountains in the area, and a skii resort would work, however not at Camp Crystal Lake since it was pretty much flat. Perhaps using it as a cross country skiing lodge or a snowmobile racing lodge would also work.
