Night of the Demons 2 finally hits DVD on September 25th. Been waiting for this one for a long time.

I got the third one in a set with another film, and it was very entertaining. Cheesy, but fun. Too bad the 'trailer' was basically the whole plot spoilt.

I remember watching Night of the Demons at a friends house. We rented it from Blockbuster and we all watched it, and I loved it. Then when it hit dvd I got excited and bought it right away, and when I watched it a second time, I did not like it at all.

Lambardo Bava's Demons movies on the other hand, now those are great movies.

I have all 3 on DVD. I hope this release has better extras than the imports that I have. I love all 2 of them but Part 1 is classic with classic one liners!

Eat a bowl of fuck and shit like that. Can't forget Linnea's scene where she pushes her lipstick into her boob.

I have the first one. It was a riot. 6.5/10. I have been hoping to get NotD2 for a while, (nostalgic reasons.)

I really enjoyed these films. Part 1 is my favorite out of them though. To me it was just far better than parts 2 and 3.

Take care and God bless.

I've been thinkin' about pulling out my old part 2 VHS and checking it out for a while now but haven't gotten around to it. I remember really liking it. Never got to see Part 3 though. Maybe it'll make it's way to disc soon after?

I always found it funny how Part 3 came to DVD first. And now, we have Part 1 and 3...but the missing link was never found...until now! Hooray! Part 2 looks like fun!

Joshg

It's on DVD in Canada. I'm never sure about the US. Always thought that Canada and the US have basically the same open-ends when it comes to DVDed films. Well, Canada has the American DVD releases. But when it comes to USA having Canadian DVDs, I guess I was never really clear.

Anyways, want a NotD3 DVD? Go to Wal-Mart in Canada around Halloween time. Plenty there! :)

I LOVE the Night of the Demons series. The original is one of my favorite late 80's splatter flicks.

Another one I completely forgot about. Hmm, I'll look for Part 2 as well. Then I'll have my NotD trilogy complete on DVD!

Oh yeah! I forget to report back. I bought the Night of the Demons 3 DVD, not too long ago.

It was released in 2004, is barebones (:(), and was released by SEVILLE, which is a thingy in WARNER BROTHERS. Kind of like how Shriek Show is in Media Blasters. Anywho...I think I just got an idea of what to watch tonight! Hooray!

PS, on the NotD3 cover, there's Angela with purple hair, her classic teeth, and she's holding a glass with some blue liquid in it, and two eyeballs on her straws. I'll search for picture.

Haha, ah I remember that film.

It was a total cheese fest. Silly deaths and a fucking STUPID ending. "I'll come back every year until the demons have been stopped!" etc, but an enjoyable waste of 90 minutes.

The first 2 are great, some of the best independent horror films ever.

The third one...not so much, but Angela still makes it worth it.

I saw one of these movies back in the early 90's...can't remember which one...i think it was # 2.

I did quite enjoy it if i remember. They tell me the first 2 are good but the 3rd is pants....would you agree with this.

I can't seem to get hold of these films individually on Region 2, but you can get hold of them on e-bay as a collection for around £15.

One of my favourite horror trilogies. I like NOTD 2 the best followed by the first then the third. I own all three on DVD. The new NOTD 2 could've been so much better but I'm not really complaining because it's better than no DVD at all.

My favorite part of Part 1 is the very end, the apple pie incident. As a kid I only caught that very last part when it was on HBO... and for YEARS (1994) I had no clue what it was from until I bought NOTD.

That image stuck in my head until then.

Lance Lives
02-26-2008, 07:24 PM
I thought that that scene and the scene from Halloween 2 with the kid and the apple were quite disturbing when I was younger. I never was offered one, but if I had been offered an apple at Halloween you could bet your ass I wouldn't have ate it.

well it's less than 12 bucks per disc, plus shipping. It's worth it if you want them. However, you can get 1 and 2 on R1 DVD for cheaper and then get a R2 3.

At current exchange rate, probably about $22.

I must stress that the trilogy boxset on e-bay is Region 2, so you would need a multi region dvd player to be able to watch it , Lance.

