This fall on G4, executive producer Mel Brooks is ready to launch the continuation of his cult classic film, Spaceballs. Brooks appears to be playing Yogurt in the series.
G4 has an official website (http://www.g4tv.com/spaceballs/index.html), but it's not loading for me right now.

In the words of Ted "Theodore" Logan, "No way. NO. WAY." I still think that they should make a second Spaceballs film that lampoons the prequel trilogy.

Brooks has been trying for years to get a sequel made, but there's just no interest. The Animated Series is the next best thing, apparently.
Here's the info I've seen:

Production began in early 2005 under the supervision of Brooksfilms Limited, MGM and Berliner Film Company GmbH. A total of 13 episodes are planned to be aired on G4 in the fall of 2007.
Mel Brooks will not only direct the writing, but will also voice two characters, President Skroob and Yogurt, who were both in the original 1987 film.

I like how the animation is kind of reminiscent of the Clone Wars microseries. Brooks and his creative team must have planned that one.

That's just "the" style these days, I think. A lot of recent animated series look like that.

I'm still sad that "Spaceballs 3: The Search for Spaceballs 2" never got made.

I smell win -- with Mel Brooks supervising the scripts, it's bound to be at least passable.

I'll certainly check it out. I enjoyed the film. It wasn't as funny as Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein, but it was good.

I've never seen Blazing Saddles, but I think Young Frankenstein is terribly overrated. I like it, mind, I think it's funny... I just don't think it's all that and a bag of Pepperjack Doritos. I certainly think Spaceballs is funnier, but that could be because I saw it first.
For the record, I think High Anxiety and Silent Movie are two of his best. I'm also keen on Dracula: Dead and Loving It, and the film where Brooks plays a rich man who ends up poor. I can't remember the film's name off the top of my head.
ADDED:
The only thing I can't figure out about the character design for this series is the way they've realized Dark Helmet. I wonder if there's a reason that he's two and a half foot tall? :duh:

A "Lil' Ani" parody perhaps? I wonder if they'll bring back Rick Moranis...

Jeans, you can't post again until you see "Blazing Saddles". ;)
Seriously, it's his best movie EASILY.

I disagree very much, IMO it's his best movie, mainly because it featured my favourite actor and the nicest guy I ever met, John Candy

Blazing Saddles has been on my list for a long time, Tall. I'll get around to it eventually. :D
Excuse my French but why in the hell is this on G4?
Because G4 is the only network that would show it, presumably. The show went into production in 2005 and is only just about to come out this Fall. I think they had trouble finding a network to host it.

I was looking at pictures from the new Children of the Corn film on Bloody Disgusting, and I saw an advertisement that says the show will finally begin on September 21st at 5PM.
It will, and they're gonna begin the hell out of it - not one premiere episode but four, sandwiched between airings of the movie.
The September 21st schedule (http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/689033/Spaceballs_Comes_To_G4.html) -
3:00 - Spaceballs
5:00 - Spaceballs: Revenge of the Sithee
5:30 - Spaceballs: Lord of the Onion Ring
6:00 - Spaceballs: Grand Theft Starship
6:30 - Spaceballs: Watch Your Assic Park
7:00 - Spaceballs

I forgot all about this show. Hopefully I can remember to watch it.
The movie is one of the best spoofs ever made.

Oh crap! I hadn't heard a thing about this, and now I'm wanting some G4! Probably have to wait for the DVD, though.

saw a couple of the episodes.
okay, the biggest complaint i haveis the animation. it has a cheap, rushed, bad flash quality to it. I'm not joking. the opening theme music and song is awful. the voice work isn't bad; no Rick Moranis, or (obviously) John Candy, and no Bill Pullman. but Brooks does the voices of Yogurt and Skroob, and Daphne Zuniga is back as Princess Vespa, but that really is the only bright spot of this series. if you're expecting Clerks TAS, or even more spaceballs stuff, you'll be disappointed.
I'll still watch a couple more episodes just because I like Mel and I've always had a crush on Daphne.
it just feels so half-assed, y'know?

Shit. I missed this because I thought it was on the 25th. Does anyone know if it'll repeat?
The four will air again today at the same time.

Isn't that going to put them in direct competition with The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Heroes? (I'm not sure if the times you posted a page back are Pacific/Central/Eastern).

I caught the first four episodes. Not too bad. The back story to Dark Helmet was funny.

I only made it about half way through the first episode before I switched off. I've got a sinking feeling it's going to be terrible, but I'm going to re-approach it with a fresh perspective tomorrow.

I caught it yesterday evening around 6 on G4. I must say, it was a lot better than I thought it'd be. The voices are the most noticeable change, but the voice acting on Vespa and Dot are spot on. The guy doing Barf's voice is generic in comparison to John Candy's, but the guy's been dead for about 15 years now, so whatever works.

Well they should be, seeing as they're played by the original actresses. :X Skroob and Yogurt sound good too, since Brooks is playing them, but the guy who plays Dark Helmet doesn't even attempt to sound like Rick Moranis.

Well, I feel stupid . I thought something like this would be beneath Joan Rivers, but then again, what else is the mummy doing these days? As for Daphne Zuniga, I guess her stint on ABC Family was a blow to her career resurrection, so desperation may have played a role there.

Too bad Rick Moranis didn't come back as Dark Helmet. What about Dark Helmet's right hand man Colonel Sandurz? I haven't seen him on the show yet. I liked his character in the movies.

I've seen Watchyourassic Park, Revenge of the Sithee, and Lord of the Onion Rings. I don't think it's that bad, although I'm getting a 'Phantom Menace' feeling about it. The movie is one of my all time favorites, I remember getting the tape when I was in 1st grade as a present. The movie is fucking hilarious, and it never grows old. THe series just isn';t as hysterical as the film, that's a bit expected. It's watchable, but I really don't see it lasting for more than a season or 2. Which is a bit of a shame actually. I dunno, I'll keep watching. There are some pretty funny jokes, although it falls a bit short after waiting 10 years for something like this. I'm stilll a bit disappointed that 'Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money' never saw production, I remember hearing he was trying to get a sequel made. But, it's nice to see that Daphne and Joan are voicing their respective roles. I'll probably continue to watch, even if on the basis that Spaceballs is one of my favorite films.
Now the mystery is - when is G4 going to air the other 9 episodes?

Watched it. Not impressed.
Even though my DVR wanted to skip them as reruns, it looks like there will be 2 new episodes today (Sunday) starting at noon Eastern.
ADDED:
Oops, today's Saturday. I just got a day ahead of myself. :duh:
But yeah, Sunday is the day for Spaceballs.

It's on DVD now for those who care.
I caught a couple of episodes back when it was on G4. Honestly, I didn't care much for it. :( While it was nice to hear Brooks back in the roles of Skroob and Yogurt, the whole thing just didn't feel genuine. I think a TV movie or direct to DVD movie would've been a better course, if they weren't going the theatrical route.
