What Do You Think about James bond games.Should they be movie based games(Quantum of Solace...). Or be made from the ground up(Night Fire..)

I loved Goldeneye 64 and also the Bond game they had for Sega Genesis back in the day was pretty damn cool.

I started with Bond-games on the C64 and Amiga systems:
Live and let Die was just boating action ... but addictive
The living Daylights was boring
Licence to kill was okay.
The Spy who loved me was great on the Amiga.

Goldeneye on the N64 is still the best Bond game out there.
Twine on the N64 was a good follow up.

Tomorrow never dies was a good game for the PSX ... too bad itīs based on a crappy movie.
Twine for the PSX is inferior to the N64 version.
007 Racing for the PSX: Has an original story and great cutscenes (unfortunetly only an intro and an end-sequence). The game itself was bad

Agent under Fire (for PS2): I like that "generic" Bond. Reminds me a it of Lazenby. The story (Cloning) was a bit too sci-fi. The ending was (respectively the ending cut-scene) was insulting because it was too short and didnt gieve me the "reward" feeling. The mix (First person, driving) was great and started the real Bondgame-craze.

Nighftire for the PC: Good graphics. Unfortunatley it doesnīt have the Driving Levels from the console version.

Nightfire for PS2: Even better than Agent under Fire. The last level (space) almost ruined the game for me though. Havenīt they learned anything from Moonraker (the movie)? The story was really good.

Everything or Nothing for PS2: What can you say about that game? This game is a better "movie" than Die another Day or Tomorrow never dies. A bit too much action for a Bond-movie though (but what can you expect from a game?). The storie (Nano-Bots) is a bit too sci-fi. Why did they have to put Jaws in that game? Dafoe was a great villain.

On a side note: In AUF bond refers to Jackalīs Death as "Sheīs fallen for me". In Nightfire Drake say to Dominiquw "I quite fell for you. Now itīs time that you do the same for me". In EON Katya Nadanova throws Serena St Germaine out of a copter and say "She fallen for you, James". And in the end video bond reports that "They have fallen for each other" (meaning the deaths of Katya and Diavolo) to Serena. Did EA think we are stupid? The first time that line was cool, .. but it wore off quickly. And it sucked that they used it twice in EON. I guess we would have heard it a few more often if EA Games still had the Bond-rights.

Godleneye: Rogue Agent for the PS2: Okay, the story is weird. What does Goldfinger and Scaramange have to do with Spectre .. err, I mean Octopus. Whatīs the point of playing a bad guy when you fight bad guys (and not Mi6 and Bond ... that would make more sense than battling old Bond villains). The graphics and the music are top notch and I must admit that the game is addictive but itīs nowhere near Nightfire or EON.

From Russia with Love: FRWL is one of my favourite Bond novels and Bond movies ... however, it think it makes a crappy game ... EA Games proved it with that game. It was too much expanded since the Novel/movie does not feature enough action. The last level (with the rocket) was way too sci-fi for "classic-Bond". Overall, that game felt like a new story with the characters from the movie, but not like a game that is based on the movie. EON was better.

Quantum of Solace: I only know the Playstation 2 version, since I donīt own a next gen-conole and myy computer is too old for the PC version. The Ps2 version is all Third Person while the other versions are First person shooters. I feel that EON and FRWL, although they are a few years old, have better graphics than Activisions game. QOS also misses driving levels like the EA Bond games. The EA Games had more too offfer. I am also a bit pissed because they missed some action scenes that should have been in the game (the airport chase, the final action scene in Venice or the Madagascar embassy). Most of the cutscenes were crap (only a computer screen that tells us whatīs happening). However, the game itself is addictive. The cover/shooting from cover mode is great. And since I love CR and QOS I prefer the athmo of the game too the more campy/ sci-fi themed games from EA.

Goldeneye for N64 is the best in my mind (BTW, they have it on Wii now!!) The bonus levels rocked, as well as the characters. I have an itch now to play it, although Perfect Dark, is just as awesome.

GoldenEye 64 is a timeless classic. I loved going to the Facility level, ignore the objectives and rules, set off the alarm and hole up somewhere where I could spend hours killing the endless stream of soldiers that would come after me.

Never could get into the TND or TWINE games.

Nightfire was pretty good, as was Everything or Nothing.

I own FRWL but haven't played it.

I've only played Goldeneye. That game brings back some fun memories of my teenage years. I spent many an hour playing it.

I hate when people picked Odd Job in multiplayer & kept chopping me in the legs.

Yeah, I don't know why a character who was played by a 5'10" actor was so small.

I liked doing the same thing in the snow level (the one where you had the sniper rifle).

My favorite thing ever was playing multiplayer using proximity mines. Lots of fun.

Man, with it being Christmastime, it reminds me of the first time I ever played Goldeneye. I guess it would have been the week after Christmas '97, and my brother, cousin and I must have played that shit non-stop. I'll never forget the first time I played through the first level where you had to meet with 006 at the end of the level because I blew the motherfucker away. My cousin was like, "what are you doing?!" I told him, "I've seen the movie--he's the bad guy, so I'm just ending this now."

Haha I did that every now & then too. I prevented all of that shit from happening by killing 006.
