The second season of Eureka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureka_%28TV_series%29) is well underway on the SCI-FI Channel, and I'm jazzed. I've only seen the first episode, but I'll be watching what I've missed so far on Monday night, and I can't wait. The season premiere was great, and this subplot with Henry wiping Carter's memory but not his own has really got me tense. I've no clue where they're going with that, but it can't be anywhere good.
Has anyone checked it out yet?
For those in the UK who are watching it (under the title A Town Called Eureka) -- the second series will be airing on Sky One in October of this year.

I know that it matters not a jot to anyone else on this forum, but Eureka appears to be set for a third season:
Things are looking good for those setting up residence in the little town of "Eureka."
Sources close to SciFi Channel say the show -- as expected -- is looking at an almost definite third season following strong viewership numbers in the first part of the show's second season which included some larger sets and new faces.
The second season premiere last summer drew in 2.5 million viewers, down from the near 4 million who tuned in for the pilot -- but that was the largest audience to ever tune in for an original series episode on SciFi Channel at the time, so they probably get a little leeway.
"Eureka" has received strong popular reaction, almost to the point that some have speculated the show could move to sister network USA, but sources tell SciFi Portal that there's no chance that will happen.
This show is criminally under appreciated across the interwebs. It's giving Doctor Who some competition for my number one favorite TV show, which is definitely saying something.

The season has been good so far. Good to hear it's basically a lock for another one.

I'm also likewise happy to see Eureka will be popping up for a third season. I had read some reports that the show was getting close to the hangman's noose this season. With the ratings not as high as the Sci-Fi Channel wanting them to be ,and the show's rather pricey budget, it was going the route that Stargate SG-1 and The Dresden Files went. Good news indeed for one of the more cheery shows on TV.

Last I heard, it was doing monumentally better than Flash Gordon, and is Sci-Fi's strongest show for the late summer line-up. In fact, the latest article from SyFy portal mentioned rumors that USA might be trying to bag the series off of SCI-FI because it's been doing so well, but that there was little chance Bonnie Hammer was going to let the show go.

I'm so loving this show, I watched the first season and thru mid second season, so far so good!
I've seen the actor that plays Henry, also played a scientist on the Terminator 2 movie..
I want Jo and Allison so bad... I'm still rooting for Carter to get Allison... hopefully the future will be almost the same as the alternate one.

The second season is about to end here in the states, and things look like they're going to go terribly wrong between Nathan, Henry and Alison. I just can't figure out where it's going. :X

I know. The word is suddenly a very scary place.

Eureka is confirmed back for a third season. (http://www.syfyportal.com/news424212.html)
Say welcome back to "Eureka," because the little town that could will definitely be back next year on a television equipped with SciFi Channel near you.
The network confirmed a story first reported by SyFy Portal as a rumor a few weeks ago that the hybrid science-fiction/comedy show has earned a third season on SciFi Channel.
"Eureka rose to an even higher creative level in its sophomore season, combining entertaining, compelling stories with deeper character development and great cast chemistry," said Mark Stern, SciFi Channel's executive vice president of original programming, in a release. "And clearly, the audience noticed, bringing millions of new viewers to the channel."
SciFi Channel has ordered 13 more episodes, with expectations that it will grow the 3 million new viewers it earned in the second season alone. After its premiere became the highest rated series premiere in SciFi Channel history, Eureka peaked this season in its Aug. 28 episode which earned a 2.1 household rating for adults 25 to 54. That equates to 1.7 million viewers.
Everyone seems to be returning for the third season, including Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson, Joe Morton, Jordan Hinson and Ed Quinn. Also coming back are executive producers Jaime Paglia and Charlie Craig.
Not so much for those nasty rumors about the show losing viewers, then. According to Mark Stern, it's actually gained viewers this season. :box:

