I love these movies. They're so cute and cuddly....:D

No seriously though, these movies are pretty cool. I heard last year on Bloddy-Disgusting that new Line Cinema was planning to shoot (or was thinking about it) Critters 5 & 6 back to back...I assume for DTV releases.

I haven't heard anything else about it at all thought. Bummer, I was looking forward to more of them and I was hoping they would go back to the fell of the firsy 2 movies with the settings being in the small country towns. I like that in movies.

I have only seen small parts from a few of them. It seemed pretty cool. Are these movies any good? Which ones are the best?

The first two are great, while the second two aren't as good. Still if you see the first two and enjoy them, you should like three and four.

Holy shit, I was about to make this thread the other day but forgot to. I watched part 1 the other day and it brought back such good memories. It truely is one my most cherished films of my childhood. I don't really think any of them live up to the awesomeness of the first.

Favorite part: When the critter eats the firecracker in the barn. Damn, that's so cute.

I also loved this series. Contrary to all the flack it gets, I enjoyed Critters 3. I'm a sucker for films in large urban areas (Jason Takes Manhattan fan right here), so that setting just clicked with me. Critters 1 and 2 were equally awesome movies too. I remember the teaser poster art for the original.:The battle began in another galaxy. It's about to end in the Brown's backyard. The bounty hunters were always my favorite parts of these films, just because they were so kick ass! I also enjoyed seeing the New Line nod in Critters 2 with the hunter bumping into the Freddy's Revenge promotional standee.

I think I'm gonna have to pick up the original Critters along with a few other movies, next time I go to best buy. If I like it, I'll buy the other 3 Critters movies also.

I always loved the first two... great movies! Especially when I was a kid... fun movies! I also liked the 3 and 4 a little bit, but they couldn't match the first two.

I watched Critters 3 a few months back, and I didn't really enjoy it that much. That movie was such a cliché.

I love the first 2. 3 and 4 weren't that good, IMO.

Leonardo DiCaprio made his film debut in Critters 3, haha. :p What's funny about 4 is the fact that the Critters are from Outer space. The movie took place in Outer space, yet it ended up not working very well.

Also, what was up with Billy Zanes pony-tail in the original. The rest of his hair was really short, but he had that little pony-tail. I thought it look ridiculous. :p

Billy Zane rat tail dude! I felt sorry for him. Poor dude was just trying to enjoy some country dinner and ended up dying in a barn full of hay which he was allergic to.

I have only seen the first two. They were fun.

Miguel A Nunez (Demon from ANB) was in Part 4, heh. That movie blew.

Miguel is like a franchise sequel whore. He was also in Carnosaur 2.

Holy fuck, I'd forgotten all about that, Scab. I'm going to have to buy Critters 4 now (I have the first two on DVD, but never got around to buying 3 and 4).

I always liked Nunez in ROTLD, too.

He also had a small part in Harlem Nights, Street Fighter, Life and Nutty Professor 2.

And It may be my bad. He may have been in Leprechaun 4: Leprechaun In Space. Haha, I get the 2 turds mixed up.

The Dream Master

I checked IMDB, and it was Leprechaun 4. Either way, I didn't remember either because it's been so long since I've seen either.

Yeah, I liked him in ROTLD as well. Great flick. :)

scab - I didn't know he was in Street Fighter. Do you remember what character he played? I haven't seen that movie in a long time.....basically because it was a huge turd, haha.

His best role has to ROTLD though. I believe he was in Scooby Doo? Or am I getting confused? I never saw that flick all the way through and just remember catching it on The Family Channel and recognizing him. On an even more side not, I can't believe James Gunn wrote Scooby Doo.

If i'm not mistaken, wasn't Migeul Nunez in that movie Juwanna Man? I haven't seen it, but I slightly remember seeing the preview for it.

Yep, he was. He's been in a lot of stuff, actually. Kind of surprised me.

Yeah, that's weird. I feel he's a very likeable character actor.

I love the Critters, mainly the first three. But I think none of the four movies reach the greatness a Critters movie could reach. I don't know exactly what is lacking, but something is lacking in these 4 movies. I can't explain.

I wouldn't be against a remake if they keep the same look for the Crits and upgrade everything else.

"The Power of the Night" would be missing unhappily, as well as the 80s look..

I don't know man, I think they hit the nail right on the head with the first one. The setting, the characters, even "Power of the Night" all just seem perfect. I don't think they came close again after the first, but part 1 is just about perfect if you ask me.

Part 2 was my favorite, but was disappointing when I rewatched it last year. Not as funny as I remembered. Part 1 is almost great, but there's just something lacking. Maybe more stalking scenes. And/Or add a "big massacre" at the end ala Part 2 with hundreds of critters ravaging the town (but better done than Part 2 if possible). Some scenes in Part 1 were also a little boring like the bowling/bar scene with the Hunters arriving. I also dislike the evolution of the Bounty Hunters during the series. I think this part of the mythology could have been better handled.