It is a hard set of films to get hold of in the UK. The dvd i won on e-bay is from Germany, where its a lot easier to find (there's loads available on e-bay from Germany). That said you would probably have to pay another £20 or so for the shipping to the US.

Lance Lives
03-24-2008, 12:00 AM

If you watch imports on your PC, download a media player called VLC Media Player. It's what I used before I bought my cheapo DVD player. It ignores region encoding or something. I used it when I first got my region 2 Phantasm Sphere set.

Lance Lives
03-24-2008, 02:07 AM
That's a set that I really want. When I first saw Battle Royale it wasn't Region 1 so I had to watch it on my friend's computer but I really hate to do that, just something about computer monitors that don't set well with me when watching movies.

Good to know. I know theres a way to crack the player I use on my laptop (Win DVD Plat 8) but I love this program, it's really expensive but if you take screen caps, clips of the movie or watch it's worth it. It's nice to be able to take clips from the movie with the program as you watch it.

The first one is absolutely badass, it's one of my favorite movies of all time. Not only does it feature some awesome gore (the bitten off tongue and the razor apple scene come to mind) and creepy atmosphere, it's funny as hell too! I don't have the DVD, but I have the old unrated VHS. That's a movie I can watch voer and over again. I got it with the 2nd one... the 2nd one was ok, but I didn't like it near as much as the first. Although the gore and makeup effects are still pretty sweet in that one. I've yet to see the 3rd one, I've heard good and bad things about it.

Zoe Trilling is the dark-haired "bitch" of the group. Hot as hell though.

The CGI in NOTD 3 isn't a whole lot. It's mostly morphing effects & they're brief. It has some nice gore & cheesy effects that easily outweigh the CGI.

I dug part 3. It was actually better than I was expecting. I wish they could've used the original Hull House though, the new one really didn't fit as good. Angela was lookin' good as always though, and there was a lot of nice looking gals to peep at.

I have to say though, I get the BIGGEST feeling that Kevin Tenney watched Reservoir Dogs and Full Metal Jacket before or during the writing of this script.

Can anybody tell me what happens between the part where the virgin girl is about to be chased by the demon cop and the part where she apparently walks back through the water barrier? My tape like skipped that part, it was weird.

Just watched this film for the first tiem last night, and it was pretty cool. Seemed a rift on Evil Dead and Demons but worked well enough. The zombie-possessed people were cool. Avoided some cliches with nice twists with Rodge rurviving, the boyfriend and other guy not making it.

The acse made it sound like "Angela" was in some way scary, but she was just another teenager, a bit of a stereotype eighties goth, posessed like the others but didn't really bother me. Cool film overall.

I guess this film was like a clash of The Evil Dead and Demons, but sadly it is nowhere near as good as either film.

I have fond memories of this film though. I remember when I was in 7th grade, me and a bunch of people went over our friend Diana's house and decided to rent it because we all loved horror films and the front cover looked cool. We ordered pizzas and dipped into her parents' wine collection and had a good time. :D

The movie was a blast. It was fun. We all laughed at the special effects. It was one of those popcorn film with sensless nudity and jump scare scenes and medeocre special effects.

I reciently re-watched it after purchasing it on dvd and I have got to say, I think I enjoyed the wine a hell of a lot more then the movie, because that movie did nothing for me the second time I watch it.

I guess this film was like a clash of The Evil Dead and Demons, but sadly it is nowhere near as good as either film.

I actually find the first two NOTD films far more entertaining than any of the Evil Dead movies.

"So they bring Angela back? didn't even know there were sequels! Seems a bit odd picking on Angela, she wasn't really any more important than the rest in Part 1."

She always seemed like the leader of the pack, she basically commands the rest of them toward the end.

Well, here are my reviews for "Night of the Demons" (http://pellecreepy.blogspot.com/2008/02/night-of-demons-1988.html) and "Night of the Demons 2" (http://pellecreepy.blogspot.com/2008/02/night-of-demons-2-1994.html). I haven't seen "Night of the Demons 3" in almost ten years, so I can't safely comment on that one.

