July 28: HALLOWEEN star’s next horror remake
On FANGORIA RADIO last night, HALLOWEEN remake star Scout Taylor-Compton (pictured) confirmed that she will be starring in the APRIL FOOL’S DAY update set to be written and directed by The Butcher Brothers (Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores), who made the After Dark Horrorfest sleeper THE HAMILTONS. In negotiations (according to the IMDb) to join the actress are several recent fear vets, including Jessica (HILLS HAVE EYES II) Stroup, Katheryn (AMUSEMENT) Winnick, Beau (UNEARTHED) Garrett, Corey (DECOYS) Sevier, Andrea (DARK WOLF) Bogart and DARK RIDE’s David Clayton Rogers. Original producer Frank (I KNOW WHO KILLED ME) Mancuso Jr. will encore. The first APRIL FOOL’S DAY, released by Paramount in 1986 and directed by Fred (WHEN A STRANGER CALLS) Walton, concerns a group of college kids at a secluded mansion where a practical joke-fueled party soon turns deadly. Sony Pictures will release the new FOOL’S DAY in 2009. —Tony Timpone

Maybe she'll be this generation's scream queen. Say what you want about her, she's some nice eye candy. If anything, the Halloween remake will be seeing for that reason alone.

I thought somebody already did a remake of April Fool's Day, except that they changed the name to Cry Wolf.

Are they trying to makes remakes of every horror film ever made between
1975 and 1990.
Bring on the "Critters" remake!:D

This proves it. No one has good ideas, and are mooching off previous goodies. Bunch of bull! Filmakers truly suck these days, huh?

Isn't that the one Steve Miner is directing? Is he doing the re-shoot or did he do the "shitty" one?
The Dream Master
08-29-2007, 12:12 AM
Miner was responsible for the "shitty" version.
Scab, are they simply going back in and re-shooting certain elements, or are they going the same direction that Warners did with the Exorcist prequel, meaning it's going to be almost an entirely different film with a different director?

I think he's doing both versions. I'm not sure how true this is, but the guys on Dead Pit mentioned it. They said that the finished workprint got such bad reviews at screenings that they are reshooting it. I'm not sure if it's just certain parts, or all.
It has been done for a while though.

April Fool's Day has begun Filming
Stage 6 Celebrates April Fool's Day
Source: The Hollywood ReporterOctober 19, 2007
The Butcher Bros. (Mitch Altieri, Phil Flores) have begun shooting their remake of Fred Walton's 1986 film April Fool's Day.
Josh Henderson ("Desperate Housewives") and Taylor Cole star as rich siblings who throw a bash for their pal, played by Halloween's Scout Taylor-Compton. An accident, however, sets off a chain of events tha leave a high body count.
Sony's Stage 6 will distribute. The Butchers penned the script with Mikey Wigart. "It's pretty much contemporized, with off-beat humor, different settings - something that would jell with today's audience," says Flores.

It doesn't sound like a straight remake, that's good. It will be different. They have too, because the twist is known now.
I hope the "kills" will look better and more credible than in the original.
And yes, I know in the original there wasn't any real murder, but that made the movie feel censored each time.
I don't know how it will turn out, but I hope it will be better handled (even if the original had good characters, the direction wasn't that good)

If the movie is shit to begin with, all the gore in the world isn't gonna make it gold. I would rather have a PG-13 movie such as the Prom Night remake and have it be a good movie WITHOUT all the gore than have a shitty movie with no story and loads of gore. There's no point in that.

And I didn't know you thought about me one way or another to begin with.
Did I say I didn't like gore? I like gore in movies when it calls for it....not when it is present just to be there. If the movie is shit to begin with, all the gore in the world isn't gonna make it gold. I would rather have a PG-13 movie such as the Prom Night remake and have it be a good movie WITHOUT all the gore than have a shitty movie with no story and loads of gore. There's no point in that.
cant be botherd to read all that.:duh:

This re-make could potentially be filed away under "V" , as in Very Shitty , along with other re-makes suchas Black Christmas and The Fog.
If the trailer is poor (as this one certainly is) you can only imagine how bad the movie will probably be.
I think i will wait for a year or so , then buy it on e-bay for a couple of quid.