My mind is a little blurry concerning this series, I have to say.

I have to rewatch the series now, just to be sure of what I think of these movies.

I'll tell you then.

In Street Fighter Miguel Nunez played Dee-Jay, Bison's Head Computer Technician and Communications Expert. Favorite scene of his in the flick was the double take he did when Bison started talking about it was looking defeat was certain ,and how he Dee-Jay would go down together in battle. Not having this Dee-Jay snuck out of the command center unnoticed by the mad dictator as he was gabbing on and on.:p

Anywho. I've never seen 3 and 4, and from I've heard I'm not in a real hurry to see them anytime soon. The first remains my favorite flick of the batch. Although, I haven't see the flick in it entirety since 1988, when I recorded off a local broadcast station. The secon flick, Critters II:The Main Course, I was a bit let down when I first saw it a few months after the first one. For some reason it just didn't have that spark that the first one did. Although to tell the truth, I was a bit of a morbid little yutz when I was a teenager, so that may have colored my view of it. I just picked up the DVD to the first one ,and plan to view it sometime this week during my month long Horror Movie Marathon. Honestly, I rather a new theatrical sequel than a remake. The fun thing about watching the original is how the kid is showed playing with fireworks, the sherieff chewing tabbaco, and pretty nasty wounds on the Deputy/Bounty Hunter, and this was PG-13 material. This flick today wotld be fast tracked to a "R" rating faster than sushi through a sumo. Were we just nieve back then, or just not so delicate ?

That's right! I've been trying to think who he played in that movie recently. Thanks. :)

I wish New Line would go ahead and make the DTV sequels--Critters 5 & 6 they talked about 2 years ago.

Re-watched the first lately. The Bounty Hunter stuff was a bit weird although the effects were cool but the critters were amusing and I'd say it's a fun little horror and I'm keen tos ee the sequels.

I remember finding the first two Critters films to be a lot of fun. I always liked the scene of the faceless Bounty Hunter almost turning into Freddy Krueger in the second one. lol

Although I did see them years ago, I don't really remember much about Critters 3 and 4. All I remember is Critters 3 being set in a high rise or something and Critters 4, of course was in space.

I like the first 2 Critters films. They're alot of fun, I agree. I didn't care for 3 and 4.

Yea. If/when NLC decides to continue making them, hopefully they will go back to the roots....the farm house/small town settings.

But, since there has been no word on these 2 proposed DTV sequels (Parts 5&6) in over a year, I am afraid Critters might be headed for the dreaded remake status.

Patrick

Man, New Line really needs to make another sequel. But, I am sure we will get a fuckin remake instead one day.

Critters would be damn easy to resurrect with a vague sequel/remake/reboot. Just have the Krites land on earth in another small town again, and don't act like it's the first time it's ever happened. Bingo, easy film that appeases everyone.

LOL......yea and I bet when we do get another movie......CGI Critters.

CGI Crites wouldn't be so bad for certain shots, but I'd prefer if they remained practical puppets.

I actually liked Critters 3. It's when a horror movie franchise sends their character into space that the series get stupid, i.e. Critters 4, Leprechaun 4: In Space, Jason X (ok, I know some people liked it, but I hated it)... and I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them right offhand.

The One and Only

^Well, considering that the Critters are from outer space to begin with, I don't exactly see having a film where they terrorize people in space as that far fetched as the Leprechaun showing up in the space.

Critters 1 is almost perfect if you ask me. The second one is decent and I remember not hating 3 but I didn't care much for part 4. I wish this would've gotten better DVD treatment, I would've loved a commentary.

I like the first two. I haven't seen 3 and 4 in forever.

I'd actually like to see the original remade. It's a pretty good movie, but I feel there's some untapped potential in that flick, especially with the bounty hunters.

I like that the second movie gives you more critter action, but it wasn't as dark, and the bounty hunters wern't nearly as cool.

One thing I like about the bounty hunters in the original, is that they almost seem like bad guys.

I've seen the first two and Part 4, but I don't think I ever saw Part 3. It's been forever since I last saw any of the Critters movies, but I remember always enjoying them.

I think the bounty hunters are at their best in the original. They're like anti-heroes in that one. I get a kick out of the fact that they don't give a shit what they shoot at. If they think there's a remote chance it's crites, they're gonna fire away.

Any info on what the DTV Critters flicks were going to be about ? Seeing that New Line has basically folded up shop, I doubt we're going to see any Krite action anytime soon.

Skye

Who owns the rights to Critters? New Line owned the NoES franchise, but that still got remade...

I'd love to see a remake of Critters.

Yeah, this is one of the few, that I think could be improved on. I still like the original, though. They could really milk the critter action. Plus, milk the bounty hunter morphing. Have crazier and funnier reactions from the town.
