I just bought the Bill and Ted's Excellent Collection DVD boxed set a couple of weeks back, and after finishing watching two films that I haven't seen since my childhood, I'm having trouble deciding which one was better. I mean, they're both totally excellent (pun intended) films, and neither of them lack anything at all, really. In case you haven't seen the Bill and Ted films starring a young Keanu Reeves as Ted "Theodore" Logan and The Lost Boys' Alex Winter as Bill S. Preston, Esquire, this poll probably isn't for you, and you should go to your local video store immediately and rent them.

But the poll here is, out of the two, which one do you think was better? Is it the Excellent Adventure, featuring the Wyld Stallyns time travelling throughout history, bagging historical figures in order to pass a history report to save the future from impending doom? Or is it the very dark Bogus Journey, with Bill and Ted being murdered by cyborg copies of themselves sent back to the past by a tyrant to destroy their legacy, and the real Stallyns have to journey through Hell, Heaven, and challenge the Reaper himself, all in order to return to Earth and save their girlfriends and reputations? Both films are for the classic heavy metal crowd, but could appeal to anyone willing to just throw out their brains for an awesome two hour trip. Which one do you think was better?

I'm going to have to go with excellent adventure. Keanu Reeves might be best known for the matrix series, but I'll always remember him for such films as Bill & Ted and Point Break.

The kind of acting Keanu should have stock to because it's all he can do. Anyway, I like tacky sequels so I went with Bogus Journey :D

Excellent Adventure gets my vote. I really enjoyed Bogus Journey as a kid, but it just doesn't hold up when I watch it directly after the first. There's a serious dig in quality, although I still think Bogus Journey is better than a lot of pointless sequels.

I voted Bogus journey. Fighting their robot self, meeting the creator, rocking with the reaper? Suh weeet!

Albert Einstein never died in 1955 as documented. No, he lived well into his 100s.

Albert Einstein died walking out of a theater in 1991, pondering this very thing. The human brain simply can not comprehend a question of this magnitude and difficulty. They are both just too excellent.

The original. I wasn't all that crazy about the sequel.

I didn't know there was a boxset! Are there any decent extras?

Anyway, Bogus Journey all the fucking way. "Silk comes from the butts of Chinese worms."

Well, the movies themselves are just the original MGM DVD releases from around 2002, but it also comes with a bonus supplemental disc with a ton of shit on it, so yeah, the extras are most triumphant. Plus the phone booth box is a nice touch.

And yes, Col. Oates was one scary mofo. "Oh, fresh fudge!"
