All right gang:

Searched for this and nothing came up.

My favorites in order are :

Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed
Ginger Snaps
Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning

I liked 2 the best because it was the most relentless of the trilogy and had a weird ending.
One is a classic but was just a little slow for my tastes, (but its still a good movie).
3, while good - was a little dry for me. I didn't feel the story at all.

Let's discuss, shall we.

The first one was a classic. I did not like the sequels at all.

I think the second or third one was filmed in Edmonton, just down the road from me. I loved the first one, but wasn't too keen on seeing the rest.

I hated that "Ginger Snaps" was a werewolf movie. I wish it had just been a character study about those two sisters.

The second movie seemed pointless as hell to me. The third, while weird as hell in a Paul Naschy continuity sort of way, was easily better. And hey they won at the end. How can ya not like that?

I liked the first one, loved the second (mostly because of the ending), and am indifferent to The Beginning.

I remember watching the original on the Sci Fi channel a few months back and liking it, haven't seen the sequels yet.

I like the trilogy quite a bit. I can't really chose between the first 2. I like them about the same.

The 3rd was alright. Got off to a good start, but the middle lacked a bit. The final act though was good.

I'm a huge fan of the first 2 though.

I thought the sequels were equally as good.

Part 2 especially. I loved how the girl became a junkie shooting up that herb so she didn't change. I thought all 3 had a great atmosphere... plus a song from Jack Off Jill!

Man, my ex-girlfriend stole my copy of part 1. I love that flick. I remember not liking part 2, but since it's getting such good feedback here I might give it a second chance. I like the third one pretty good, but nothing I'd watch over and over. I need to try to find another copy of part 1.

I have the special edition on DVD, (the first GS,) and am hooked on it. The second one looked like it was a complete rushjob from start to finish with only the ending being worth watching. The 3rd one was beyond pointless.

The original had some many priceless moments that the later ones lacked that I can only recommend GS1 but you'll be glad you picked it up.

Ginger Snaps is in my top 5 favorite horror films despite its flaws. I could make a novel as to why that is, but I'll move on. :p

Ginger Snaps II I've come to enjoy more since I initially viewed it. What gets me is that we follow Bridgette ever since the start of the entire ordeal only for her to end with such a fate that we last saw. It sets up the notion that being infected has no positive outlook no matter what and it truly is a curse and that all of this is played upon in Ginger Snaps III, but..well, that's all I've got to say is that I'm bummed out for Bridgette.

Ginger Snaps III, I feel, is the weakest. Beautiful cinematography doesn't quite make up for the dialogue and the rest of the mediocre story and it's "twist". It does help push the point of the curse so I can't say it's a complete waste.

The second movie seemed pointless as hell to me. The third, while weird as hell in a Paul Naschy continuity sort of way, was easily better. And hey they won at the end. How can ya not like that?

I know TM wrote this over a year ago, but I've got the feeling he reads some things from here every so often...

It didn't exactly turn out that way. While they made it through the smaller situation, the infection and curse would be their undoing as we've seen in every other example which could possibly lead to the future generations demise if you want to follow the idea that one and three's characters were related.

What special edition do you refer to? The copy of the original I had was barebones, but if there was a special edition available I would try to pick it up for sure.

Chex, would you please outline some of your problems with the first installment?

The Canadian DVD has a couple commentaries, deleted scenes, BTS features, etc.

Like Cody mentioned, it's the region 1 Canadian version. I'm far too tired to grab my copy and type everything out, so I'll simply copy and paste from dvdcompare.net:

Chex, would you please outline some of your problems with the first installment?

Whoa, someone cares what I think? (seriously?)
I'm somewhat drowsy and on the verge of just passing out into sleep, but from what I can recall, they weren't anything too major.

Some lines of the acting I had a problem with. Most notably would be the male teen who was infected and when he and Bridgette run into one another in broad daylight.

The dad just ups and vanishes while there's no idea what happened to the mom. The dad's the bigger problem considering the events that happen back at the Fitzgerald house in the finale. Good news is that there are deleted scenes for both problems on the canadian version. :)

Strangely enough, I'm one of the (very) few that actually like the look of the Ginger werewolf. It always made sense to me that, y'know, it would be hairless given it's a female werewolf. At least, I don't remember seeing strong body hair on Ginger so it makes some sense. :p

I know I'm forgetting two minor quibbles as well, but I just can't seem to recall them. All of what I mentioned (and what I didn't) weren't anything to sink the film though and more so considering all the positive there is about it. The film is on my list to rewatch in the close future (along with some projects) so I'd be happy to post anything else that I come across or can remember.

