Hey all.
Well, I guess I'll get right to the point; After I finish paying off a few things with my car I plan to put money toward a hock. I never really had a collection; just one other mask that is cool but not as great as it was when I got it a few years back, lol.
One of my favorite masks from the series is the Jason X hock, so I figured I'd start looking around for one so I have a goal to build towards money wise. I saw a few on ebay that I liked but I wanted to come and post here to see if anyone else made them, or knew of a site that made them, or if someone had one that maybe they'd want to get rid of depending on the price. I know the X hock is rare since the movie wasn't that popular and thus that particular style doesn't get made by mask makers, but if anyone around here can point me in the right direction, I'd be glad :D Also, you guys are a cool crowd; I trust the members around a lot more then I'd trust people on ebay. I been ripped off on there to many times to count >_>
So, yeah. Thanks in advance for the help, I look forward to chatting with some of you big collectors out there
Peace out.

I'm not sure if Dedkid does Jason X masks but he'd be the first one I'd go to.

Hey Hoody, thanks for the reply :D
I've seen Dedkid's work (which is epic) and I was thinking of just asking him first, but since like you I'm not sure he makes X hocks, I figured I'd make a thread first and see where it takes me. Though I will definitley keep him in mind. Does he still swing by here now and then?
EDIT: Never mind, I see he recently made a thread in honor of the remake. That answers that

Sorry man, I'm doing every one except for X. I had a mold for it, but I sold it off a few years ago. A couple guys on eBay regularly sell unpainted, vacuum-formed blanks for fairly reasonable prices. If you got one of those, you could try your hand at painting it up yourself, otherwise I could do it for you, or you could approach Ruste Dowg or Clownation, who are both complete A-List when it comes to hock painters, & I know that either one of them would be happy to do it :)

That costume is epic, seriously. Awesome work Wickedbeard :D. Think you can help a guy get together a costume like that? lol
Also, thanks for the link chasin_jason. I've seen a lot of those around ebay though I've decided to go with the mask from fiberglass masks. That one looks perfect :D
All I'd need to go with it is a decent X undermask/hood. Now I know THOSE are hard to find; if anyone has an idea where I could look around...

I've still got the early prototype X that you sent me all those years ago:

Nose hole is a little off center, but I've always thought it added to the charm. I like the "homemade" vibe more than the "off the production line" vibe. :) Also, I added the bolts to the mask for holding the strap on, just to give it a slightly industrial edge (very slight, mind you).

OMG! I can't believe you still have that thing!
I must have sculpted at least four different versions of that mask before I finally settled on one to put in the catalog, and I'm pretty sure the one I sent you was the immediate predecessor to the one that became "permanent". And it's the only one I pulled from that mold, literally #1 of 1! You just seriously sent me almost 10 years in the past man, no bullshit! :)
And FYI, I still have the "thank you" email you sent saved on my old computer at my parents' house. Next time I go down & visit them, I'd been planning to bring it back up here with me. When I do, ought that video go up on YouTube? ;)

Hey no problem. I talked to Lubatti designs last week and he told me that he was coming out with a Jason X undermask later this year. If you'd rather not wait, I kinda like wickedbeard's idea - he took a 3/4 leatherface mask and cut the hair a little bit. I think it looks just fine. I think what I'll do is take it a step further and make a headpeice out of it since that's what Kane Hodder wore in the Jason X scenes and not a hood/mask.

OMG! I can't believe you still have that thing!
All things considered, it's held up exceptionally well over the years. :)
I've dragged the thing through hell and back, and aside from a few chips in the paint job and some barely noticeable hairline cracks that have started to turn up (particularly around the axe mark) it's as fine as it ever was. It's pretty much the only thing I still wear on Halloween these days.
And it's the only one I pulled from that mold, literally #1 of 1!
Yeah, I remember you mentioning something about that at the time. I was well pleased. :D

Good lord, has it been that long? Where's the time gone?!
And FYI, I still have the "thank you" email you sent saved on my old computer at my parents' house.
Shit, I'd completely forgotten about that video. I lost it in a PC crash many years ago. That's awesome that you've still got it. :D
Next time I go down & visit them, I'd been planning to bring it back up here with me. When I do, ought that video go up on YouTube? ;)
Actually, I would like to see it, just for old time's sake. :D
Speaking of old time's sake, here are the photos I took on my webcam with the mask. The folder in which they're stored is dated May 17th, 2002:

Never did get around to putting together a good Jason X costume, though. I might still do that one day.

If you're talking about the hockey masks, I work under Ken Tarallo's Frightstuff banner. He's the guy that sculpted a rather well known hockey mask back in 1982, as well as someone with numerous credits both in & out of the horror genre :D
But if it's the make-up FX, gore gags, etc. that you're wondering about, I've been working under the DecayNY FX name since 2000. It's pretty much a piss-take on the DKNY clothing company - - people on the boards call me DK for short, and when I started, I was operating out of NYC. Donna Karan New York makes beautiful, high-end fashion, I make bloody, ugly, low-brow gore. All those years ago, I was hoping her people would find me & try to hit me with a lawsuit, because I figured there was no such thing as bad press, and since I had actually spelled out the word "Decay", they couldn't do anything to me aside from bitch & moan. It never happened, but I liked the name, it's relevant to me as a person, so it's stuck ever since :)

Oh ok yeah I've already done some business with Ken, I made myself a part 4 mask out of the blank I ordered.
I'll have to check that out when I have a chance :)

I like the sound of that actually. Though since I'm in no hurry I could do either I guess (need to save a bit more moneytoo)
I've seen this thing pop up a lot on ebay lately: http://cgi.ebay.com/Latex-Hood-Under-Mask-by-Jason-Stokley-E-L-S-Pt-X-RARE_W0QQitemZ260399966617QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_De faultDomain_0?hash=item260399966617&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A0|293%3A4|294%3A50
Pretty decent price and it looks good (though seems a bit small compared to the potential hock). I figured I'd post it here to see if any of you guys that actually know the good shit from the bad can offer an opinion before I spend money; I was pretty close to getting it at first but since I'm such a picky bastard I try to wait and go for the best stuff I can :p

Hey that's pretty cool, I didn't know anyone made an X hood. I've seen masks, but not this. I should talk to this fella, maybe he's got more, but I'll most likely do the leatherface mask.
ADDED:
Oh Almost forgot - I have an idea about how to make it look really screen accurate :D. As I mentioned, there was no mask involved with the scenes of Jason before he was transformed into Uber Jason. Kane Hodder wore a rubber cap that was made to look lumpy to simulate Jason's deformities. This means he wore no makeup under the hockey mask - the hock itself had a fake eye glued into it on the left side (contradicting previous versions of Jason's face showing the RIGHT side of his head was deformed, but whatever lol). The Prop Shop makes a prosthetic eye that comes in two colors - the bluish-grayish-greenish tone of Jason's rotting skin in FVJ, and flesh color. This can be attached to the inside of your mask or just worn under it on either side while your other eye remains uncovered, giving the outfit a very life-like effect. Check it out here, it’s the fourth one from the bottom:
