It seems that Brian Yuzna couldn't get a deal together for his planned (http://www.occhisulcinema.it/Dos-Brian%20Yuzna%20USA.htm) sequel trilogy (House of Re-Animator, Re-Animator Unbound!, and Re-Animator Begins), so he's falling back on the modern day guarantee.

Fund my remake! In 3-D, of course. (http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=9739)

The good doctor Herbert West has defied death before and now he's looking to make a comeback. Not in a sequel, however, but in a remake. (C'mon, don't act surprised.)

ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned producer Ray Haboush is developing a remake of Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator. Haboush operates Automatic Media and is the owner of Halcyon International Pictures. He'll be shepherding the project with Brian Yuzna, producer of the original '85 and director of Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator.

There have been talks in the past of a House of Re-Animator and a television series. None of which have come to fruition.

Haboush and Yuzna are looking to do the remake in 3-D. And since it's so early in the game, there's no word as to whether Combs would return to reprise his role, or if they'll find someone new to slip into Herbert West's lab coat.

I didn't think much would come from House of Re-Animator. I remember hearing about it a few years ago & being pumped about it.

I'm not surprised that it's getting the remake treatment since everything else is these days. I'm growing indifferent to the whole trend but will end up watching any remake that interests me.

I'd love to see Combs back though. The man is brilliant in everything I've seen him in.

Agreed. Combs is an icon. Hopefully he'll have a part to play, even if it isn't the good doctor......

and wasn't the TV series idea announced only like a couple months ago?? wow. doesn't take something very long to not come to fruition I guess.

I never knew that they had plans for a television series. Would've been cool to see.

Re-Animator: The Herbert West Chronicles :D

Yuzna needs to give us a 3-D remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation.

DICKNOSE IN 3-D. :o

Anyway, can't say I'm surprised. Would like to have seen Yuzna get to do the sequels he wanted, but it's becoming more and more obvious that horror sequels just aren't in the cards anymore these days.

The sequels would have been better, but this movie rocks. I just hope Beyond gets a remake as well then because I liked it more.

As long as Yuzna's attached, I won't complain. Re-Animator is one of my favorite movies ever (seriously, it's got a permanent spot in my Top 10) & I swear I'll kill someone if they fuck this up :shifty:

In 3D instantly makes this ten times as interetsing.

I doubted this remake until I saw the thread..A lot of times I see IMDB threads that say a particular film is being remade (Iknow, so reliable:shifty:)and they lead to a Rickroll. I give all remakes a chance. I have always been vocal about my love for the Black X-Mas remake (even though it is so hate) and we have been graced with some pretty good ones as of late.

Stuart Gordon on the Re-Animator Remake (http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=9793)

Sifting through press notes often yields details on upcoming films. I read 'em. It's part of the job. And it was in the the notes for Rogue Pictures' upcoming The Last House on the Left where I discovered details on the potential Re-Animator remake we reported on last weekend.

The news came via a career bio on executive producer Ray Haboush. Most mini-bios for press notes need to be approved by the talent before they go to print; so keeping that in mind, we presumed the Re-Animator redo news was solid enough for an announcement. But it appears someone jumped the gun.

Last night, I caught up to original Re-Animator helmer Stuart Gordon who admitted to seeing the news break and being confused, especially after getting off the phone with producer Brian Yuzna. "I contacted Brian and he didn't know anything about it. I said, 'What's going with the remake?' And he asked, what remake?"

So, is a Re-Animator remake in 3-D wishful thinking on Haboush's part? A way to draw some attention? It generated from somewhere in his camp. We'll see what we can dig up. For now, rest easy. It doesn't look like this remake is going to happen any time soon.

Confusion. Re-Animator Remake Update (http://www.horror-movies.ca/horror_14624.html)

Producers Brian Yuzna (the original Re-Animator) and Ray Haboush (The Last House of the Left) have confirmed in an exclusive interview to the spanish magazine 'Fotogramas' that they are going ahead with the remake of Re-Animator. The remake will be shot entirely in Spain and will start as early as next summer!

Yuzna also confirms that this is not a new chapter in the Re-Animator saga, but a remake of the first one which follows a dedicated medical student and his gf who get involved in some crazy experiments (no not those kind, medical ones!) involving reanimating dead tissue. When one day an odd new student arrives on campus and things really start to "get moving".

Jeffrey Combs, who played the lead in the original, will have a small part in the remake according to Yuzna, however he won't be reprising his role as Doctor Herbert West. Instead it will go to Ezra Godden, who has done some tv mainly but also starred in Dagon. Co-starring as his gf / fiancee will be none other than Canadian Cutie Elisha Cuthbert! No word on the rest of the cast at this time though.

OK, but if Cuthbert doesn't end up completely naked with a talking severed head between her legs, I will not be satisfied.

OMGWTFBBQ. Producer Talks Re-Animator Remake (http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=9924)

The Re-Animator remake, we first broke the news to you about here, is indeed on the table. But it is not as far along as some news sources (throwing attached names like Elisha Cuthbert around) claim it is.

Earlier this month, I caught up to director Stuart Gordon who was unaware of executive producer Ray Haboush's plans to redo the '85 film in 3-D. Haboush, of Halcyon International Pictures, is now speaking out about the recent rumors and the status of the remake.

"This current rumor about Elisha Cuthbert appearing in the remake of Re-Animator is just that - a rumor," he says. "Actually the whole idea that we are remaking the movie this summer, in Spain nonetheless, is completely off base...especially as no talent - writer, director, nor actor - has been attached to this project in any capacity whatsoever."

Haboush confirms, however, that our this story is true. "We have been discussing amongst ourselves the idea of remaking Re-Animator, in 3D, however, at the moment, it is still only a concept. For now, all of Brian [Yuzna]'s attention is focused on prepping Amphibious, a creature feature to be shot in 3D, that he's directing next month in Southeast Asia."

The remake train really does seem to be running out of steam.