'Eureka' Goes Even Higher Tech (http://www.syfyportal.com/news425023.html)
So you thought "Eureka" had a lot of high-tech devices in its first two years? Just wait until Season 3, according to SciFi Wire.
"We take a lot of things that we find in tech magazines or online and sort of take it to the next level," said series co-creator Jaime Paglia. "We kind of 'Eureka-fy' stuff that's already in development. It is based on reality, and the idea of eventually exploring of the planets is great, but we get to take that to a whole new level."
For example, in the highly rated SciFi Channel show with automatic dog walkers and hovercars, Biosphere 2, an environmental project in the Arizona desert, becomes "a 2,000-acre preserve," he said.
What would happen to everyday events in a technologically advanced community like Eureka? Executive Producer Charlie Craig answers that question by bringing to life the town's dog show.
"Dog shows in Eureka [feature] dogs, but they're robot dogs, and they're trying to be perfect. They're trying to be dogs that look mangy and smell, and that would be a real success to make a dog. So we're doing that."
A lot of this comes from the backgrounds of the show's head honchos. For example, Pagia's father is a scientist, hematologist and pathologist at the University of California, Los Angeles. His dad served as one of the advisors for Biosphere 2. "I went out there as a kid with him, and I got to go in and see what that thing looked like," Paglia said. It's no surprise that the show revisited the concept, Eureka-style.
New episodes of "Eureka" begin on the SciFi Channel on Tuesday, July 29.

I can't believe they killed Nathan. :( Seriously.

yeah, that did suck,
but the first few episodes of the season and the last 5 eps of last season relied too much on Carter and Nathan's," let's get out of this near impossible situation with adversarial banter," (but we really admire each other in a weird way) . and at the end of the day, everything will be all right.
It got repetitive.
This shakes things up, and hopefully will give the other character's time to shine.

I liked the banter. It was one of my favorite parts of the show, and Nathan has been my favorite character since season 1. I think there was plenty they could have done with him, he didn't have to be there just to chase after Allison or the Artifact.
You're right, though. It does shake thing up -- it definitely shook me up, because I found Nathan disintegrating with that sad smile on his face to be really disturbing. :(

Interesting interview (http://www.buddytv.com/articles/eureka/eureka-actor-speaks-about-seas-22279.aspx) with Ed Quinn posted after his character dies.
The third season of Sci-Fi’s Eureka is currently underway and tonight, we will get to see the episode entitled “Show Me the Mummy,” which will feature a famed archeologist on the hunt for a mummy after he opens the tomb of an Egyptian queen at Global Dynamics.
Meanwhile, one of the stars of Eureka recently opened up about the third season, sharing with us some of his insights about his character and the relationships he has with other personalities on the show. Ed Quinn, who plays Nathan Stark on the series, reveals that the show picked off right where if left off, but will slightly differ from last season’s drama-filled episodes, saying, “the audience is going to have to get ready for a departure from a lot of the story lines from earlier.
"There’s a lot of the storylines that have been to put to rest. There was an original mythology to the show, and I think now the writers want to move towards a different mythology," he explained to Media Blvd Magazine. "That’s part of the introduction of new characters and new story lines. The audience should get ready to experience a whole new direction for the show."
As for possible spoilers, there is only one thing Quinn has to say, and that is “most of the big story lines we need to keep a wrap on. I don’t want to spoil it for everyone. But there is a big, big reveal this season that I think will make the first eight episodes kind of memorable, then really send the show off into a different direction.”
What fans can count on, though, is that “I think definitely we have a couple of kind of zany episodes right off the bat. It’s a lot of big high jinks and big special effects. So it’s a little less of the relationship super drama that we had last season. It’s kind of procedural sci fi; each week there’s a big scientific calamity and we solve the case.”
Tune into the Sci-Fi network tonight at 9pm for the latest episode of Eureka.
If he's not still involved somehow, how would he know about the episode plots after episode 4?
ADDED:
It turns out that Ed Quinn himself (http://www.visiteureka.net/interviews.html?i=21) is the one who requested Stark be killed off. :( Man, that sucks.
ADDED:
For anyone interested -- I certainly am -- a soundtrack (http://www.amazon.com/Eureka/dp/tracks/B001B0BAWU/ref=dp_tracks_all_1#disc_1) is coming out today. With the exception of the main theme, it's comprised of music from the show's second season. Must have.
ADDED:
I hadn't noticed this (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=7630) before -- this season will be 21 episodes long as opposed to the traditional 13:
-- "Eureka" will return for its third season in July with the first of 21 new episodes. Said season - likely due on Tuesday, July 29 at 9:00/8:00c - will not surprisingly be split into two halves. Executive producers Charlie Craig and Jaime Paglia said they haven't settled on how the 21 installments would be split, however at least eight will run this summer.

