My Saw/Friday The 13th crossover, which has nearly finished writing, with only four chapters left to go.

My story is nearly finished, with only two chapters left to be written. Chapter 25 recently finished and will be up by Sunday.

I've only just begun reading this, but it's interesting thus far. Certainly does a thorough job of laying the groundwork for things to come.

Thanks :) I'm nearly finished writing it, Chapter 26 should be up by the end of the weekend and the Epilogue comes next. And depending on what happens in Saw IV, I might do a sequel too.

Chapter 26 is up now and stay tuned for the conclusion.

Okay, so I've been considering reading a bit of this today, Jig, but I've not seen the second SAW film as yet. Do I need to see it first, or can I follow the fiction okay without having seen it?

Jigsaw

It's very strongly recommended that you see all of the films before reading this story, as major spoilers and plot points for the first three Saw films are written throughout the story. I'm strongly recommend watching Saw II and Saw III before reading this story.

Is there anything I need to know apart from the fact that Amanda is working with Jigsaw? 'Coz I had that ruined for me ages back. It's the reason I've not watched SAW II.

Jigsaw
09-17-2007, 05:33 AM
Yes, many other things. Also, with this story being set in-between Saw II and Saw III, there's a twist leading directly into Saw III, and it works better if you've already seen Saw III.

Well then, I suppose I'll get around to reading it when I've had a chance to see the other SAW films. I'll let you know what I think once I do.

Jigsaw

Cool, thanks :)

Finally! You did an excellent with this crossover.

Jigsaw
10-05-2007, 07:37 PM
Thanks :) Have you finished reading it?

Also, the story is actually far from finished, with Saw IV coming out so soon from now, I'll update parts of this to make it gel with S4.

Jack Bauer

Yeah, I read it. Now, I could realize that Amanda could have survive plus Tobin mention that she's important to the story.

Jigsaw

I listened to that interview too. If Saw IV reveals Amanda to still be alive then a sequel to this story will definitely happen.

With Saw IV now out, some parts of the story have been slightly altered or corrected to make this story more consistant with that film.

Stay tuned for the sequel, which has a planned release date of June 13th, 2008. Of course, a Friday.

Hey Jigsaw, here's a question for you, and I'm asking you here because I think it could have an impact on your story. Do you think Amanda knew about the things that were going to happen in SAW IV, or about John's other accomplice. I would say yes to at least the latter, but I wanted to see what you think.

Jigsaw
11-23-2007, 06:04 AM
It's possible, but I doubt it for now, for a few reasons.

Saw IV spoilers ahead!

Considering Amanda's bad past with the cops, I can't see her working with the new accomplice, being that he's a cop and he could've easily given her away, and her fear of working with someone like that would be understandable. I also think John would've kept it a secret from her, being that he wanted her to succeed on her own, and to avoid arousing suspicion regarding Eric Matthews' whereabouts following the tunnel fight.

Jigsaw already knows my thoughts on this four star crossover, but I thought I'd publicly show my support. This is an extremely layered story, full of great detail and history for both the Sawverse and the Friday the 13th universe. Great Jigsaw traps, great Jason kills and characters that all have a depth and purpose, even the smallest ones.

What really makes this particular story stand out is thelove story between Jason and Amanda, it adds depth to Jason's persona to see him in such a new area of humanity, without changing his purpose.

Amanda is the real star here, her story is an emotional rollercoaster as she questions herself, John's motivations and the surprise at the end. I can't wait for the sequel! And knowing what I do about it, it will be "Empire" "Wrath of Khan" and "Dark Knight" to the story started here.

Great job Jigsaw! I've said it before and I'll say it here again, outside of James Wan, Leigh Whannell, Darren Lynn Bousman, Twisted Pictures and Tobin Bell himself, no one does SAW like you do, and you're damn good at Friday the 13th as well.

Bring on part II!

Thanks for the compliments, Dre, and I'll start writing the sequel this weekend. I don't think it'll top the original, but at the very least it'll be a worthy follow-up that'll answer more questions and provide more of what was in the original and take it in a new direction.

With the stakes higher in part II and the other surprises, I'm confident it will top the original.

No pressure. ;)

I already have most of the traps and kills in mind for R2, and they're as sick, gruesome and disturbing as you might be expecting and more. There's one kill I just know will have people retching and talking about for days. I won't mention it, but I'm sure you'll know what I mean when you read it. And just wait until you read the Prologue, it's not even the gore content in it that's weird as it is who's (or rather what) viewpoint it's written from.

R2 will be quite a different story from the original, but undeniably, it will be part of the mythos.

June 13th will be a long wait but it'll be worth it.

Keep Harry Manfredini and Charlie Clouser on your mind when writing. It tends to help me when I write and see the scenes set to music in my head.

Jigsaw
01-22-2008, 09:55 AM
I do. I listen to a lot of Charlie's scores when writing, but can't seem to find Harry's anywhere. I'll look on YouTube, though.

You can listen to Harry Manfredini's stuff (Mostly Jason Lives) at this link:

and at Harry's own website: http://www.harrymanfredini.com/audio/

I made a VERY stupid mistake I'm incredibly embarrassed about, that the main site for The Reborn II wasn't linked until now! It should be accessable right now. Also, how convenient it occurs at the one-year anniversary of it's predecessor.