Perhaps my grade of D+ is a little harsh for both films. I mean, there are parts of both movies that I think are really, really cool. But the parts that annoy me...Christ, they really annoy me.

I would agree, but I think the character still worked. There are alot of people that age that really act just like that, I've met more than a few myself.

Performance-wise, I don't think he was one of the worst. The girl playing Judy has reactions that are just so damn forced sometimes, it couldn't be much more obvious that she were acting, and the guy playing Jay looked like he was half asleep the whole movie and mindlessly drones through his lines...and the old man simulating that choking to death at the end, cripes.

Mimi Kincaid and the rest of the cast did fine.

His wife's cameo is better. Just think, if he's yelling at Judy for helping him, how he treats his wife. She had this planned for a while, lol.

That being said, I LOVE this movie. Even all the characters, and actors. Only one that ever bothered me was Helen, found her annoying. Part of the films charm , for me, is the 80's feel to it. The first time i saw this, when it was first released, back in the late 80s, i really wasn't overly impressed...these days , i think its great. But i guess i look for a bit more in a film these days.

The movie reminds me of the whole goth movement that started (well started before this, but got popular) in the 80's and continuted past 1996... eing a part of that subculture for many years I dunno... it always reminded me of it.

Why? because Angela is a really stereotypical goth character? :p Although, at least she's only possessed and not actually evil herself, so it's not TOO cliche. Still, it's certainly oif itsd time and the goth movement was becoming more recognised, and certainly Hellraiser in 1987 was important in raising the prog#file of several subcultures.

There's a short docu on the making of Hank's new CD where he is now praising Curb for letting him do what he wanted on the new CD. I think Curb should either do a metal alum for him, even though they are a country label or maybe WB would let another sister company release it. Warner Brothers owns Curb, right?

I haven't seen Part 3 since it first came out on VHS, but I recall liking it more than Part 2 because it went back to the haunted house gimmick.

Part 2, if there was any one thing about it that bugged me, was that they left the house and went to that college. The haunted house set-up was one of the better things about the original, so I wasn't really happy that they bucked it.

But my memories of Part 3 are a bit hazy, to be honest. All I vividly recall is a chick with a handpuppet that turns evil. Or something.

I had a bug the other day to watch 3. I dug through my tape collection, and found it.

It's a little worse than I remember. Some of the acting and dialogue is truly wretched. Back when I originally watched this movie, I didn't really notice bad acting and dialogue the way I do now. So back then, I just took it as an average movie. Now, some the acting and dialogue make it a little worse.

I guess it's worth watching for the nudity and that great, weird gun scene.

I watched the first two films yesterday. I really do love watching them around this time of year, especially the first. Both are set on Halloween obviously but the first gives off this great Halloween vibe although I like the second movie a tad better. The second is sillier & the first is just plain creepier.

I like the third, which I may watch later, but it's not as good as the first two. It's entertaining & has some good parts but is just weak in comparison to the previous films.

Z-Boy from NOTD 2 still annoys me, especially when he's in demon form. He sounds like an insane ape or something with his curly bowl haircut pulled back into a ponytail & his bangs hanging down like the early 1990s rebel that he is.

Apocalypto
10-18-2009, 09:23 PM
The remake definitely looks to be mixing it up a bit.

From the early reviews, the story invovles the demons that occupy the new house trying to take over the entire world with a flood of demons if they can inhabit a certain amount of human bodies on Halloween night...which isn't from the original film at all.

Really hoping it doesn't get bumped back any further than February, if it does I fear it'll end up getting knocked around all over the place and eventually go dtv.

The first two are two of my favorite "fun" horror films, the third is a weak link, but atleast Angela still felt like Angela in it, she was as good of a villain as she was in the first two, unlike some other franchises where not only did the films go downhill but they even ruined the villain (ANOES 5 and Freddy's Dead come to mind).

If you like those, check out Tenney's Witchtrap. It's got Linnea Quigley, quite a bit of gore and an absolutely insane ass plot. It's so cheesy and hilarious. The protagonist is an ex-cop turned security guard named Tony Vincente who is a cheesy Ash-like character.