'Eureka' nabs Newman for role (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i3d6467ccde294720f5e94847179711bd)
Jaime Ray Newman has been tapped for a multiepisode arc in Sci Fi Channel's "Eureka."
The "Veronica Mars" alum will play Dr. Tess Fontana, a brilliant engineer and astrophysicist who sees things differently than those around her. Her scientific imagination knows no bounds putting her at odds with the mainstream scientific community.
Her character also is a potential love interest for Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson).
Newman will appear in at least five episodes.

Eureka returns in July, on a new night, on a "new" network.
Eureka Returns on New Night - Friday, July 10 (http://www.visiteureka.net/)
Say goodbye to the Tuesday, 9/8c timeslot on SCI FI Channel. In fact, say goodbye to the SCI FI Channel...at least as it is, anyway. Charlie Craig has announced via his twitter account (charliecraig) that Eureka's third season returns to television on a brand new night - Fridays at 9/8c on the newly branded SyFy Channel. Currently occupying the slot is short-lived CBS series 'Moonlight'.
SCI FI rebrands itself as SyFy starting July 7th, 2009. For more information on this, read the press release at SyFy.com.
The move to Friday night is a little disturbing. It's a tough time slot. I hope it can sustain.

I realize I'm practically talking to myself here, but gosh darn it this is just such a good show. I wish more people were watching it. I should have shown an episode to Monkey while he was here. :shifty:
Syfy renews Eureka for a fourth season (http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/07/24/syfy-renews-eureka-for-a-fourth-season/23545)
NBC Uni owned Syfy announced at San Diego Comic-Con that it was picking up Eureka for a fourth season. I have not seen the press release yet, but we’ll post it if they ever issue one. The network has ordered 22 more episodes, so we can likely expect at least 2 more “half” seasons.
This summer Eureka moved from Tuesday nights to Friday nights (last Friday, July 17, it had 2.68 million viewers). I’m happy to hear it has been renewed. It’s one of the shows I caught up on that I likely would never have watched if not for this web site and hearing from fans, and now new episodes are automatically captured on the DVR. It’s a silly and goofy show in most ways, but it’s fun and I enjoy the characters as silly as they are at times, so it’s good to hear the news of a pickup for a fourth season early into the third season.

Hey jeans, in post #13 one of your spoiler tags didn't work.
After the good job you did covering yourself in other posts you probably would want to fix that.
Eureka is a fun show. It is not on my must watch list but I always end up watching it when I run into it when channel surfing.
It is one of the better shows on SyFy(I really hate that new name.) I like it better than I ever did Battlestar Galactica.

Snap. Thanks for pointing that out, Toejam. I didn't even notice that it went foul. :X
Eureka is pretty much one of the only must-watch shows in my list. There are a few that I watch frequently and enjoy, but pretty much the only shows that I never miss are Doctor Who, Scrubs and Eureka. The rest of my must-watch shows (Pushing Daisies, The Sarah Connor Chronicles) have been canceled. :misery:

Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton move to Eureka (http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.com/2010/07/felicia-day-joins-the-cws-nikita.html)
Proving that she can have her hand in everything, Felicia Day -- Web series ("The Guild," "Legend of Neil") as well as "The Guild" comic -- crashed Syfy's "Eureka" panel Saturday to announce that she'll be appearing in 10 episodes of the show.
day felicia 150x250 Felicia Day joins Syfys Eureka
Fellow comic fan -- and "The Big Bang Theory" guest star -- Wil Wheaton also tweeted during the weekend that he'll be returning to the show later this season. Day, who played Wheaton's nemesis on "The Guild" said she was excited to join the show, possibly as a love interest for Wheaton.
Day, whose previous dips into the sci-fi pool have included a guest starring gig on Fox's "Dollhouse," rushed out of the panel en route to sign copies of the new "Dollhouse" comic.
Day also was at Comic-Con promoting Syfy's "Red," a telefilm in which she'll play a descendant of Little Red Riding Hood.
