Wallace Alone in the Dark Too
Source: Ryan Rotten, MovieholeJuly 24, 2007

Dee Wallace continues to forge her horror career (brimming with goodies like The Howling, Cujo and Abominable) with a role in Michael Roesch's Alone in the Dark 2.

Moviehole reports the actress will join existing cast members Lance Henriksen, Ricky Yune (picking up for Christian Slater as "Edward Carnby") and Ralf Moeller in the sequel to Uwe Boll's 2005 loose video game adaptation.

You know your sequel is in trouble when you can't tempt back Christian Slater.

Roesch is an Uwe Boll understudy, so you can guarantee I'll be sitting this one out.

It has a different director? Maybe it will be good then.

I like Dee Wallace.

I guess it can't be worse than the first one...

I don't think anything could be as bad as that. The movie was mainly during the daytime from what i remember......and it is titled Alone in the DARK.

Piece of crap.

I'm no fan of Uwe Boll. I vowed to never again pay to see a Boll-directed film after viewing House of the Dead, and I still haven't seen what, by all accounts, is an abysmal adaptation of Alone in the Dark.

However, I might just give Alone in the Dark II a go, because although he's listed as a producer, he is neither directing or writing. The first two paragraphs of this come from Wikipedia (as does the cast list), the third paragraph comes from a Bloody-Disgusting blurb.

Alone in the Dark II is a 2009 horror film, starring Rick Yune, Lance Henriksen, Bill Moseley, Rachel Specter and Danny Trejo, directed by Peter Scheerer and Michael Roesch. It is a sequel to Uwe Boll's 2005 film Alone in the Dark.

Filmed in New York City and Los Angeles, filming has since completed. It will be based primarily on the 2008 Alone in the Dark video game, but will also be based on older games in the series.

"Alone in the Dark 2" tells the story of Edward Carnby, who joins forces with a team of witch hunters to track down the dangerous witch Elisabeth Dexter.

Rick Yune as Edward Carnby
Rachel Specter as Natalie
Lance Henriksen as Abner Lundberg
Bill Moseley as Dexter
Ralf Moeller as Boyle
Danny Trejo as Perry
Zack Ward as Xavier
Natassia Malthe as Turner
Jason Connery as Parker
Michael Paré as Willson
P. J. Soles as Martha
Brookly Sudano as Sinclair
Allison Lange as Elizabeth Dexter/ Witch

The real draw, for me, is the claim that the film is supposed to be based on the new Alone in the Dark game, which I've grown to love probably more than I should (particularly since I'm only up to episode 5 of an 8 episode storyline). The potential for Alone in the Dark: Inferno to become a blockbuster film is great, but that'll never happen, particularly with this going direct-to-DVD.

It's a shame, really. I'd love to see this realized in the first 15 minutes of a big budget feature film:

The game screams "EPIC", but the film just won't deliver that.

I thought this came out a long time ago. It's certainly been "available" for several months.

Seems they pushed back the Oct. '08 DVD release and have yet to set another date.

I'd actually give a dang if this was a follow up to the 1982 Alone In The Dark.

you never know lance might turn it into gold

That's what they said about AvP.

I was dragged, against my will, to Alone in the Dark. My only wish the entire viewing was for some pernicious event to take place so that I might be put out of my misery. The fact that Boll is a producer is disconcerting enough for me to avoid this movie at all costs.

Say no to Boll, kids.

I'm still trying to find out what his involvement actually is. A producer credit doesn't always mean the person has had any physical input (Sean Cunningham got one in Freddy vs Jason, didn't he?), and I don't think he was at all involved with the House of the Dead sequel.

Bill Moseley as Dexter

I'll check it out at some point for all of those reasons.

If he's just listed as a producer, then that's that. If he's not given any credit for writing anything, then it's probable he didn't help with the conception in any way although there are always exceptions. As far as anyone can tell, he's tagged on as a producer to toss in some cash and reap the benefits.

(Sean Cunningham got one in Freddy vs Jason, didn't he?)

I hear the only input Cunningham got with FvJ was with catering. Allegedly, over half the budget there was alloted to Cheetos.

Yeah, I read that this was getting released soon.

I think I'll just play Alone in the Dark: Inferno instead.
