In the mid-eighties there was a toyline from Hasbro called the INHUMANOIDS. Basically the plotline to this story was that three monstrous creatures called the Inhumanoids, after hundreds, if not thousands of years of imprisionment, were freed to terrorize the surface world. A group of researchers, Earth Corps, and another race of beings. The sentient plants called Redwoods, and stone creatures known as the Granites, who had stopped the Inhumanoids before, joined forces with Earth Corps. However, despite the rather cool, and rather dark take the toyline took. It didn't go over as well as Hasbro's other toylines, G.I. Joe and the TRANSFORMERS, and thus only lasted about a year. But they still have a bit of a fan following.
Unfortunately the powers that be at Hasbro have yet to revive the Evil That Lies Within as of yet. And it seemed to have missed the brief 80's revival earlier this decade.:misery: Anyway I found these costume made figures of the INHUMANOIDS (http://el-macho-muchacho.deviantart.com/art/Inhumanoids-Group-Shot-129650251). Made by the very talented El Macho Muchacho. Nicely updated for the 21st century.
