Megan Fox to Star in Hack/Slash?
Source: ShockTillYouDrop.com July 27, 2007
ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that Transformers star Megan Fox is "incredibly interested" in the role of Cassie Hack in Rogue Pictures' Hack/Slash. Based on the horror comic book series, the film will be written and directed by Todd Lincoln, and produced by Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter. "Hack/Slash," created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, chronicles the adventures of Hack, a young woman who travels to small towns across the country hunting slashers.
I love Hack/Slash but I'm not jumping at this possible casting. Fox was okay in Transformers but I wouldn't trust her to carry a possible new franchise like this. I'm sure there are better suited candidates out there for Cassie Hack.

You guys act like she'd need range to play this part.
Just look angry, kill slashers and spout one-liners, its not that hard.

Have you seen Hope and Faith?
...or Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen with Lohan (Don't ask how I saw it, let's just say there are compromises to be made in relationships.) Fox is good at playing a bitch but sometimes you don't need acting skills for that.
I just don't see her as Cassie Hack.

The only thing I've seen her in was Transformers.
I just think the only requirement for playing Cassie is to look hot.
Kidding.
However, it seems to me you guys are saying that she cant even do this:

I'm not a huge fan of Megan Fox, but I think she would be fine as Cassie.
I'm more worried about how they will handle Vlad in the film.

they're making a movie about a member of the forum:o, lucky bastard
Appearance wise, Megan Fox does pretty much seem to be Cassie Hack in the flesh. I don't know anything about her acting skills/presence, though.
I just wish they'd pull it together and get this movie made already.

I've never read the book, and I've only seen the Eye Candy in Transformers, but as Cody says, Fox looks very similar to Cassie Hack (who, based on the descriptions I've read, appears to be a Faith clone. Which came first, Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Hack/Slash?)
Speaking of Faith, I wouldn't mind seeing Eliza Dushku play Cassie Hack. I'd be there regardless of whether or not the film ends up being a piece of trash.

Buffy came first. Hack/Slash started after Buffy was over (if my memory is right).

HACK/SLASH creator, Tim Seeley, according to him, saw the Kristy Swanson flick, but never saw the series. He said that if he did it might've affected him even doing it. Seeley came up with the idea for Cassie and Vlad while watching a Halloween Horror Movie Marathon while under the weather with the flu. Its been one of my favorite books in my comic collection. I highly recommend the book ,and heck , even started a thread on the book. (http://www.f13-community.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=1155)
On the casting of Megan Fox. While she does have the look of Cassandra Hack down to a tee, and I loved her and TRANSFORMERS to no end. I do have some doubts about her ability to carry a possible franchise like this. Although to tell the truth I'm a bit stumped as to who the brains behind the flick could get to play the Slayer of Slashers. Although I have heard a few good recommendations for Vlad. Tim Seeley himself thought Kevin Grevioux(UNDERWORLD) had both the stature and voice for the role. Rumor had it that Micheal Clarke Duncan was in strong consideration for the part. Hopefully we'll be seeing more on this project in the near future.

I actually hope this movie is done right and whoever they pick for Cassie stays more than one movie. I will hate to see a new Cassie every film (if it does good enough for a sequel).
Rogue taps Justin Marks for 'Hack/Slash' (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3id751287ff1c2313e7f2de62f4940ce35)
Justin Marks has been enlisted for writing duties on "Hack/Slash," Rogue's adaptation of a cult horror comic book.
Music video director Todd Lincoln is on board to helm the project, which is being produced by Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter.
"Hack/Slash," created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who travels to small towns across the country hunting slashers in the vein of "Halloween's" Michael Myers, "Friday the 13th's" Jason Voorhees and "A Nightmare on Elm Street's" Freddy Krueger. She is partnered on her journey with Vlad, a hulking companion who serves as her protector.
Lincoln wrote the initial draft with Martin Schenk. Ben Magid also worked on the script.
Howard Sun is co-producing.
Marks has carved a niche for himself writing franchise and geek projects. He is writing "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" for Warner Bros. and Silver, based on the 1980s Mattel toy, and bringing DC Comics hero Green Arrow to the big screen with "Green Arrow: Escape From Supermax," also at Warners. He wrote the video game adaptation "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li," now in production at Fox.

I haven't read any of the Hack/Slash comics, but the news of Megan Fox doesn't make me particularly excited for the film, as I thought Fox was pretty terrible in Transformers and not even that attractive to boot. Eliza Dushku would be worlds better.
I've read a couple Hack/Slash comics. They're OK.
It'll be interesting to see a movie based on it but I can see it coming off as really generic, as that's how the comic comes off IMO.
I remember hearing about the film rights being picked a long time ago, then nothing. I began wondering if it was ever going to happen.

I agree 100%. I just don't think she's all...that, as an actress or otherwise (Sorry Jack) I think Eliza would work, or even some unknown. But, I'll still see the movie.
Tiffany Shepis also matches the character's looks and attitude, but unfortunately I don't see her landing the lead in a theatrical, possible Universal franchise-starter.

I don't see the appeal Megan has, she lacks talent and isn't even that attractive to boot, IMO. In a lot of pictures of her, she looks like a baked potato with that overdone tan she has.

