I figure that we can include discussion of all his work, Soundgarden, Temple Of the Dog, Audioslave & his 3 solo albums (Euphoria Morning, Carry On, Scream). I think Chris has a very unique voice & I'm a fan of Soundgarden & Audioslave. His Carry On album was good and Scream has started to grow on me.
Any Cornell fans enjoy or at least listen to Scream? It's very different, but the more I listen to it the more I like it... The way I look at it is he may be working with a rap producer (Timbaland, honestly I've never heard of him before this) but at least he ain't rappin', so it could be worse. The title track from Scream has a relaxing feel to it, to me at least. For the record Audioslave's albums are better than Scream but it's not all that bad.

I will always love his work with Soundgarden, as I was terribly disappointed when I heard that they had broken up.
Audioslave was pretty good to a certain degree, only because of Tom Morello. Side Note: Give Street Sweeper Social Club a listen, they're AMAZING.
I cannot stand any of this solo work. It's terrible.
I can only say one thing that I personally think of Cornell...he's a douche.

I liked some of his solo work but Soundgarden is the best thing he's ever done. Such a great band.

I love him too, however the old Soundgarden (Ultramega, Louder Than Love, Badmotorfinger) was his best music.

I'm not in any way a fan of Chris, but I do admire him, for having somewhat of a "Godfather" tag in the world of grunge, much like Ronnie James Dio for metal, I mean I don't think any of Chris' music has ever sucked it's just not my type, but as I said, I completely admire the guy

I've never been a huge fan of Chris Cornell's solo work. I liked his Soundgarden work and I still listen to Audioslave's debut CD from beginning to end still to this day.

I liked his first solo album, Euphoria Morning, but the rest of the solo stuff, forget it.
Soundgarden is definitely one of my top bands ever though. I think their last album was absolutely amazing--it was quite a way to go out.

Soundgarden was one of those pivitol bands that played a part in my conversion from country at a young age into rock. I've always thought Cornell has a great voice, and he writes very well...
However, I haven't heard any of his solo stuff until Scream. I'm really partial to the song "Climbing the Walls." Great song.
Audioslave was great because of Morello. I think he is the greatest guitarist of his time. (So no, I'm not bagging on Hendricks or Page or anyone else.)

I like Morello and think he's a very creative and unique guitarist, but I don't think he's the best player of this time. I can think of a few more, with one of them actually being Cornell's bandmate in Soundgarden (Kim Thayil). I also think Billy Corgan is a hugely underrated guitarist.
Also forgot to mention that Temple of the Dog's lone album is one of my favorite ever.

Kim Thayil is awesome. I'm also quite fond of Matt Cameron, the drummer for Soundgarden. He's been drumming for Pearl Jam for quite some time.

Yep, for over ten years now. Hard to believe how time flies. But yeah, Cameron is probably one of the more underrated drummers of his day, I'd say.

Wow I completely forgot about Temple of the Dog! Great CD there too!

Temple are great, I agree. TOTD's album was recorded before Badmotorfinger, before Pearl Jam's Ten... released (that release is worth money) and went nowhere. When BMF and Ten skyrocketed it was re-released and sold boku thanks to "Hungerstrike".
However, Say Hello To Heaven was a much better song... a tribute to Andy Wood.
Times Of Trouble from the album has the same music from a Pearl Jam song Footsteps, which Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament wrote before meeting Eddie Vedder... so in a way, TOTD did the song before Pearl Jam... both songs are great though.

Yeah, the music for "Times of Trouble"/"Footsteps" was on the tape that Gossard/Ament sent to Vedder when they were recruiting him. Both are damn good songs.
My favorite TOTD song is "All Night Thing."

It's Official: SOUNDGARDEN To Reunite - Jan. 1, 2010 (http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=132774&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blabbermouth+%28Blabbermouth. net%27s+Daily+Headlines%29&utm_content=Twitter)
Singer Chris Cornell's (SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE) official web site has been updated with the following message:
"The 12-year break is over and school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!"
To sign up, go to www.soundgardenworld.com.
Cornell told RollingStone.com in a July 2009 interview that while he and other former members of SOUNDGARDEN have been talking, they have not been discussing a much-rumored reunion. Instead, Cornell explained, "The only thing that we have talked about is trying to put together an album of B-sides and maybe a box set with some unreleased tracks we have. This is something we first talked about 10 years ago. We all feel it's time to do that, and we have a lot of fans out there, and we have a lot of new fans discovering our music, and I think the catalog and the legacy of the band has been ignored by the record label and previous management, so we decided to get together, and start working towards putting something like that out."
Cornell told The Pulse of Radio a while back that he hoped to see a collection of SOUNDGARDEN rarities come out, but that he was not directly involved. "I've sort of left that in Kim (Thayil, guitarist)'s world, because Kim had always talked about wanting to be in charge of doing, like, a box set or a B-sides album," he said. "That was something that he had mentioned years ago, and I'm sure at some point he will want to do it, and that's I guess when it'll get done. I don't know how much actual unreleased stuff is out there, but there's definitely some SOUNDGARDEN rarities stuff that the average fan has not heard and it would be nice to put out."
SOUNDGARDEN recorded a large amount of B-sides, including cover songs and original tracks, that were mostly released on European singles and EPs. Many of them are now difficult to find.
Cornell denied to RollingStone.com that the band would reunite for a tour in 2010, but left the door open, saying, "I've always said nothing is impossible . . . I want to be open to anything, but nothing has changed in terms of our attitude toward it. It takes somebody to really stand up and say, 'We should do this, we have to go do this, let's go do this,' and so far, no one has raised their hand to do that. Still, it's not impossible."
SOUNDGARDEN broke up in 1997 after five albums, but rumors started swirling early last year about a reunion, with one source telling The Pulse of Radio directly that negotiations were underway.
Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron did stage a partial reunion at a March 2009 Tom Morello show in Seattle, playing a handful of SOUNDGARDEN songs with Tad Doyle singing.
Cornell had been touring in support of his 2008 Timbaland-produced solo album, "Scream", which has bitterly divided fans over its urban pop sound.
Fuck yes. Hopefully we'll end up getting a new album & a tour!

Their first show is actually in Seattle tonight, it's a secret show. The only people who know of this are those who got e-mail's today to buy tickets.
They're playing a wicked small club under the pseudonym "Nudedragons." There was a secret code to enter at ticketmaster and everything. So, you know there's gonna be a shit ton of videos on YouTube by tomorrow, Monday the latest, so I'm excited to see how they sound.
That's why, although excited, I didn't really do backflips over the idea of it. Just because they could sound tight as shit live, but cornell's voice, that is key. That pretty much is the band,
those notes.

I am a fan of Soundgarden (own Badmotorfinger and Superunknown along with a best of called A Sides). Audioslave is OK. Never listened to Cornell's solo work.
He does a kick ass solo version of Ave Maria.