ADDED: I do wish the sequel didn't get made as I felt the original film's ending was perfect. One interpretation of the ending was that Ginger had enough human conscious to still realize slightly the extent of the situation at the end when Bridgette held the knife in one hand and the antidote in the other. Ginger leaping up towards the hand with the knife could be viewed as her making the choice that Bridgette couldn't and shouldn't. Ginger dying would leave the antidote (which worked fine as far as this film showed us) for Bridgette so she wouldn't suffer the same fate and that she gave her life so her little sister wouldn't have to follow her path.

Add on the final shots consisting of photos of the two sisters together while Bridgette somewhat holds her dead sisters body to her final breath while the haunting score plays and there you have it: one of my all time favorite and moving endings.

Then the sequel comes along....

Of course, there's always the approach of taking simply what we see on screen. It's just how things work out with how Bridgette holds the antidote in one hand with the knife in the other. If the two had switched hands then there's the possibility Ginger would have been cured, but Bridgette more than likely would be mauled. In the end, the sisters lose each, but one gives her life still to save the other.

The first Ginger Snaps was one of the greatest werewolf films I have ever seen. That was Katherine Isabella way before Freddy vs. Jason. I already knew who she was before FVJ because of the Ginger films. The first Ginger film was absolutely brillliant. The sequels were so bad that I have only seen them once and will never again.

I recognized her from Disturbing Behaivor as James Marsden's sister when watching Ginger Snaps.

I always thought of it as a bit funny how Ginger's the older sister, who was about 16, while Isabelle was actually 19 at the time it came out. Meanwhile, Bridgette was 15 and played by Emily Perkins who was 23.

I adore the first, an amazing and intelligent horror film. The second works very well as, oddly, a stand alone. Almost eevrything you need to know is there. I look at it more as a what if. The first stands alone for me, as its emotions and endign are destroyed by the second BUT, in itself, the seconds story is worth telling. Two different stories, same basic set up in my opinion.

Yeah, the Special Edition had Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins' audition tapes, (Emily looks so adorable with her buzzcut hair I just wanted to hug her,) easter eggs of John Fawcett with Katie and Emily discussing sick porn and whether John was attractive to the girls. It also had a cool featurette with interviews with the cast, deleted scenes, rehersal clips, (with Katherine playing the Asian janitor,) the warewolf movie mini movie, (the movie they watched before Ginger got bit,) audio commentary from the director and screenwriter, (I recommend the John Fawcett commentary because he's having WAY too much fun doing it,) and ALL of the staged death pictures. It's a pretty loaded DVD package for a single disk.

My favorite scenes in the movie were the pregnant school nurse giving them condoms and Bridgitte scowling at the tampon eisle at the supermarket.

I've only seen the first two all the way through but that was awhile back. I liked them quite a bit. I had them both on DVD but traded them in. I've seen bits & pieces of the third but don't remember much about it. I need to get 'em all of DVD one of these days.

So by that logic, does that mean that Rocky really LOST the Drago fight in "Rocky IV" considering what became of it in "Rocky V"? Come on...

Just be happy for the Fitzgeralds once!

I never said they didn't make it through the smaller problem, but that it wasn't the end of all their troubles and certainly not the only threat. That's like saying Rocky didn't beat Drago. C'mon! ;)

Wow, that special edition sounds great, I need to get my hands on that bad boy.

I agree that it's odd that Emily is the younger sister...I was shocked to hear her actual age back in the day. Also, I have no recollection of Katerine in Disturbing Behavior, but it's been like 10 years since I've seen that one.

I'd look at them less as sequels and more as "what-ifs" myself. Either way, the original stands alone so much, the second, whislt still a great film, works well as a stand alone, and in fact, weakens the firts film when looked at as a pair IMO.

This is really old as it came out around 2004:
Source (http://www.joblo.com/horror-movies/news/interview-emily-perkins)
ARROW: Ginger Snaps 4? Is that feasible?

EMILY: They're actually talking about a "Buffy" kind of series, but with werewolves and I think that would be really cool.
A Buffy the Vampire Slayer type of TV series with werewolves in the vein of Ginger Snaps? Could have been interesting I guess depending on if it focussed on teens like the Fitzgerald characters or something.

Something else is that I love Perkins' response to the idea of a part 4. Usually, people try to not rule anything out or be a bit mysterious with their answer. Not here:

EMILY: But as far as Ginger Snaps 4, the feature...I haven't heard anything about it.

ARROW: Are you signed up for one?

EMILY: Nope!

Cut and dry.