Blame Michael Bay. That's what I always do. But I still like her anyway, she has great appeal.
And even if Fox was in it, I would still see the film. Of course if the rumor of Michael Clarke Duncan being the hulking figure of Vlad, it would be awesome. I'll see a film as long it has an appeal with its actors, writing, and direction.

LAID TO REST killer ready to HACK/SLASH on screen (http://fangoria.com/home/news/9-film-news/1272-laid-to-rest-killer-ready-to-hackslash-on-screen.html)
In the course of talking to actor Nick Principe about his role as the murderous ChromeSkull in Robert Hall’s LAID TO REST, Fango learned about another killer role he’s landed. Principe will be a part of HACK/SLASH, director/co-writer Todd Lincoln’s adaptation of Tim Seeley’s popular comic book.
“As of right now, I’m playing the lead slasher out of four or five, with the possibility of playing another,” he tells us. “I can’t tell you his name or stats just yet, but he will be his own character, not based on anyone from the comic. He was completely developed by me and Todd Lincoln, including one of the craziest backstories ever for a killer. It’s the biggest-budget slasher flick I’ve ever heard of, so a lot of the details as far as who will play Cassie Hack and Vlad are super-hush-hush—but it’s between three very high-profile actors.”
Published by Devil’s Due, the HACK/SLASH comic follows young heroine Cassie and her hulking sidekick Vlad as they travel the country, taking out assorted movie-inspired madmen; you can find out more about it at Devil’s Due’s site here (http://devilsdue.net/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=22&Itemid=53&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53). Rogue Pictures will produce and release the film; we’ll keep you updated on its progress as we find out more. You can read our cover story on LAID TO REST, coming April 21 on DVD from Anchor Bay, in Fango #282, on sale in March.

Looks like there be some problems with the flick. The director, according to those undersexed blokes at Arrow In The Head.com (http://www.joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=17437), and Variety, Todd Lincoln, is out. Now helming the project is commercial director Fredrick Bond at year's end. Gee I wonder what happened with Lincoln, the bloke seemed really stoked for it ?

From Arrow In The Head.com: (http://www.joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=19351). Screenwriter Steven Susco(TCM 3D) is now taking a shot at the script.

It painfully saddens me to see Stephen Susco taking a jab at Hack/Slash. I've read lots of unproduced/currently in production scripts from him. Terrible writer. I groaned when I heard he was writing the new 3D Texas Chainsaw Massacre film (which also disgusts me, but that's for a different thread, haha). It's a shame. I actually had a draft of Hack/Slash that was written by Todd Lincoln, and it was damn good. I definitely felt like I was reading a script to one of the comics rather than for the film. Very faithful. It really would have been cool to see. But now that he's off the project, I really don't have any high expectations. Especially with Susco penning it. Why, oh why?

Nothing news wise on the flick. But I was watching TWILIGHT on the Movie Channel when I saw the one member of the Cullen family, Issabelle, played by Ashley Greene. And I was thinking she might make a pretty good Cassandra Hack. Interesting suggestion ? :shifty:As shown in the two photos here.

Dani's my number one pick. She's great, and she's become quite a Scream Queen. Hopefully she gets the role. She's such a better pick than Megan Fox.... but then, anyone is, in my opinion, at least.

Well, there goes that. Interesting read.
'Conan' Director Marcus Nispel Takes On Horror-Action Movie 'Hack/Slash' (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/conan-marcus-nispel-hack-slash-281538)
Marcus Nispel, who directed last summer's Conan the Barbarian, has come aboard to helm Hack/Slash, Relativity’s adaptation of a horror-action comic book.
Alexandra Milchan, Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter are producing.
Hack/Slash, created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who symbolizes the cliché of the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. In this case, the girl not only survived but has become a killer of killers. Hack travels across the country hunting slashers in the vein of Halloween's Michael Myers, Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees and A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger, along with a hulking protector named Vlad.
The project has seen several writers and directors come and go since it first was set up at Universal’s now-deceased genre division Rogue Pictures, which later was acquired by Relativity.
Nispel briefly flirted with the project, which last had Fredrik Bond attached, but came back to it late last year.
Nispel is well known in the hacking-and-slashing business. On top of Conan, the commercials-turned-feature helmer directed the recent remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th as well as a Viking movie titled Pathfinder.
The WME-repped director is also developing a horror movie called Backmask.
The only thing I'll remember Megan Fox for in the long run are those pictures of her playing with her boyfriend's dick in public.
 at me googling 'Megan Fox playing with her boyfriends dick'

I'm glad to see this finally moving forward again. However, the choice for director , Nispel leaves me a little cold. I enjoyed his Friday The 13th remake, haven't seen TCM in its entirety. Never heard anything good about Pathfinder. Things were 50/50 from what I've heard involving Conan. But I was rather disappointed with his directing of Dean Koontz's take on Frankenstein ,which was a pilot for a TV show on USA. My personal choice for helming this flick would've been Patrick Lussier. The man has a love for the genre ,and it shows in his work. I'm taking a bit of a wait ,and see attitude ,and see what develops.
