I went to go start this thread and realized every single one has to do with either rock, or country. Or the Spice Girls, but they are their own category altogether.

If you don't like rap, that's cool. I personally listen to everything because I feel there's too much music out there not to be eclectic. But just give Lil' Wayne a try. Go to YouTube and search some of his freestyles, and you'll see why he is the best rapper alive, and one of the greatest artists out there. His punchlines, his delivery, his metaphors, all of them are just so great.

Rap is poetry, and this man is Shakespeare.

Eh, he's alright. I wouldn't say the best alive. Tha Carter, Carter 2, and most of his mixtapes have been nice. Most hip hop I listen to is older 90's, but there are a few nice ones out these days. Not all of them are well known. Wayne, Chamillionaire, Joe Budden, Lupe Fiasco, Crooked I are some of the best of the younger generation of emcee's I think. Not only them but they're at the top of my list.

I did NOT know a Lil' Wane thread existed. You rock VV! Lil' Wayne is one of the best rappers alive, not the best, but one of them. Sure there are people like Lupe Fiasco out there that has a lyrical edge over Wayne, but Weezy F keeps his lines simple and don't use complex metaphors to deliver his punchlines. If you're into rap, then definitely listen to some of his albums like The Carter (which is one of his BEST, if not THE best album) Carter 2, Dedication 2 etc. There's a ton of songs to listen to because he's made countless mixtapes.... The man is that good

Yeah I do think he's one of the best out now, I just meant that I personally prefer Lupe, Budden, and a few others over him. But every few months I go through a Wayne faze where I'll listen to tha Carter albums and a bunch of his mixtapes. Can't wait for Tha Carter 3. I also like The Block Is Hot, even though he wasn't quite as lyrical of an emcee back then. But I was really into Cash Money during that time and everything they made back then has a certain nostalgia value.

Lil Wayne is garbage. His flow sucks and always sounds the same . I'm a Joe Budden man myself.

Depending on the day either Lupe or Budden are my favorite current emcee. Mood Muzik 2 and 3 are probably the two best mixtapes ever released IMO.

I'm not a huge fan of his. I like one or two of his songs. There's just something about his style that doesn't appeal to me.

wow...lil wayne to me is pure garbage. that dude is way too full of himself...he is wack. To me, he is quite possibly the WORST rapper alive. I would take Cassidy over lil wayne any day.

I really been feeling Termanology lately. I think Ghostface had the best album last year.

i dont listen to much new hip hop...i think hip hop has went downhill. I still listen to old Wu Tang, Nas, Biggie, Mobb Deep, Gangstarr, Tribe Called Quest and Rakim albums

I don't know, when I posted this I was such in Lil Wayne mode that I had to say that he was the greatest alive because I went through so many of his mixtapes back to back. I just feel he's got a great delivery and some of his metaphors are just off the chain.

"Just call me Scrooge 'cause I'm swimmin' in bucks."

Budden, Lupe, all of them are good. And to say that Wayne is too full of himself is ridiculous because that's half the reason Kanye is good. Confidence makes all the difference in a flow.

I don't really think Kanye is that good. I think he's passable enough. But his beats carry his music to me. But you're right, I think his confidence is part of what makes him passable because lyrically he's not great. Wayne's confidence doesn't bother me, aside from the fact he calls himself the best rapper alive, which only bothers me because I disagree with it. He's a nice emcee, but I don't even feel like he's the best from the south. I think Chamillionaire is much better. Also Andre 3000, Scarface, Bun-B. But except Chamillion the rest aren't in the younger generation.

I think hip hop is in a down cycle right now. There's good shit, but much more garbage then there has ever been IMO.

i think the best years in hip hop were definitely 1992-1996...so much classic shit came out during them years.
