On the tenth day of Christmas, Oh, the Horror! brings to thee: Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker (http://www.oh-the-horror.com/page.php?id=100)! (Josh G.)

Random fact that is totally useless: SNDN 5 is the oldest review we have at OTH that's not been posted. It was reviewed all the way back in March.

It's been a few years since I've watched this one but I do remember enjoying it more than the fourth, which is easily my least favourite installment.

I don't quite get the Clint Howard cameo as Ricky due to the ending of the fourth. Regardless, it's Clint so I'm not really going to complain. Kim & Lonnie from SNDN 4 also make appearances.

This is probably my favorite of the sequels, although Part II is hilariously bad.

I still need to watch 4 and 5.

I just don't see why they abandoned the only thing the franchise really had going for it... the Santa costume.

Yeah, woohoo! Over 9 months later, and I finally see it go up! :)

Part 5 was one I expected to see fail miserably. To my surprise, it seemed to have a lot of effort put into it...though not quite enough effort. Haha.

The effort was placed in those damn crappy animated toys and not anything else, hha!

Hmmm...you know, you're kind of right Scab. I never really thought about it. All of the scenes I see effort in was the scenes where something mechanical was happening. :( Damn. The child must be pummeled!

I think director Martin Kitrosser and producer Brian Yuzna put Neith Hunter and Clint Howard (reprising their roles of Kim and Ricky respectively from SNDN Part 4) as sort of an "inner" related scheme, but non-related to the plot of Part 5. It is one of those many MIA movie moments were the plot changes, but some of the characters are ignored etc., exactly with what they did with Halloween 4, 5, and 6, and then H20 ignores those films. Like I had said before, both SNDN Parts 4 and 5 are sort of like "Halloween III" in some regard, meaning they are part of the series, and some of the characters are inner or outer related, but the plot is completely different than the killer Santa plots of the first three films.

I actually though SNDN Part 5 was not all that bad, and it reminded me much of the earlier Charles Band "killer toy" movies. May I ask again though, how much did producer Brian Yuzna pay screen legend Mickey Rooney to change his mind about the first film, and to be in this fifth installment as a killer toy maker! :p

Just saw this film on Youtube and I have to say it was strangely enjoyable.

Yeah, why the fuck did they abandon the Santa suit? Chucky happened, I guess. In a weird way, that makes sense given the season.

I always forget that Martin Kitrosser directed this.
