Anyone used to have this system?

I remember the horror when mom and dad sold it in a yard sale. Nintendo Entertainment System had come out recently and had captured my attention to the point where I no longer used Atari or Coleco. But for the few years I had it, it rocked.

ZAXXON was a particular favorite, and I remember having a Rocky game for it as well. You fought Mr. T, and maybe Apollo. I don't recall off-hand.

I remember another game but don't recall the name. It was safari themed and you hopped around on different levels (tried to look 3-D). And seems like there was a racing game. It wasn't very special although I do remember that you had to change tires on it every so often, so I thought "wow, how realistic!"

Anyway, all these other old systems have appreciation threads, so let's give some love to the little known wonder that is...COLECOVISION!

And here's a YouTube Video featuring a bunch of alternate and unreleased games for the system. Very interesting watch!

Interesting that Destruction Derby was never released but later re-made for PlayStation 1.

I don't have a Colecovision, but the only reason that is is because the controllers are shoddy and always break. I called up this pawn shop in Regina once and they had a Colecovision for $80 with like 13 games and my parents were there. I told them to pick it up for me, but when they got there it was gone.

Through magical ways, I have played Ladybug for Colecovision, which seems to be a fairly regarded title amongst Coleco enthusiasts. The graphics are very nice on the system, it's sort of like Sega Master System in terms of the graphics being a nudge better than the competition. The extra shit the Colecovision can do make the color bursts pretty impressive. The graphics exist somewhere between 8-bit and 2600, which creates a cool vibe to the art design of the games.

I had one of these in the mid 1990s, I think. I don't remember a whole lot about it because those were my ultra gaming days so I was playing the hell out of other systems.

I thought the controllers were pretty neat though.

I never had one of these--it's one of the few major consoles that I never owned in any shape or form.