i think it means as in Very funny. and Black Christmas is a good example of what a remake can be like.

no, not really. since that if you look at the trailer for Scream, that was a very shitty trailer and that was alright. same as most trailers. it doesn't mean a thing

I thought the trailer for Scream was pretty sweet, and lead us to a sweet film in turn. This April Fool's trailer is as flat as a feminist Barbie doll.:meh:

I don't think it's even using any of the characters, the only similar things in the trailer are that they're well off and a guy holds a camera at one point.
It's just another movie titled April Fool's Day.
Agreed. If they don't at least use the same twist (in one way or another), I don't see how this could be considered a remake.
I think it's more or less a remake in title only like the Prom Night remake.

i didn't want to believe what everyone was sayin' about this but this was really crap. this goes right to the bottom of the Remake list with The Fog.
it had somethings going for it but very bad things going againist it. although the prank beats the original prank. 2.5/5
ADDED: i changed my mind i rewatched it last night, and loved it. although i dont really see why this is "unrated".

Sorry, I DL shit all the time. In fact I Dled like 250 albums (105 George Jones, 67 Waylon Jennings, 33 Merle Haggard, 56 Cash and so on). Its illegal but so is a lot of shit we do and don't think twice about. My theory is if it's there for the taking, take it. :D
I DL shit and if I like it I buy it unless it's not available (like 75% of those aforementioned albums).
As for this movie, if I'd DL it and liked it I'd buy the DVD because I am a completest like that. I'd probably even buy it if it sucked.

No, it's illegal. If you went into the store and took it off the shelf without paying, I don't think the manager would say he was "sharing" it with you. Downloading is illegal, folks. Alot of work goes into making films (even the shitty ones), and it's not your right to just take it without paying for it.

Actually correct me if I am wrong, it's not illegal to DL it's illegal to make the files available for download?
Because all we know is that the files are not under any copyright. I.E., available for free download by the band- like Ween, for instance, they make their files available for download for free.
Anyways let's get off this subject.
The Dream Master
03-17-2008, 09:58 PM
Downloading is illegal, too. If an artist puts it out something themselves and says it's okay, that's a different story. The whole point is that downloading something is a copyright infringement because whoever uploads it is illegally distributing something they don't own. It's just like the FBI warning at the beginning of DVDs and VHS tapes: you're not allowed to make copies and distriubute them. Anyone in possession of it would be complicit too.
But that's all I'm going to say about. Let's get back to discussing April Fool's Day.

Here's the deal guys - I've asked politely, now I'm not going to be nice anymore.
Down - right - period: Yes - It's illegal to download movies. There's nothing more that needs to be said as far as debates go about it, so there doesn't need to be any more discussion on it.
For the last time - Let's keep the talk on the movie. If you don't have anything else to say about it, great. Don't post about it or argue about legalities here. PM each other.

I picked this up today despite the poor reviews. Wow even worse! This is by far one of the worst movies I hjave ever seen and worst remake I've seen. Pahtetic. I'm amazed how bad it was. The Butcher brothers lived up to their name.
The lowest I rate a movie is normally 3/10. This travesty gets a 1/10. I'm in shock how bad it was. Makes the Fog look classic.

I passed it in my local Blockbuster yesterday. I passed it and instead moved immediately to 8 Films to Die For. I didn't get anything cause I got a phone call and had to leave, but if I can manage to rent this without having to actually pay for it (IE the free rental program), I'll watch it - Can't be any worse than the original... and I'm sorry but the original was... Crap.
However - If I must pay the 3.50 for the rental - I won't be out too much money.

I'm beginning to notice a connection. Out of all these remakes, not a single one of them has jack shit to do with the original, which is really starting to irritate me. Black Christmas, Prom Night, the upcoming Silent Night, Deadly Night remake, and now April Fool's Day.

I haven't seen this yet. And as much as I like these types of films, I think I will have to wait to buy this one. Maybe I can get it before long at Blockbuster for a few bucks. I don't wanna pay full price for standard dvd's nowadays....especially with wanting to add to my Blu-ray collection. I mean, Prom Night II was $9.99. That's a reasonable price. But $20 for a standard dvd....nah.
